In the last twenty-five years, Sir Alex Ferguson has upset me on several occasions.

When Mark Robins stooped to head an FA Cup winner at Forest to save his job – that was one. All those “accusations” and mind games with Kevin Keegan – that wound me up a bit. That annoying clock-watching period on the sidelines. Every time he greets a goal with that “Dad dance” celebration of his – that kind of grates a bit too.

Today, on the day that the whole football world acknowledged his immense spell at the helm at Old Trafford, Sir Alex was at it again.

Having stuck my neck out to push forward Jonny Evans and David De Gea as prospects, Ferguson conspired to drop them both to the bench a week after keeping a clean sheet at Everton.

Who am I to question the logic of it all? The man is an undisputed football genius. After all this time, he’s also still bloody unpredictable.

The selection of Rio Ferdinand alongside Nemanja Vidic wouldn’t have been a surprise not so long ago. There’s little doubt that, when fit and at their best, that pairing are the first choice centre-backs. But, in a week where Ferguson had admitted Ferdinand has had to change his game to play a part in the United defence, it seemed likely that creaking Rio would be spared a second game in a week. Evans looked highly likely to start alongside the imperious Vidic.

Not so. Evans was benched – all those who invested in the Irishman were left frustrated and I’m left with Evans in our Scout Picks for two weeks; taunting me like a grinning Aleksandar Kolarov wearing an “I love Victor Moses” T-shirt.

Suddenly it seems Sir Alex is over his Evans blind spot. Maybe Mike Phelan has sat him down and taken him through some highlights. Even with a dodgy back and the tedious Twitter habbit, Rio’s the better bet.

We kind of knew that but, for a while, it seemed Sir Alex was happy to back Evans. Having seen the press make a meal of his comments on Ferdinand, however, it’s almost as if he stuck with Rio to make a statement. To keep us all guessing.

To compound my frustration, Ferguson rested David De Gea to the bench to confirm him as a rotation risk for the remainder of the season.

Thanks for that. By all means rest him before a Champions League game Sir Alex – that’s signposted, we can anticipate that. But rest him before a two-week international break? I can’t work with that – we need some logic to play with, otherwise this relationship is going nowhere. First you shift Wayne Rooney to midfield, now this debacle. We’d quite like to consider your players for our Fantasy teams this season, but if you’re going to act up, we’ll have to look elsewhere.

Honestly, how long does it take for these Premier League managers to work out that there’s Fantasy points and reputations at stake? Longer than twenty-five years, clearly.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Took advice on this site yesterday and changed my keepers around. Logic being QPR should concede more against Man City than Swansea would against Pool irrespective of whether they are home or away.

looking at johnny evans in my team now is like waking up from a one night stand with not only a big foot lookalike next to you but also suspected syphilis.
next match smalling will be 2 weeks closer to a return, rio 2 weeks fitter, and one great home game in the past. alternative andy wilkinson will undoubtedly decide to score his first ever career goal this week to confirm, yes, yes johnny evans has given you and your team syphilis

Dyer has improved a bit recently, played well today. Have another look tomorrow at Moses tomorrow.

Both are similar players, head-down running types with little output. Swansea are a better team than Wigan with more potential to score goals so on that basis I would favour Dyer.

Who would you sell him for? I think there is too much rotation risk out there.. all man city strikers. And Suarez is vaccinated against scoring. At least Rooney is nailed on and probably will play as striker in two weeks. I'm keeping.. The more people who get rid the bigger differential he will be.

    Vorm/Krul
    Brown Iglesias Homer Raylor ShawX
    Mata Walters Bolical Gold VDV
    Ade Crouch RVP

    I have 1 FT...

My only concern is Homer and Raylors fixtures but I think they could get clean sheets as long as they don't concede any goals...

Crouch is surely an awesome forward scoring highly with a brilliant assist last week...

    On a serious note...
1, Stoke looked crap at Newcastle is this signs that dealing with Europa & PL is going to drain fantasy potential...
2, Newcastle I have 3 in my back line and their next run is awful. I can afford to play Enrique at Chelsea because they should play up against Chelsea...

Please help with my International break choices.

    1. Use my WC today to clear out Given, Bos, Murphy, Sturridge and Suarez today before any of them drop in price and bring in risers to sit on during the break.

    2. Use my two frees to get rid of Given and Murphy, sit out the price falls and maybe take a 4pt hit or two in two weeks.

    3. Use my two frees, take no hits and just accept the price falls.

I had planned to wait til January to WC, what should I do?

DGW's are only worth it if the top teams are playing, otherwise they are overrated imo. I remember quite a few times last season where people went trigger happy with DGW players and it back fired big time (inc myself!).

If your doing well in your mini-league then probably it's best to keep it. If not, then I'd strongly consider it and not get carried away with "potential" DGW's.
I played my WC back in the first international break and have since got my team value up to 104.2m. The higher your team value during this first half of the season, the more you can do with your Jan WC. Well, that's my strategy anyway... 😛

DGW's have been my bread and butter in the past. I've always done well with them. Easy to plan ahead for and worth a 4pt hit or so on the way in but often you need a WC to avoid a hangover the week after.

Totally agree about building team value in the first half and my team is up to 105.8 with only a couple of hits.

At this point I would do Given(depending on who your other keeper is), Murphy. After that it's your call. I am keeping Sturridge for another couple of weeks and will take my chances. Bosingwa could be back but again it's your call there. I sold him a couple of weeks ago to facilitate Suarez to rvp. Definitely do two and after that you can fiddle a week at a time but save that WC imo

I have Vorm and Mignolet as gk's, should I use my ft to replace my broken faced gk, or just keep vorm in goal and mignolet as a useless sub?

Im thinking mignolet value wont drop too much due to not many players having him.

I know vorm does not have the best fixtures but I would like to use my 1 ft elsewhere...

Also transfer early or nearer the next gw?

Ok so bought in evans for bos instead of jones... what are the chances of him working his way back into the

Imo Evans is a liability. Would try and get jones in. Jones also is an attacking threat

IMO Evans was never a good pick as I felt what Fergie has been saying was only to boost Ferdinand to form the Ferdinand-Vidic partnership anyway.

I also think Jones will take over Smalling at RB.

Evra Ferdinand Vidic Jones will be the first 11 with Jones moving to cover Ferdinand some games and Smalling filling in at RB.

You don't get an extra transfer because it's an international break.

Wouldn't ditch Aguero for Dzeko this week as Aguero performing better at home + Dzeko two heard international play off matches.

    How does this look?

Ade, Hutton, Petrov -> Bendy, Jones, Drenthe for 4pts?

Decided to keep Rooney after Aguero's not quite as epic returns the last few weeks and fear of his rest in the next GW.

How many Dutch players are there playing regular first team football in the Premier League?

I have Krul, Vorm, Drenthe, Van der Vaart and Van Persie in my team already.

Fergies really messed up my planned transfers now.

Was going to do Saylor to Evans, but no way I can risk that now. Thank goodness I never did it as part of a possible 4 pt hit last night!

Sturridge and Rooney need to pull their fingers out too. Maybe I need Milkman instead of B Johnson? I'd get Agbonlahor if I didn't think his fixtures coming up get nasty now.

If only Lampard was £4m cheaper, huh!
