In the last twenty-five years, Sir Alex Ferguson has upset me on several occasions.

When Mark Robins stooped to head an FA Cup winner at Forest to save his job – that was one. All those “accusations” and mind games with Kevin Keegan – that wound me up a bit. That annoying clock-watching period on the sidelines. Every time he greets a goal with that “Dad dance” celebration of his – that kind of grates a bit too.

Today, on the day that the whole football world acknowledged his immense spell at the helm at Old Trafford, Sir Alex was at it again.

Having stuck my neck out to push forward Jonny Evans and David De Gea as prospects, Ferguson conspired to drop them both to the bench a week after keeping a clean sheet at Everton.

Who am I to question the logic of it all? The man is an undisputed football genius. After all this time, he’s also still bloody unpredictable.

The selection of Rio Ferdinand alongside Nemanja Vidic wouldn’t have been a surprise not so long ago. There’s little doubt that, when fit and at their best, that pairing are the first choice centre-backs. But, in a week where Ferguson had admitted Ferdinand has had to change his game to play a part in the United defence, it seemed likely that creaking Rio would be spared a second game in a week. Evans looked highly likely to start alongside the imperious Vidic.

Not so. Evans was benched – all those who invested in the Irishman were left frustrated and I’m left with Evans in our Scout Picks for two weeks; taunting me like a grinning Aleksandar Kolarov wearing an “I love Victor Moses” T-shirt.

Suddenly it seems Sir Alex is over his Evans blind spot. Maybe Mike Phelan has sat him down and taken him through some highlights. Even with a dodgy back and the tedious Twitter habbit, Rio’s the better bet.

We kind of knew that but, for a while, it seemed Sir Alex was happy to back Evans. Having seen the press make a meal of his comments on Ferdinand, however, it’s almost as if he stuck with Rio to make a statement. To keep us all guessing.

To compound my frustration, Ferguson rested David De Gea to the bench to confirm him as a rotation risk for the remainder of the season.

Thanks for that. By all means rest him before a Champions League game Sir Alex – that’s signposted, we can anticipate that. But rest him before a two-week international break? I can’t work with that – we need some logic to play with, otherwise this relationship is going nowhere. First you shift Wayne Rooney to midfield, now this debacle. We’d quite like to consider your players for our Fantasy teams this season, but if you’re going to act up, we’ll have to look elsewhere.

Honestly, how long does it take for these Premier League managers to work out that there’s Fantasy points and reputations at stake? Longer than twenty-five years, clearly.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Considering Jenkinson for Bosingwa

Anyone know if he is likely to keep his place?

I presume he won't be playing for either Finland or England during the break

Played Wigan, Sunderland, WBA, Stoke and Bolton at home so far.
Due to play at home next MU, AV, Fulham, QPR, Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelski, Norwich, Man City. I'm not expecting many clean sheets from Vorm for a while

If it wasnt for a minor slip up against us away, he would have had cleanies away to both Liverpool and Arsenal.
Swanea could easily get a cs against 4-5 of those teams.

    Evening lads,

Torres > >> Aguero OR Hernandez

Given > >> Begovic OR de Gea

Good moves? would mean a 4 pt hit also for either. Any other suggestions aside from those 2 above as a replacement for the 'pile of crap cant even score from 2 yards out' Torres?

Adebayor maybe? Already have VDV & BAE however. or maybe even Bendtner? Got some nice fixtures up until GW 17 respectively.

Aguero for sure big man for the first one. Soon enough Rooney is gonna smooch his way through back into the forwards position and start taking all the goals.

And would go for Bego at the end of the day just because he is getting the same points relatively and is much cheaper, where you can use the money better elsewhere.

Don't look into Adebayor at all for now, depends on his game tomorrow of course. But I wouldn't even do that just because you have enough spurs coverage as it is!! It all depends how you wish to go, do you want to spread some money elsewhere or something?

Yo man! Yeah im sorely tempted to bring Aguero in, its either him or hernandez really, tempted to get hernandez as i already have silva, just cant decide though. i know rooney will be nicking chico's goals though soon enough so thats a strong reason to go for aguero also.

I am definitely going bego in place of given, changed my mind about de gea as fergie proved today that even he is subject to rotation, its unbelievable to think a keeper is being rotated, wont be much, but still!

Yeah i'll leave the adebayor boat for now i reckon then. im on track for a solid week so wouldn't even mind chopping for an 8 pt hit, but im being strict and not doing hits like i used to, climbed two places today and could be 3rd by tomozo night! 🙂

Best to do these changes now ya reckon? as there's no time limit for aguero/hernandez price rise, however this is against price drops for the frustrating Given & Torres, so unsure whether to do it now or later in break? 🙂

Aguero always seems to play so i think he is well worth it. But it just depends whether you really want to change your GK or not... Gonna be bad next week for Given and Ruddy for sure ha. DO you really want to get them out asap? If so just go for it mate! You thinking Bego/Ruddy goes well for a bit?

Completely agree about de Gea now looking at it properly, just don't think he is worth the amount, too much to spend on a goalkeeper where you dont get that many points in comparison! I think its hilarious about his rotation, love how SAF is keeping everyone on their toes even for GK!

Nice amount of points buddy, doing really well atm shame about Torres tho ha! Looking at this week, I might not be WC-ing at all any more and might just take a nice little hit. Not sure for who yet tho ha! Wish i had RVP in a way!

I think it is worth changing them now mate but it is a real shame that you have no ManU cover at all. Have you not thought about anyone from ManU? It's just because of their fixtures, they are looking gd to keep winning at the moment.

Yeah thats what edges me towards Aguero at the moment, the threat of less rotation compared to hernandez, my gut says hernandez though. Yeah i really wanna change Given, it aint happening for him, as villa's defence really cant keep cleanie's at the moment. Yeah im thinking Bego for most games, and ruddy can step in, which he kind of does to an alright extent when stoke have a bad fixture.

Yeah fergie is really frustrating me, so staying away from de gea, money spent elsewhere as you say. Torres!! can you believe he missed yet another sitter toward the end?!! jesus ive had it with the guy, seriously lost his mojo, its gone, for good ha!.

Oh so you not gonan be WC'ing now then? i kinda think it s sensible just depends on how many you wanna re-shape really doesn't it, if its only a few then best to just chip away at it and save the WC, but the WC does offer so much in return 🙂

Thinking of man u cover yes, but unsure, i think city's games with aguero and silva are just as rewarding as united's, as i have VDV also in place of nani for example. id like to see more stability in united before risking a move i guess.

Still mulling over whether to Wildcard this sorry lot or save the WC and chip away at it:

    Hart Ruddy
    Shawcross N.Taylor Warnock Figueroa Simpson
    Silva Nani Dyer Ramsey Derry
    Suarez Adebayor Aguero

Should I do something like: Suarez -> RVP, Hart -> cheap keeper, maybe even VdV for Nani only this week, or use up the WC and upgrade Derry, Warnock, Figueroa et al?

Want to swap Suarez for RVP asap to beat the price changes, but not sure whether to stick it on the wildcard, just in case of international injuries.

I considered both for my coming transfer out of Murphy. Sess won for me on price, low ownership and form. The ownership is on the up now tho.

Larsson is ahead on everything else, including yellows, but not by much.

Looks like Larss will outscore Sess over the season but it's hardly certain and I'm a cheapskate, I like players who stand to gain value

I've given up. I've had Rooney and Agüero from the start and despite them having racked up 3 hat-tricks between them, I didn't captain either one of them once.

I'm languishing in most of my leagues and I stand to lose a bit of money if I quit, but I just can't be arsed with it any more.

    11 GWks = 0 highest scoring captains

My three strikers this week scored a combined total of 6 points, half of my defence was randomly benched, and all of the players I sold scored.

I'm cursed. (If you knew the true extent of my bad luck regarding this game, you'd believe that as well)

Very frustrating game based on nothing but pure guesswork and random bits of luck/misfortune.

    I'm out.

                13 in total.

Had to get rid of Given; de Gea seemed like a nice option considering the fixtures.

Especially gutted about R.Taylor because I love the guy. I'd planned to sell him ahead of Newcastle's upcoming nightmare run, but chanced it a week early and actually brought in J.Evans, who didn't play.

We actually did an updated table the other day which included the total scores had everyone captained their highest point scorer every week - I would have been top with an extra 100+ points.

As it stands, I'm now more than 100 points behind!

                Cursed.

For now I think you should only bring in players who you think we be kept in your squad for at least six games. Just go at the deficit week by week and dont try to get it all back in a month. Lots of games left in the season and luck has a way of turning around.

Bumping this once more before I get some shut-eye 🙂

    Thoughts please!!

Was planning on just switching Suarez as far as forwards go (though if I did a full WC I might switch Aguero for a cheaper option who doesn't get rotated as often and get another top-end midfielder in. There are only 3 or 4 players I'd really want to upgrade, but I'd have to switch around a lot more to make that happen.

I think you should save your WC and do the transfers you proposed. Chip away at the rest.

The next couple of weeks look really tricky. I think its a tough time to wildcard, all the big teams have tough runs against each other (barring arsenal), and I think those games are very hard to predict from a FF perspective.

I don't rate Suarez, his finishing is so bad. But I don't see an obvious replacement.

        Chicha, Zamora or Bendther IMO

Good team. I would get rid for an Agbonlahor/Ba priced striker (though those 2 have tough fixtures coming up), and then upgrade Ferguson.

Gabby's only good at home though, useless away. Creates a whole other problem.

Who's the alternative though? Aguero? Ba?

Maybe hold until GW15 and swap Suarez to Ba then, use the savings to upgrade Fergie.

Well it seems that Given Vorm combo is not working, Especially Given. I am considering a replacement,

    Options:
    Friedel,
    Howard,
    Kenny
    someone else

The proposed 3 rotate well with Vorm, but that hasn't have to be good ala this GW.

And yeah I forgot I might bring Lindegaard and play him every week, If he isn't starting than Vorm will come in. He will play some easy games surely.

Howard if you can, or even Schwarzer?

Schwarzer is an interesting prospect and relatively cheap, but I don't like Ful fixtures defensively till the winter WC

And if I am upgrading I think Friedel is in the pole position atm. I don't trust Everton's defense.

Hmm, I personally trust Evertons defence more than Spurs.

Anyone think Lindegaard could be a genuine prospect or will De Gea be #1? Any die hard United fans around?

De gea will start more than 30 games. Lidegaard will be played now and then

Price Change | Sun 6 Nov 03:00 UK Time

+ | Ramsey, VDV, Mata ; RVP, Ba

    - | Smalling , Fabio , Bosingwa ; Mikel, Anderson, Barton, Gardner (Sun) ;
Rooney, Long, Balotelli, Vaughan, Defoe, Di Santo

Less changes than I thought. So, I'm doubt for how many double/triple risers would we see over this 2-week break.

Ramsey, VDV, Mata and RVP, thankyou very much.
Mata gets a sneaky rise before I get rid 🙂

I was happy with Mata's rise too as I could cash in 0.1 mil. But, then, I realized that I bought him a bit too late at 9.6 mil.. 🙁

I'd say he'll rise plenty more before it's all said and done. A few more games like he had last week and people will jump on board.

He was unimpressed last night. Some people actually got rid him last night before the rise and I think the same trend could be seen over the int' break, especially those who got him at 9.5m.

True, but he's in that premium mid bracket with only a few others (Silva, VDV, Nani, maybe Lamps) that are worth the price. People who can't afford the more expensive premo's will get him instead IMO.

Anybody considering Rodwell? 5.3 great fixtures and he is attacking recently. And I remember that statement from Moyes that with Pienarr and Arteta leaving he is the leader now.

I was, but got Drenthe in last week. When the inevitable red card comes for him I might do a direct swap if Rodwell maintain this form.
