Our Watchlist rankings have recently been updated and are available for your consideration in the sidebar. Read on for details of this week’s talking points, as Steve Bruce’s Sunderland emerge as an unlikely source of talent at both ends of the park…

Michel Vorm’s Anfield heroics see him restored to top spot in our goalkeeper rankings. While Man United visit the Liberty Stadium in gameweek 12, that’s the first of three home games in four for the Swans, with Villa and Fulham surrounding an away trip to Ewood Park. Still available for 4.5 and 10 points ahead of Pepe Reina at the top of the FPL scoring charts, the Dutchman remains strong value and is surely set to build on his 23% ownership over the international break.

While Swansea’s back four- having conceded just a single goal at home- continue to offer value, the Sunderland defence also has fixtures to make them an intriguing option. Kieren Westwood comes into our thinking now. With Simon Mignolet facing a lengthy spell out with a damaged eye socket, the former Coventry stopper will be between the sticks for three home encounters in four. The Black Cats provided a stubborn obstacle for United at Old Trafford and, with John O’Shea potentially returning to bolster Steve Bruce’s rearguard, the chances of a couple of clean sheets in the next month look good. Certainly at 4.4, Westwood offers value to rival Vorm.

Sunderland’s potential is represented by Wes Brown within our defender rankings – the former United man takes his place in our top five, sitting under Stoke’s Andy Wilkinson, with Arsenal’s Thomas Vermaelen and Leighton Baines of Everton. That pairing come from nowhere to top our rankings, with strong fixtures and a substantial attacking threat in their locker.

Vermaelen demonstrated his worth in the 3-0 win over West Brom at the weekend and, having netted 7 goals in the 2009/10 season, has the pedigree to notch strong returns now he’s back and available to Arsene Wenger.

As for Baines, his attacking threat is undoubted – both in terms of his supply of crosses from the left-flank and his quality at dead-ball situations. The emergence of Royston Drenthe may have reduced Baines’ influence from set-plays but he still remains the top attacking Fantasy defender. With four very strong home encounters to come in the next six Gameweeks, you have to feel that, if Baines is going to deliver this season, this forthcoming window could well be his time to shine.

The big movers in our midfield rankings are somewhat predictable. Bolton’s Chris Eagles has attracted big investment following his two-goal haul against Stoke at the weekend. Lower down the rankings, mid-price prospects Stephane Sessegnon and Anthony Pilkington also enjoy boosts following recent form, as does Joe Allen in the budget bracket.

We have Allen’s team-mate Scott Sinclair ranked above him and in our top five; with three home games in four and consecutive goals in his last three Liberty Stadium matches, we fancy Sinclair to go on delivering. Just below him, the aforementioned Royston Drenthe is an interesting differential, with just 1% ownership and the fixtures to bring the best out of his explosive talent.

The form of both Mikel Arteta and Frank Lampard is hard to ignore, despite their price tags, and while Aaron Ramsey is kept just outside our top five, he will surely prosper from Arsenal’s continued run of kind opponents going into December. It’s no surprise to see David Silva and Rafael Van der Vaart hold the top two spots.

Similarly, Robin Van Persie looks a permanent fixture on top of our forward rankings right now. With 10 goals in his last 6 gameweeks, there’s been no sign of the Dutchman letting up and, with strong fixtures in front of him, it could take an injury to derail the Arsenal skipper.

Van Persie’s rivals are struggling right now. Sergio Aguero has just a single goal and assist in his last five appearances for Man City, with team-mate Edin Dzeko now jumping above him in the FPL scoring charts. The Bosnian has two competitive matches before gameweek 12, keeping him below the Argentine in our rankings for now.

Wayne Rooney’s decline has been well documented on these pages and his potential remains limited by a new short-term role in the United midfield. Rooney may return to the forward line at Swansea but, even so, that’s a fixture that will prove tricky for a United side struggling for attacking fluency. Javier Hernandez is placed higher in our reckoning right now and, at 10.0 in the FPL, offers coverage in Sir Alex Ferguson’s lineup for those looking to invest in United’s favourable run of opponents.

Again, it’s Sunderland that provide perhaps the most interesting twist on things here. Nicklas Bendtner is widely criticised and has done little to justify his inflated self-belief. Even so, 3 assists, 2 goals and 5 bonus points has seen him make a decent start at the Stadium of Light and, with beatable opposition in front of him over the next four, he looks set to add to that tally.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

True, and with Larsson suspended and Sessegnon scoring and assisting on the last 2 games it is a bit tough to go with wasteful Bendtner. I was looking to sell Agbonlahor > Bendtner but Agb is in form and I keep brainwashing myself form over fixtures...form over fixtures hahaha.

He has been unearthed already, he's on a bad patch like Torres. He's a big hitter with bad luck right now. He has hit the post like 4 times and final touch is a little off. I don't have him but I know that he will score more than one at some point. I hope whoever I have on my team instead of him is in form.

It was discussed here earlier, there are no teams this year without under soil heating. So it would be hard to pinpoint the risky grounds. Storms could hit everywhere, but im not from Great Britain so maybe there are some different aspects to consider weather wise.

This is ridiculous. Ho can a football blog demonstrate such state of the art technology to read the weather with more sophistication than any other source?

Just have a balanced team, so you can get rid of any players as they are ruled out, and get any replacement you choose. Not much other information to go on at this point.

I like it pretty much. I would suggest Krul instead of Ruddy. Maybe Sturridge instead of Klasnic as you have no Chelsea in there?
Maybe have a cheaper 5th midfielder like Dyer/ Cleverley/ Allen
Those moves should still leave you with the cash for Enrique after 2 weeks if that's your plan.

I think the striker spots are precious and there are better options than Klasnic. However im going with bendtner and many will say the same about him.
You will need Chelsea coverage eventually, If sturridge keeps starting he is too good a value to ignore imo. He has been crap lately and I think he may get dropped, Anelka has been no good either though, so he may be safe

        yeah, that too.

8pt hit to ship agbon + sturridge for bendtner + klasnic?

I know this goes against conventional ff wisdom, but as a poker player, I'm telling myself that the implied value of a potential explosive gw for either over the next few gws suggests that maybe, MAYBE its worth it?

DO NOT DO IT. There's no way either of those are worth a hit. Agbon in great form, Sturridge plays for a top 4 team and has Wolves at home game after next. Both Bendtner and Klasnic look good prospects but you might as well wait just to make sure they're definitely in form and Klasnic is definitely not a rotation risk.

If all goes well do Agbon -> Bendy before GW13 and Studge -> Klasnic the following week.

I remember when I first found this site mid-way through my first season, 09/10 the Bendy bus was in full swing! I was perplexed but got him in anyway and he did me proud.......not so sure this time around...he does't have the Arsenal MF of 09/10 behind him.

Choosing who to exchange M.Petrov for is the hardest decision I have had all season. So many alternatives? Who do you prefer out of Drenthe, Sessegnon and Eagles?

    Vorm - Krul

    Richards - Jones - Enrique - Barnett - Staylor

    VDV - Silva - Walters - Dyer - MPetrov

    RVP - Sturridge - Adebayor

I got him in, but I was pretty close to going for Sess. Eagles, more likely to have a couple of quiet gameweeks now. But that could end up being complete rubbish.

Tough one, its between Drenthe and Sessegnon. I don't like Eagles could go dry like Petrov and then you'll end up hating Bolton haha. You could go Petrov > Drenthe this week and Sturridge > Benditwide next week. That way you can take advantage of both teams good run of games that if you don't mind not having Chelsea cover. Sturridge is an ify bet too so not taking much of a risk there.

Agree on a lot of this, but I have to say, as long as Sturridge starts regularly for Chelsea, at that price, I am having a hard time dropping him. Apart from a couple of performances this season, he's looked quite a decent player. And keen on goals.

Tough one. 5 players to choose from Tottenham, you have defense Ekotto and Walker, midfield VDV and Bale, forward Adebayor. Ekotto over Walker 0.5 cheaper if you want defense. VDV over Bale if he doesn't brake until then. I don't know about Adebayor it depends on his form. I have Ekotto, VDV and Adebayor on my team right now, sound a little too much Tottenham but the team is in great form.

Everton is a mess right now and since they are the away team I would look at Drenthe only.

Team for GW12 at the moment:

    Vorm (MUN)
Kompany (NEW) Shawcross (QPR) Walker (AVL)
VDV( AVL) Ramsey (nor) Sinclair (MUN) Silva (NEW)
Suarez (che) Sturridge (LIV) RVP (nor)

subs - Given, Moses, Enrique, Simpson

I got 2 freebies and £0.4m in the bank. http://fantasy.premierleague.com/entry/1566/event-history/11/

There are quite a few that i'd happily get rid of (Given, Enrique, Simpson, Moses, Suarez & Sturridge to be exact!) but not quite sure how to approach it this week. Who's a priority to get rid of out of that lot?

I'd get Westwood for Given or a Sunderland defender (Bardsley?) for Walker due to their run - possibly both of these transfers. If not I'd bank the last one, as the only one I would consider dropping is Suarez, and I really don't see that many good alternatives within 10-ish million.

Walker? He is not on my chop list! Only brought him in last week and that was primarily because of his fixtures starting this GW.

AVL, wba, BOL, sto SUN is a magic run!

Thinking about Westwood or Hennessey to come in for Given although i really will have to not know what to do to change my goalies. I nearly ALWAYS wait for a wildcard to do that.

I wouldn't touch Hennessey with a 100 mile pole, as I think he is the worst keeper in the league and Wolves defence isn't particularly predictable.

Walker has a fine run, don't get me wrong, just think he is too expensive, and I think the clean sheets of Tottenham are too unpredictable (and few).

Westwood seemed confident and good at Old Trafford. Incredible run.

Don't get rid of Enrique or Simpson, think long term here. your defense looks good and if you can rotate them well then there is no need to sell. I would get rid of Moses, Given, Sturridge and Suarez in that order. Sturridge > Benditwide, Moses > Allen, Given > don't know.

I'm not in THAT much of a rush to sell Sturridge simply because he now has back-to-back home games and he's relatively cheap (especially for a starting forward in a top 4 side). Suarez is top of my list at present. You think he can get something against Chelsea or Citeh?

I agree that he has the ability to do it against anyone, anywhere but those are 2 of the hardest games he will face this season and with no set pieces to fall back on your going on hope rather than expectation i reckon.

Again I agree but an stuck with him as I've addressed other weaknesses so far, so I have to hope he can pull it off. It is hope more than anything else but if he can steal a goal or two then he looks good after the next 2 gws. If not, I'm getting that other out of form striker (who was also a "season keeper", Aguero).

Don't think Suarez will get that much against Chelsea, seeing though he can't get any against anyone else.

Chelsea probably. The problem with Suarez is that he's on a dry patch and you never know when he's going to put a load in. You could do a Suarez > Adebayor, Dzeko. I have 3 Tottenham players on my team and I think it could work.

Adebayor, Dzeko, Hernandez and Bendtner are all on the shortlist to replace Suarez at the moment. I actually quite like the look of Hernandez

I'm like you with no Man U coverage but at the moment it's hard to pick one with any real confidence, also there's enough value out there to sit tight.... so I'm sitting tight.

Personally bet on Piiroja to score, hes a VIdic type player, he has not scored in a while, but he has been one of the top scorers in recent years for us. The best player Is Konstantin Vassiljev- good all round player, very good on free kicks and long range shots- check Youtube. Also Tarmo Kink -player of Middlesborugh- a good dribbler and has a very powerful left foot. Than there is also Joel Lindpere- one of the best players of NY Red Bulls, scored loads of goals for them and is reportedly a target of many top clubs- he came out of retirement just for these games( he retired because hes contract with Red Bulls did not let him play internationally, the contract now ended with this season.

    Vorm (Krul)

    RVP Chico Bendtner

    0.2m in the bank.

Can't argue with that much, although I'd consider Raylor -> Simpson or McAuley if you can put the money to good use elsewhere. Also keep Enrique in mind when his fixtures improve.

For sure. I had Enrique before I wildcarded, he's been good to me.

Raylor -> Simpson would give me enough for Drenthe -> Ramsey, but I already have Arsenal coverage with RVP, and I figure Drenthe is going to do well soon. I might consider that in a few weeks.

    Jagielka, Evans,R.Taylor,(Enrique), (N.Taylor)

1.4mil in the bank and two freebies for this GW.

I feel my defense is a bit weak for this GW. Probably Jagielka the only one will a decent shot of keeping a cleanie. Big question mark concerning Evans' starting role, and not sure about R.Taylor instead of Enrique. Not too keen on upgrading any defenders though, I would rather spend less on defense. So which striker wil, start for City next weekend??

    All have two internationals

Balotelli vs Poland and Ukraine (definitely starting 1st one, second not so sure, but we are short of strikers now, so probably both)

Aguerro vs Bolivia and Columbia (WC qualis) Last game Tuesday at 4pm Colombia (11 or 12 uk?) so will be on a plane back earliest Wednesday back to Uk Thursday?!

Dzeko vs Portugal twice for Euro playoffs, but both in Europe Friday/Tuesday

    I would guess Balotelli 65%, Dzeko %50, Aguerro %20??
