Gameweek 12 draws to close tonight with a game at White Hart Lane between Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa. This is the third time in the last five years that this fixture has taken place on a Monday night, and if the tie goes anywhere near matching the excitement levels of the 2007 meeting, then we are in for an instant classic. As a Martin Laursen owner that night, this fixture evokes fond fantasy football memories.

The Dugout Discussion opens for the late shift, and if reminiscing over a defender brace (and three bonus points) isn’t for you, then I hope the following team news is enough to chew over whilst we wait for the 8p.m. kick-off…

Spurs XI: Friedel, Walker, Kaboul, King, Assou-Ekotto, Lennon, Parker, Modric, Bale, Van der Vaart, Adebayor.

Villa XI: Given, Cuellar, Dunne, Collins, Warnock, Hutton, Petrov, Herd, Heskey, Bent, Agbonlahor.

With yesterday’s encounter at Stamford Bridge focusing on players looking to (and in the end succeeding to) haunt their old employers, tonight once again there’s a whole host of players on that same mission. Brad Friedel, Kyle Walker (was on loan), Alan Hutton and Darren Bent all start and face their respective previous clubs. Jermaine Jenas, on loan at Villa, is ineligible to play tonight.

Elsewhere, fantasy football favourite Rafael van der Vaart passes a fitness test to start up front behind Emmanual Adebayor.

Join us in the Dugout Discussion chatroom where, as always, you can follow all the action.

    Sinclair, Walters, Silva, Mata (Moses)
    Rooney, Klasnic, Aguero

1.0 in the bank and 1 ft.
Rooney > Van Persie (finally)? Or is Rooney playing more upfront again and looking better?

        Rooney to RVP it is!

Shame I couldn't do it sooner, but I really did have other things to fix in my team.

Even if Van P only gets an assist, he'll still score more for me then Rooney has

For those who are contemplating getting the Spurs 'trinity':

In the last 9 PL games Spurs have scored 22 goals(no less than 2 in any game and averaging nearly 2.5 per game). These 3 have scored 15 of the goals and had 8 assists.Over the last 8 games(VDV missed the Wolves game) they have scored an average of 21.5 points between them per game. I think this is a good bet and doesn't seem to run the rotation risk eg City.

I just wanted to see if it was justified-my only hesitation was that it seemed better(for consistent points) to maintain at least 2 City players but the issue with them is rotation and so I am tempted to get these three as they nicely offset each other-Fast winger feeding the two front Guys, has to be a good recipe!

the spurs trinity is a gamble to a certain degree but perhaps no more of a gamble than picking one of sturridge lamps or mata for example
I think you are pretty safe that two of the three spurs trinity will be involved in anything that happens for spurs
you could look at it more as spreading the risk rather than taking the risk

So here's the deal; I no longer see any great advantage for VdV over Bale. With 2 free transfers next week I propose:

VdV out for Bale - banking £1.9
Allen out for Sessegnon - cost £1.6 ready for favourable Sunderland Fixtures GW13,14 and 15

Almost pulled the trigger, but thought I would put the play up for discussion......

60pts pre bonuses. reasonably happy with that, and in top 100k now too. 5 consecutive green arrows 😀

mainly thanks to rvp though to be honest. think i'm saving a transfer this week anyway:

Vorm (kenny) - will get rid of kenny for ruddy soon, just to save 0.5m

    n.taylor, komp, turner (simpson, woodgate)

vdv, silva, drenthe, sess (dyer) - might player dyer vs villa.

    rvp, ade, rooney

Next week I'll do Ruddy > kenny & someone > woodgate.

    72 today without Bales Bonus.

My rival has Adebayor I I expect he will get 3 bonus points. Would anyone else agree that he was horrendous in much of the game and offers nothing to the team at times but is just sometimes luckily in the right place.

    BALE deserved 3 bonus points.

I think Adebayor gives Spurs something they don't get from any of their other strikers. On his day he's a brilliant target man. Tonight wasn't one of his better performances even though he scored twice.

You must be joking , he is playing a great role for tottenham , keeps the defenders busy in the middle , while Lennon and Bale cause havoc on the flanks. Ok he missed a few chances , but his positioning is perfect , needs watching all the time.

No, I think he's excellent and that yesterday was his best performance for Spurs. Worked his socks off pressing the Villa defenders for the whole game. He is very erratic in his finishing but help Tottenham out very very much and chips in with a fair number of goals and assist too.
