Granville may have left for sunny shores, but while he’s sipping on his cocktails, pondering how to juggle his Man City strikers to ensure they miss out on points, I’ve laboured on without him.

I say laboured, what we have this week is possibly the first “grown up” podcast we’ve ever produced, as I chew the fat with an actual football expert, rather than my regular Mancunian pretender.

Renowned football writer, Jonathan Wilson, joined me for a chat, just a week after his latest work – the Brian Clough biography – “Nobody Ever Says Thank You” hit the shelves.

We inevitably talk Clough, discuss the theories behind the Premier League’s goal explosion, the plight of Wilson’s own beloved Sunderland and, of course, pick apart Jonathan’s own Fantasy Football team.

Wilson’s own labour of love – The Blizzard. – is also on the agenda. The quarterly magazine captures some of the best football writing around, delivering in-depth and leftfield articles, ignored by the mainstream football media.

Issue Three is due for release on December 1 in electronic form or print, with back issues available on a “pay what you want” model. You can find full details on the Blizzard’s site right here.

Get yourself a copy after listening in on the chat via this link.

Alternatively, our convenient little player below delivers your goods right into your browsers…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I note the Guardian has Rooney back in attack ( which sort of makes sense). Can anyone tell me who plays where he, Anderson and Cleverley would have played? Not really up on Utd. Ta.

tottenham's 'arry redknapp offers to take granville on loan:

"he's a triffic podcaster, he needs podcasts to stay sharp and we can give him minutes here especially with the europa league." he really is triffic, triffic. the boy wilson is world class though so i think it might suit both parties. we'll reassess when granville comes back, he should have a triffic tan but that probably won't help him for the podcasts, we'll see if we can set up some vodcasts for him."

As a genuine football fan I liked it but I can understand that a lot of folks on here only want Fantasy Football advice.

Most FPL players probably only watch their team now and again and therefore have little interest in the sport itself. These are the type of people that will argue that Eagles is a better player than Modric because he has more FPL points.

They're entitled to their opinion though.

I’ve been tinkering with so many ideas and now I can’t seem to find any decent option at all this GW. United/NU/Liv/City all terrible fixtures, VDV/Defoe out = Cue Spurs fail and Chelsea are not going to hit form in the short-term, which makes me think I should save 1 FT.

    ShawX Brown Wilko
    VDV Silva Nani Sinclair

yeah. rooney looks like starting, vdv you'll possibly want back so it's effectively 2 transfers/8 points

Lost at bottom of last page.I`m wobbling over transferring for hits.

    Vorm (Ruddy)
Baines, J Evans, Brown (Enrique, Simpson)
    VDV, Silva, Mata, Ramsey (Dyer)
    RVP, Adabayor, Helgusson

Already on -4 should I gamble that 11 of that lot will play or take another hit to try and make sure?

    Any comments appreciated.

no point taking another hit to transfer out someone you will want back, ie VdV, you should have 11 starters there

No more hits. Enrique's not the worst option if Evans doesn't play & Dyer'll get ya something if anyone else fails to show.

    Vorm (Given)
    Lescott Wilkinson McAuley (Gabbidon Simpson)
    Silva Sess Ramsey Sinclair (Moses)
    Rooney RVP Suarez 2.3 + 2 freebies

With VdV news I have to change my original plan to get him in:

    A. Ramsey>Bale (save the other transfer)
    B. Rooney/Suarez > Adebayor
    C. Rooney, Moses> Yakubu, Lampard

My strike force is far too expensive for the returns, so I have to downgrade rather sooner than later. Any suggestions?

C for me. The Holy one must go and Lamps is fantasy gold in my opinion. He won't let you down.
