Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Javier Hernandez is expected to be sidelined for the next four weeks with an ankle injury.

The Mexican was subbed off early in the 1-0 win over Aston Villa this evening and was stretchered from the proceedings after a lengthy delay. His goals have been crucial to the champions of late, with Hernandez scoring 3 of United’s 4 goals prior to the Villa match.

Post-match, the United boss rued the loss of his in-form striker and mulled over options for what will be a busy Christmas period:

I think it is torn ligaments in the ankle and he’ll be out for four weeks. We are having a bad time with injuries at the moment but that is why we have a strong squad. Danny Welbeck is fit again and fortunately he got 15 minutes tonight which is good. He has not had a lot of football recently which is something I have to consider. But Nani did alright through the middle and Valencia did very well for us when he came on, he was excellent. So I have some options up front. We may have Berbatov fit for Wednesday also, but we are getting our fair share of injuries at the moment.

The mention of Nani as a possibility in the central role is particularly intriguing. With Wayne Rooney’s run of goalless games now stretching to eight league fixtures on the back of tonight’s game, United are relying on their defence to ensure victories right now.

They have now ground out four 1-0 wins in the last five games since the return of Nemanja Vidic and have scored more than one goal just once in their last nine games but with a run of fixtures that includes (WOL, qpr, ful, WIG, BLA) look ripe for investment.

Welbeck, at 6.6, would be the most obvious bargain but with Fergie urging caution over his game time, the Fantasy options are low on the ground right now up front, with defence perhaps looking the most viable source of points.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

      hmm..I think anyone who does not get 60+ will have little red arrows this week..next week will be different though..don't think avg will cross 40 next week looking at fixtures..

        "I think anyone who does not get 60+ will have little red arrows this week" Depends on what your current rank is.

          Chelsea vs Manc(don't think that will be highscoring 2-1/3-1 max)
          Arsenal vs Everton(Arsenal surely won't score 3+ here)
          Manu vs Wolves(Man u is not scoring more than 1)
          Stoke vs Spurs(are u expecting an Ade hattrick here??)

          the players from teams with max ownership all have tough games barring manutd but they are not scoring much..

        Ditto, captaining Aguero over RVP was a mistake, but watching he game, he could have had hat trick , so not a bad choice.

        I am relying on Bendtner and Walters to do something today to prevent a big red arrow

    Team is
    Vorm Krul
    Baines Richards Jones Enrique McAuley
    Silva Bale Walters Sessegnon Pilkington
    Rvp Adebayor Sturridge
    0.1
    2 free transfers..

    Rather than waste a transfer i was thinkin of doin sessegnon to eagles.. as he has a good fixture anyway(and was unlucky to be down to 10 men last 2 games).. leaves me with spare cash to do pilkington to ohara the next week and will still leave me with an extra transfer.. can then bench Pilkington McAuley and Richards this week..

          Richards hold off him for 2 weeks, city got 1CS in 7 and play Chelsea and Arsenal next (I think they will win them but not keep CS).

          The first option looks good IMO. Sturridge/Ba both good options.

          ramsey, tiote out and aguero also to free up funds for your midfield.

          maybe not all in one week but consider aguero to ba, then use funds to upgrade ramsey to mata, then tiote to walters or larsson.

      Easy answer: No

      The competition is tight. As long as Dawson is injured, there is a chance of Gallas playing when King gets his niggles. The question is whether or not Kaboul has passed Gallas in the pecking order after having showed career best form this autumn.

      I'd be getting one of your newcastle defenders out, seeing as they are without any DC's for a while.

      Seeing as yer broke, I'd say get shot of R Taylor and get maybe Gallas, has decent fixtures for a while.

    Hi guys, this is my first post so bear with me. Currently ranked 700,000th (started gameweek 2) and recently have started doing slightly better. I never jumped on the RVP band wagon unfortunately so missed out on a lot of points over the past month or so, instead I stuck with Rooney (doh) who has done absolutely sweet F A for me... Here's my team and I have 2 free transfers this week and 0.1m in the bank.

    Vormenator Hennessey

    Gabbidon Richards Jones Simpson R. Johnson

    Sessegnon Arteta Mata Silva Dyer

    Dzeko Rooney Adebayor

    Now I know there is a lot that needs to be done to make this team good. I need to get rid of Hennessey and Johnson asap and I need to put A. Young or Bale or somebody more consistent in my midfield. Dzeko needs to go too. My dilemma is, who for who?

    Some ideas i've had:

    Dzeko ---> Yakubu
    Johnson ---> McAuley
    Sessegnon ---> A. Young
    (-4 point hit though)

    OR

    Sessegnon ---> B. Arfa
    Dzeko ---> Suarez.

    What do you guys think? Any other suggestions?

                Problem I have with this is that taking Rooney out for RVP, is probably the right move yes, but I want to try and engineer ashley young in to my midfield as he looks ready to explode and what better place to start than wolves at home, however in doing the 3 substitutions above it would be practically impossible without losing Silva or Mata.. Am i the only one who thinks young and rooney are good shouts for the next 3 or 4 weeks?

    Considering Nani->Bale but I have Ade and VDV…Is having the 3 overkill? I don’t see anyone above 8 that is consistent…Nani,Mata,Arteta,Adam arent consistent.

    is there a way to view the PPI for players for a specific fixture or the latest one? All I can find is the total accumulated PPI over the season so far

        or maybe even a good time to double up with manu players in defense.. can see atleast another 4-5 in the next 8 for them.. then wildcard

          Not the worst idea either. I am convinced Man U will start to score more goals. They created the chances yesterday and Wellbeck was unlucky with his offside goal, Rooney should've passed earlier.

    Hi guys, which transfers should I make next week? I’ve got 3.2 in the bank, and looking to get vermaelen and Mata in:
    Vorm (krul)

    Enrique, Jones, monk (RTaylor, Wilkinson)

    Nani, silva, bale, walters (dyer)

    Van persie, adebayor, ba
    I’ve already made a sub this gameweek (ba for hernandez).
    Vermaelen for monk/Wilkinson?

    Mata for walters?

    Vermaelen and Mata for nani and monk/Wilkinson? (Hit)
    Thanks!

    Pilkington -> Bale
    Hernandez -> Welbeck
    S.Taylor -> Smalling

    Worth an 8pt hit or just go for first two with 4pt hit?

    So everybody is saying that getting rid off of vdv now doesnt make sense, however what if vdv continues to score 1-2pts and bale/nani score big time... Besides vdv's price most likely will fall... Not sure what to do...

    Well AVB's prophecy is coming true thus far, he had said Torres will be twice the player he was last season, so in 3 and a half months he's scored 2 goals instead of 1 for chelsea in the EPL. šŸ˜€
