Baines' fixtures are pretty good too, compared to Vidic and there is more chance of assists, and goals as he's on pens and free kicks. Less chance of clean sheets though.

Lots are considering Vidic over Baines including me.

I think Vidic is getting some love. Would probably rather get him than Baines, but both are way over my budget for a defender.

Not a fan of going with 5 medium priced defenders. Much prefer a couple of more expensive to play almost every game and a couple of real cheap ones to rotate

Ivanovic does not offer the same attacking threat. Arsenal def. is much better with Vermaelen in it and is settling down now. I like him.

Ivanovic when playing at RB is awesome on attack. He also goes up for corners. Is always good for an assist or a goal. Plus Chelsea's defense is surely going to be better than Arsenal's over the course of the season

Arsenal's defence is not actually that bad and Verm is probably the most attacking defender in the league apart from Baines. They've actually kept more clean sheets than City.

Smalling won't play every game unless there is another injury. But then again for his price perhaps you won't mind if he sits out the occasional game. Depends how much confidence you have in the rest of your defense

the extra 2M allows you to bump up another member of your def. so that in the event Smalling does not play you have greater rotational strength
