Craven Cottage is the venue, as Fulham versus Liverpool wraps up Gameweek 14 on a bitterly cold Monday night. Braving the unpleasant conditions outside, the Dugout Discussion is open once more. Martin Jol and Kenny Dalglish have handed their team sheets in, and this is how the sides line-up tonight…

Fulham XI: Schwarzer, Kelly, Senderos, Hangeland, JA Riise, Murphy, Etuhu, Dempsey, Ruiz, Zamora, Dembele.

Liverpool XI: Reina, Johnson, Enrique, Skrtel, Agger, Henderson, Adam, Spearing, Bellamy, Carroll, Suarez.

The hosts make one change to the side that drew at the Emirates, as Steven Kelly comes in for Chris Baird at right-back.

As for the visitors, the devastating injury to their star defensive-midfielder Lucas, means that Jay Spearing comes in as his replacement. Elsewhere, Andy Carroll partners Luis Suarez up-front, and surprisingly there’s no reward in the form of a starting berth for Maxi Rodriguez, who’s enjoying somewhat of a purple patch at the moment.

The Dugout Discussion chatroom can be found by clicking here, so come in and follow all the action as it unfolds.

yeah, dyer runs n then loses the ball. Norwich are also better attacking team then swansea so worth a punt.

We know the fixtures are awesomeeeee. But its not as if MUN are taking the league by a storm.

They've scored only 1 goal in each of their last 5 games, which were all decent fixtures except newcastle.

Honestly, I'd rather have Mata over Nani. Atleast we score lots of goals.

Hmmm...it's just my gut feeling that things are going to change. They might not be scoring too many but they are having the chances. I also noticed that Nani showed up well in the Opta data this week.

Hmm...the gut is a good place to start with. 🙂 But now that you mention how does he compare with Mata, Jafa? Say in the last 2-3 GWs? Bet Mata has a higher ICT index despite having tougher fixtures 😀

              Last 4 gameweek data:

              ICT Mata 58 Nani 44

              Influence Mata 272 Nani 160

Goal attempts: Mata 6 Nani 9 (both had 3 on target).

Not too much in it but the fixtures are just too good to ignore 😉

Hmmm fair enough. Closer than I thought.

VDV > Nani looks a decent deal now.

I don't get how the ICT works, but that looks extremely in his favour.
And looking at actual FPL stats since they met in GW5
Nani has 1 goal, 2 assists, compared to Mata's 2 goal, 7 assists.

At first glance; a) or c). Since you usually be playing 3 at the back I would look more towards c) and the inclusion of Nani which allows you to rotate Rowell and Walters in the middle

2 red arrows in last 2 GWs, i took 8p hit to do this team now:

    Krul (Vorm)

    Enrique Jones Jagielka Simpson Wilkinson

    Silva VDV Larsson Sinclair Dyer

    RVP Aguero Adebarndoor

i'm thinking to take 8p hit more (and 16p hit this week) to change:

Anybody on there wildcard going for a sneaky Lindegaard pick?

My plan was to just play Vorm every week with somebody cheap like Ruddy on the bench but I had an extra .3 to spend so thought I would replace Ruddy with Lindegaard - play him every week, if he doesn't play, Vorm just comes in as planned but if he does plan there is a good chance of a clean sheet with Man Utd new defense

The danger with this is that the Liverpud game might have been a red herring for SWN. Imo, you'll need someone to rotate with Vorm as I just don't see many cs on the road for SWN.

          Man United - 6 CS
          Man City - 4
Arsenal - 5, playing 8 of 14 without their best defender.

Without him there is zero communication/organisation. He is essential to our defence. After RVP I'd say he is actually our 2nd most important player.

And it's only going to get better as more injured players get back:

Starting and backup RB out, starting LB out (though not sure if Gibbs would walk straight past Santos at this point).

Plus, as mentioned, fixtures are good. Annd confidence is high...

Decided to take a gamble - was going with Ba all week, but realised I had just enough to get Suarez instead and I fancy him to start scoring soon. If he gets banned before GW18 then Ba will come in, if afterwards then Studge, if not (and he starts scoring) he can stay! 🙂

Yep, before the game last night. I did Woodgate & Aguero -> P Jones & Suarez with my 2 freebies (had 0.0m left so needed to do it before P Jones rose). It's definitely a risk, but I think he's Liverpool's best player and has been pretty unlucky in recent weeks. I ummed and ahhhhed over Ba, but just have a sneaky feeling NEW's form will start to decline. You still getting Ba in this week?

Yes, i don't see why defenders injured is a bad thing.
Don't get the Aguero > Suarez transfer at all, Aguero is the 2nd highest point scorer in the game 😕
And I don't think you can say Suarez has been unlucky, when it has happened for 14 weeks.
His fixtures may look good, but so did BOL, WOL NOR wba SWA where he only got one goal.

Maybe I play the fixtures too much - I just think Suarez has a better chance of big hauls over the next 5 or so weeks than Aguero. There's also a bit of a rotation factor with Aguero, especially if MCY go out of the CL. I wouldn't say it's happened for 14 weeks, he's had 5 decent weeks so far and with their fixtures coming up I expect more.

Rooney on paper is a definite (c) option this week. His form worries me though, bit like Suarez. Wolves are shipping goals though so he could be a great choice! I'll probably stick with RVP and Suarez (v)...

What's the worse that can happen, I ask myself?

          RVP 1 goal 3 baps + 2 = 9
          Rooney 1 goal 2 baps + 2 = 8

Not a lot of downside to this investment by the loooks of things.

That's what everyone said about Chelsea.

Not quite that simple though is it? First six games or so, Rooney scored for fun. Now he's had a dry spell and asked to play a midfield role. That doesn't mean he won't score for the rest of the season does it?

I know, but he has been back up front for a while now and has managed 1 jammy assist.
How many of his goals at the start of the season were from open play?
I'm not saying he is a bad (c) choice, you just asked what was the worst that could happen.

Unless Rooney plays where he played early season and ManU play the same attacking game they started off with, I can't see the ManU scores(and Rooney's fpl output) changing. How can it?

All of this can change in a couple of minutes of course.

It matters little on the nature of assists or goals from open play-they all count. Being on pens and set plays is another bonus.
What has promoted this line of thinking is the bigger picture of where I am overall right now and the need to make up ground.
Here's an opportunity for a risk/reward captaincy with little downside and the reward of a potentially bountiful crop of points in a plum fixture.

I have Rangel and him, do I keep one, both, or none?

    Please help 🙂

try to not take a hit but not at the expense of not having 11 players on the field

This is what I have now:

        Krul
        Brown Enrique Richard
        Ramsey Bale Sess Silva
        Ba RVP Ade

        Vorm S.Taylor Drenthe Rangel

Does it worth 4 point hit to do S. Taylor -> vidic/Jones

Any spurs fans on here? how secure is lennon's place? 35 points in 5 games.. 7.2.. sounds like a good differential.. only worry for me is whether vdv will take his place on the right to accomodate both him and defoe.. spurs play much better with lennon there though.. really consdierin gettin him in next week.. could be a big hitter with BOL nor and DGW in the next 5.. will bench him vs CHE and swa

I wouldn't want him for the DGW when Bale, Adebayor and VDV are better.

my defense is set.. dont wanna touch it.. and i have ade bale.. vdv too expensive.. hence lennon.. more potential than all the mids around 7 and below surely

I'm just saying there is no way i'd not have VDV for the double.
Go for it if you want.

ignoring vdv.. do you think lennon on his own is a good option? i'll prob have bale adebayor lennon rodwell and baines for the double.. so pretty set for it.. wildcardin soon after

I think he is a fair option. Can't see VDV ousting him in the wing. He is a good cheaper alternative and a handy differential

Will be bringing in Vermaelen for Kompany after tomorrows game with FT. Am considering bringing in Rooney for Aguero for a two week trial. Would cost me a hit. ?????

i'd say just do kompany to vermaelen.. aguero nailed on this week so keep him.. if rooney scores a goal at teh weekend get him in next week.. better safe than sorry

There's pro and con. In article, you know most of contents are well organized facts.

In forum, there are thousands of opinions and you have to consume with your own risks.

He's not even in the squad for thus round of the Europa as far as I recall, so no fear of him playing mid-week ILF.
