The draw for the third round of the Paddy Power Cup V has been made and can be viewed right here. All 128 fixtures will play out over the upcoming Gameweek 15, and here are a few ties of note…

The reigning champ, Ninja_Fit_Saints, has to overcome an opponent over 100 points ahead in the overall standings. The.Special.One will go into the match-up a clear favourite to knock out the champ. On the other hand, our only other previous winner in the competition, Jonty, faces a low-ranked, trigger-happy opponent in 66irons.

Last week’s top-scorer has drawn EasyLuckyFree, a fantasy manager that sits over 100k places better off than elfortu, who now looks set to take a similar route to round one’s top-scorer. Elimination.

Mark is still going strong but finds himself up against Domo this week, who holds a slender one-point advantage over the Head Scout. With draws settled on overall standings, domo is effectively half a point ahead already.

The one competitor who will be ruing his luck is Lestat, who has the misfortune of being paired off against 50th in the world, bobbyg.

We’re yet to see a fully-fledged glamour tie so far in this season’s tournament, but there are still plenty of ‘big’ names battling away in the hope of seeing their names up in lights. The likes of denial, applebonkers, Lad V, EpicFAIL, Der-Hammer95 and Hillbillypete to name but a few, are still in the mix at this stage.

I wish good luck to all 256 participants and I’ll bring you the results shortly after Gameweek 15 has concluded.

was at the Ajax vs. Real Madrid match last night. Absolutely devastated, we were the better team and had 2 legitimate goals disallowed . We wouldn't have even lost the match if it wasn't for that.

The farce that went on in Zagreb makes it so much worse. That wink from the Zagreb defender says it all - that result and the scoring pattern look very dubious. Hope an investigation happens.

Funny you should say that, some of the goals Lyon scored looked like the Zagreb players weren't even trying - and I was thinking that without any thoughts to it being possibly fixed.

Yeah it was pathetic, the player who got sent off couldn't have made two more obvious challenges for bookings if he tried. I think there was a fix on.

It is constantly going on in Italy, very hard to prove anything against the clubs. But it is a s much about the reputation of the club and league being damaged as anything.

Only speculation about the Zagreb match. Circumstantial evidence:
Lyon only scored 2 goals in the group before last night.
          The wink
Zagreb scored first and were 1-1 at HT, then quickly shipped the 6 more goals that were necessary
Zagreb coach immediately sacked despite being top of their domestic league

Who would you rather have out of Brown and Simpson?
Newcastle have the fixtures but have just lost their two best defenders and have kept one clean sheet in 9 games (I think).
Brown has less good fixtures but has a manager coming in who should help them grind out results with cleanies.

I'd ship Brown of the two but I'd rather keep him this week if poss, he's not the sort of player who's going to increase much in value so you can always get him back in later with minimal fuss.

    Team is
    Vorm Krul
    Baines Jones Richards Enrique McAuley
    Silva Bale Walters Sessegnon Pilkington
    Rvp Sturridge Adebayor
    0.1 2 FT

Plan all week was to do
A)Baines to N.Taylor/Evans this week... next week Sessegnon to Nani/Mata
    or should i do
B)Richards to Monk.. Next week Sessegnon and Walters to Mata and Rodwell

All transfers involve no hit whatsover..
And what's better? a Swans defender or Evans? as in B i can get Evans + Allen instead

I shipped out DVD (i didn't want to take another £ hit) and bought in Mata. I'm also thinking of a points hit to take out Bendy for Sturridge (but only if Sturridge is about to rise in £).

I'd normally do that without hesitation but those 4 points could cost me the round - just to make £0.1m... What do you reckon?

I am thinking of getting Mata myself he looks very threatening lately. I wouldn't get Sturridge this week if I were you (2 attacking players against City) just for the sake of 0.1... And like you said you have the cup to think of and you have a good side I think you will win.

Yeah, it's the fact that they're playing City that will probably just tip the balance and stop me from doing it (especially as Bendy has Blackburn). I hate missing out on price rises 🙁 but beating the Rt. Hon Applebonkers would be great and those 4 points could be crucial. As you'd expect, he has a good team.

                  Cheers O Fenomeno - appreciated.

Good, onto fantasy matters. Good luck but not too much of it for 66irons, who may be 500,000 places behind me but his team is actually pretty good for this week.

Also withVidic likely to be injured Ipresuming that lessens Jones' rotation threat?

I was "To"ing and "Fro"ing on Jones or Vidic yesterday.

With this severe injury I can see Jones starting next to every game either in RB, CB or CM. Whatever small rotation threat that was hanging over him, it has been lessened and his appeal has definitely grown.

There is always Evra though if you want that extra little reassurance.

I can't even be bothered going on the big red propaganda machine that is manutd.com to see what Fergie had to say on last night but which of the following can we expect in the near future:

    1) It's about how we bounce back now. We're Man United and over the years we have always done that well.
    2) We won't panic buy in January. There is no value in the market.
    3) We have a wealth of midfield talent to choose from.
    4) We have a very young team, a lot of good youngsters with massive "potential" who will use this as motivation for future success.
    5) All of the above.

Gonna be hard to attract a decent midfielder in January now you don't even have the prospect of Champions League football. Although I guess most targets would've been cup-tied anyway.

Yeah because we historically buy players with Champion's League experience i.e. Ashley Young, Phil Jones, Javier Hernandez, Chris Smalling....... 😯

I see your point though. I don't expect us to buy anyone in January although two of our best signing of the past decade were January signings i.e. Vidic and Evra. I can't see United fans being very happy if we don't buy a big midfielder this summer, God knows most of us were gutted when we didn't last summer.

    Krul (Vorm)
    Kompany Simpson Vermaelen (Wilkinson, Brown)
    Ramsey A.Young Bale Silva (N.Dyer)
    Ba RVP(c) Adebayor

    The dilemma:

    Current situation..

    Given/Kenny
    Evans Jose Walker Verm Saylor
    Silva Nani Drente Dyer O'hara
    RVP Ade Holliet

Obviously keeper has got to go and was thinking Smalling in for Saylor before Vidic injured however could Evans be enough now?

I'm also tempted to dump Holliet for Welbeck/Ba.

Midfield could do with a reshape but Dente can have one more chance and VDV whilst O'hara has good fixtures.

Fellas! A little unsure if I have my team selection right. What you reckon?

    Krul (Westwood)

Jones - Naylor - Brown (Baines, Simpson)

Silva - VDV - Young - Walters (Dyer)

    RVP - Ba - Sturridge

I know Baines on the bench is the obvious iffy one, but really his only chance of points is attacking returns, while the others have obvious CS potential.

    Thoughts?

    Folks,

is my bench for next GW in order?

    Vorm
    Naylor / ShawX / Jones
    VDV / Silva / Mata / Sess
    RvP / Ba / Sturidge

Bench: Krul / Walters / Simpson / Jagielka

I am tempted to play Simpson ahead of ShawX, but have no courage for that.

Also do not like Walters on bench (playing home), but TOT will probably not give them much chance.

Exactly, I want to have Sess on the pitch. And I have a bad feeling that TOT will overide STO this time.

What do you reckon about Simpson-ShawX. I had ShawX last week benched and made a huge mistake. Doubling SWA is already a risk, shall I try Simpson?

That one is a tough call. I'd probably play Simpson as I think Spurs will definately score. But Shawcross does have some attaching potantial tp offset that and they are at home.

I'd still go Simpson I think since Newcastle keep surprising us with their form, but that does go against the 'play the home defender' mantra.

I am going for Simspon ahead of Shawcross but there is a good chance that both Newcastle and Stoke will concede in my opinion. I still think there is more chance of Stoke conceding though; especially against an in form spurs side.

If they will both concede then it is worth a risk. Although ShawX always get a bonus points..... Thanks CAG, I will go Simpson over ShawX.

I have no doubt Spurs will score and possibly win, but I also have no doubt they will concede...they have kept one clean sheet away all season, during their red and cold streaks. And who is their main goal threat at the moment.

Fulham are not that out of sorts, just sidled past Liverpool.
