With no televised (English) top-flight game yesterday, Sunday’s double-header has us eagerly anticipating some live Premier League action. The Dugout Discussion opens for the second day of Gameweek 15, with a relegation scrap and a game between two sides aiming for Europe.

We start at the Stadium of Light as Martin O’Neill takes over the reigns as Sunderland manager. His first assignment is against a Blackburn side whose manager, in total contrast, is hanging onto his job for dear life. Having said that, Steve Kean has a win against Swansea last week to build on. Here are the all-important team sheets…

Sunderland XI: Westwood, O’Shea, Bardsley, Brown, Bramble, Richardson, Larsson, Colback, Vaughan, Sessegnon, Wickham.

Blackburn XI: Robinson, Salgado, Samba, Dann, Givet, Formica, Dunn, Lowe, Pederson, Vuckevic, Yakubu.

Sunderland striker Niklas Bendtner is kept out with a groin injury, and in his place Connor Wickham gets his first league start since October. The visitors are also without a key striker, as Junior Hoilett picked up a training ground hamstring injury that sees him miss out.

Following that it’s over to the Britannia Stadium where Stoke City host Tottenham Hotspur. Stoke’s ambition this season will be to match last season’s success of reaching the Europa League, whereas the visitor’s will have their sights set on returning to Europe’s premier competition after a year out. That’ll then just leave Monday night’s grand finale at Stamford Bridge to bring the gameweek to a close.

The Dugout Discussion chatroom is open for all today’s action.

I'm thinking of using my two free transfers like this; Ramsey and Suarez out, Mata and Yakubu in. But would this be stupid considering I have two defenders (Wilkinson and Turner) who are not regular starters for their teams?

Be pragmatic. I love Baines, I really do.

However, simply put they don't do cleanies and they have no strikers to finish his sublime crosses.

Keep Brown and focus on getting your Matas and Nanis of this world.

For next GW (already having Adebayor):

    a) Keep VDV and bring Nani and Jagielka for -4
    or
    b) drop VDV and bring Nani and Mata (or Baines) for -4

    Vorm
    Jones, walker, enrique
    Silva, mata, Ramsay, vdv, Moses
    RVP, ba, yakubu
    Krul, Taylor (swa), Simpson

Im loathe to get rid of vdv, as I think he's still got value. Nani seems hard to avoid, though. Thinking either vdv to him, or what about Jones -> Jagielka and Ramsay -> Nani? I have two free transfers...

Any reasons that we've found out since the game as to why VDV didn't take the penalty? Seemed very strange considering Adebayor missed the last one (even though he followed up).

Maybe VDV is going to be rotated so much they had to change the pen taker 😉

hhmmm...I don't want to catch "Give him one more game - itis" regarding VDV. I had that sickness last year with Drogba and Malouda around this time of the season.

I thought VDV looked very leggy today and there's every chance Harry will play Defoe VS Sunderland and maybe bring VDV back in for the Chelsea match. Plus the no pens/ corners make him look bad value all of a sudden. Plus the weekly heartache about his bloody hamstrings. Plus a busy Christmas schedule a comin'......he' out for me I think....maybe

    Opinions please on the options ;

    (a) VDV to Mata

    (b) VDV to Bale and Long to Sturridge (4 pts)

    (c) Long to Ba and Walters to 5.1m mid (4 pts)

I have a similar dilema this week, do I give VdV one more game and get him out before Chelsea and replace Brunt with Nani or do I take him out for Nani this week and give Brunt one more week. My issue with both is once I have Nani who do I replace VdV with, to me it's one of 3, Theo, Adam or Mata (but then is Mata and Studge too much Chelsea?)

Well Jarvis got his first assist since GW2 yesterday and looked impressive, whilst O'Hara move back to a deeper position has blunted him somewhat, I'd be tempted to go for Jarvis, if he's getting back to form he could be a major player.

Keep Sinclair. Can't do that move, would need more cash.
If you don't mind taking a 4point hit, move out Given for Ruddy, then Drenthe for Nani.

VDV was playing to deep most of the game and was pretty much anonymous. Bale played ok but was frustrated by good defending from Stoke although he did get some good crosses in.

VDV to Mata, Nani or Adam.
Things to consider- I already have Rooney and Evans- but no Chelsea or Liverpool cover besides Enrique.

I can do VDV -> Nani straight swap tonight before the price rise/drop

So should I do it now or keep VDV for one more week?

Okay, today was Adebayors 150th Premier League appearance. Maybe that was why he took the penalty? Just throwing it out there.
