With no televised (English) top-flight game yesterday, Sunday’s double-header has us eagerly anticipating some live Premier League action. The Dugout Discussion opens for the second day of Gameweek 15, with a relegation scrap and a game between two sides aiming for Europe.

We start at the Stadium of Light as Martin O’Neill takes over the reigns as Sunderland manager. His first assignment is against a Blackburn side whose manager, in total contrast, is hanging onto his job for dear life. Having said that, Steve Kean has a win against Swansea last week to build on. Here are the all-important team sheets…

Sunderland XI: Westwood, O’Shea, Bardsley, Brown, Bramble, Richardson, Larsson, Colback, Vaughan, Sessegnon, Wickham.

Blackburn XI: Robinson, Salgado, Samba, Dann, Givet, Formica, Dunn, Lowe, Pederson, Vuckevic, Yakubu.

Sunderland striker Niklas Bendtner is kept out with a groin injury, and in his place Connor Wickham gets his first league start since October. The visitors are also without a key striker, as Junior Hoilett picked up a training ground hamstring injury that sees him miss out.

Following that it’s over to the Britannia Stadium where Stoke City host Tottenham Hotspur. Stoke’s ambition this season will be to match last season’s success of reaching the Europa League, whereas the visitor’s will have their sights set on returning to Europe’s premier competition after a year out. That’ll then just leave Monday night’s grand finale at Stamford Bridge to bring the gameweek to a close.

    Ref aside, Spurs were still again wasteful in front of goal.

    Had about 60% possession as well...

      Ade should have had 2 goals. he was not offside.

      Stoke could easily have had 2 more penalties.

      Modric had two good shots which sorenson saved quite nicely.

      I personally feel Tottenham deserved more out of that game. Terrible refereeing

        Defoe had shots off target, Adebayor as well.

        VDV did nothing, Bale was doubled up most times and Stoke dealt with everything aerial.

        The ref was awful yes.

          yeah I am not great picking starting players...worse still I transfered in Vidic, Bale and Moses last week. Vidic injured, Bale two points and Moses on Bench..

    Seriously considering ramsey to ramires. Ramires is much improved and seems to average at least one 1 on 1 with the gk a week. Nice fixtures. After picking bale over nani this week am i losing it or is ramires a decent shout? Great fixtures and nailed on? Cant get on fpl anyone know his price?

    I am a Spurs fan.

    If I am not mistaking, we were robbed of 1-3 penalties, and wrongly flagged a goal for offside.

    You reckon we can feel hard done by today?

      Yes, very. Going to Stoke is tough, but we should've certainly come away with something. Ade's disallowed goal was fine, Shawcross handled on the line, Kaboul was fouled in the area + should never have been sent off. On the other hand, we are being wasteful with all the chances we create. At home it's fine, but away you have to take them.

      1 penalty given that wasnt. 2 that were but not given. Definitely onside altho i think that was part of the play involved in one of the pens not given.

      If the pen was given, Kaboul wouldnt have gone off either.

      In sumary, yes, the ref was poor.

        and I must ask: does a player have to fall down before a free kick can be given?

        of course not. although its not something to be proud of, Modric can rightfully show for the ref that he was kicked. its not a dive

        not sure its wise to mention that Crouch hand balled before assisting Ethers first goal

    Even Ovrebo does not come close to the abysmal refereeing from Chris Foy today. Commentators saying it is hard to pick out a star performer but that is very easy, it is Chris Foy!

      No good is harsh, but at 10 (penalty-taker and not affected by rotation) should come in a package. apparently he no longer satisfies any of them. plus, at least in the second half he was playing pretty deep.

        Well therein lies the rub. Of course you are right, when he plays he has the ability to score shedloads of points. But you need to factor in the games when he is sat warming your bench.

      He was a 10.0 MF playing upfront taking penalties corners and free kicks. I'm still reluctant to get rid of him, seems to score so heavily when he's on form.

      Not sure he's central enough to Spurs to be worth the money now...can be very explosive but with other cheaper ways into Spurs the upside isn't as worth it.

    i missed the first half, but even in the 2nd half it was evident how deep vdv was playing. And also since it's the rotation period, i am definitely getting rid of him.

      It was because Harry had to go for it. Defoe came on to play up top with Ade so thats why VDV was deeper.

      He played 3 5 2 in the second half with 3 centre backs and Bale and Walker as wing backs, hence Assou ekotto being subbed off.
