With no televised (English) top-flight game yesterday, Sunday’s double-header has us eagerly anticipating some live Premier League action. The Dugout Discussion opens for the second day of Gameweek 15, with a relegation scrap and a game between two sides aiming for Europe.

We start at the Stadium of Light as Martin O’Neill takes over the reigns as Sunderland manager. His first assignment is against a Blackburn side whose manager, in total contrast, is hanging onto his job for dear life. Having said that, Steve Kean has a win against Swansea last week to build on. Here are the all-important team sheets…

Sunderland XI: Westwood, O’Shea, Bardsley, Brown, Bramble, Richardson, Larsson, Colback, Vaughan, Sessegnon, Wickham.

Blackburn XI: Robinson, Salgado, Samba, Dann, Givet, Formica, Dunn, Lowe, Pederson, Vuckevic, Yakubu.

Sunderland striker Niklas Bendtner is kept out with a groin injury, and in his place Connor Wickham gets his first league start since October. The visitors are also without a key striker, as Junior Hoilett picked up a training ground hamstring injury that sees him miss out.

Following that it’s over to the Britannia Stadium where Stoke City host Tottenham Hotspur. Stoke’s ambition this season will be to match last season’s success of reaching the Europa League, whereas the visitor’s will have their sights set on returning to Europe’s premier competition after a year out. That’ll then just leave Monday night’s grand finale at Stamford Bridge to bring the gameweek to a close.

The Dugout Discussion chatroom is open for all today’s action.

    Edited :

I am facing a tremendous Dilemma about this…….

    Vorm westwood

    jones Richards Simpson Brown Enrique

    Mata Bale Sliva Walters Ndyer

    Rvp Ade Ba

I can't prove any valid reason from the front 8 to take out for Nani…. He is a
must haves now….. I need Nani badly now….can’t miss his haul.

Also is this transfers worth for a 4 point hit ?
    Walters ➡ Nani
    Adebayor ➡ Sturridge

Walters and Ade are worth in the team due to set-pieces and penos.

So what to do now ?

    Or

Richards:arrow: Shutton instead of ade transfer but this is not worth thou….

    Can you guys help me….

Why is Nani a must?,,,2 away games next and he hasn't done shit away from home in years apart from the odd goal.

bit desperate to bring in nani?

he has done well against wolves at home and suddenly he is the essentials?

a bit ridiculous if you ask me, wolves helped mask uniteds problems. They will struggle away from home in their next 2 games

Look at Newcastle's defence though, No S. Taylor for the season, maybe no Coloccini for another week, no Tiote in front of the back four, at the moment they'll struggle for cleanies, I reckon you'd be better off with Vorm than Krul.

But yeah, bringing Nani in now does seem like a good idea, even for a -4

    Planning to do these transfers:
    RVP > Ba
    Sturridge > Yakubu
    Drenthe > Nani

RVP's got two tough fixtures away from home whereas Ba and Yakubu have got two good fixtures at home.
Planning to bring RVP back in after those two gameweeks.
    Good transfers?

What did you buy RVP for, and how much cash will you lose?

Bringing in Nani isn't quite worth the loss of RVP imo, though its worth looking for any other way to get him in..

I bought RVP at about 11.2, so would lose 0.5 selling and rebuying him, that's quite a lot of team value to wipe off, especially as he can score against anyone..

Not very good. Would have had an assist if the Adebayors goal wasn't called offside (he was clearly on side by a good 2 yards). It also seems that Adebayor is taking the pens now but that could just have been for today.

    Vorm Westwood
    Enrique, BAE, Simpson, Wilkinson, McAuley
    Silva, Bale, Lampard, Drenthe, Pilkington
    RVP, Ade, Ba

I've suddenly realised how much value i've lost on Lamps, last week I should've just taken him out, but anyway, he's got to go now, so:

    Lamps/Drenthe to Nani/Adam?

Either that, or Nani and a midfielder up to 8.8, or a cheaper midfielder and upgrade BAE/Wilkinson/McAuley to Smalling, Jones or Verm

    What's most urgent?

Help. Think I need to get Nani in. But who do I get rid of and how do I pay for it?

    Vorm,Ruddy

Enrique, Richards, Vermaelen, Jones, De Laet
    Yaya, Silva, Mata, Bale, Dyer
    RVP, Ade, Studge

Easiest options seem to be - Yaya / Ade -> Nani / Cheaper stiker
Or Yaya / Verm -> Nani / Cheaper defender.

Trouble is I bought Richards early, so unfortunately am left with 3.8 if I sell him and do Yaya to Nani. And that gets you a grand total of naff all in the defender aisle. Grr. Maybe I just won't do anything.

I wouldn't really want to get rid of Verm, but you do have enough expensive defenders imo. So the 2nd 1 would make the most sense.

Whether you actually want to do it is enough question, not certain United are back to their proper goalscoring ways, they were only playing a Wolves side who decided to line up 4-4-2 at OT, which not a lot of teams do.

I think people might be being a bit hard on smalling, I didn't watch the game but caught the goal. Smalling didn't really give jarvis much of an opening, jarvis just dinked in a decent floated cross, fletcher happened to be in a good position against a short evra and a very good header, had the header been any lower evans would've been able to clear it over the bar

Jafa, with MON and Bramble it's difficult to know what to make of Sunderland's DF going forward. Brown to Evans may be worth a hit in the long term. I can see him playing the majority of games.

    Gabby and Naylor
    Simpson and McAuley
Evans week in week out may be the way to go. Can't see him ever doing a cameo. It's all or nothing.

      Two advantages of Evans:

      - he's cheap so even if doesn't play, he's not burning up your team
      - you'll play him every week more or less which means you'll need only 2 of the other 4 defs.

The problem with sticking with VDV is that is he even going to start next week after such a crappy performance and with his hammy still not looking 100%. They're playing Sunderland next week so Harry might be tempted to rest him so that he gets ample rest before the Chelsea game. Think Nani and Mata are the better options now. What do you guys think?

Gower potentially looks better value at 4.5. Guess I'm getting tempted with a Moses knee jerk following his goal.

I know this is in advance but as i am planning my transfers i would really like to know what you guys think. in gw 18, give the names of the 2 midfielders you would really like to have. my attack is rvp+ba+adebayor.
fixtures worth considering are -: wba vs mci, mun vs wig, nor vs tot.

    What to do:

    A) VDV and Ramsey > Bale and Nani
    B) Brown and Ramsey > Shotton and Nani
    C) Brown and Ramsey > Shotton and Silva

All options involves a 4 point hit

Team linked, 1FT and 2.8M in bank. VDV not on pens has lost his appeal for me.

    VDV--->Nani tonight.

I was conisdering Mata but Nani has slightly better fixtures. I will then have 2.9M to upgrade Drenthe, but it would be for a hit. Is Ramires worth a punt or go for Bale or another less than or equal to 8.9M.

Up to that price you've got Bale or Adam for all of your cash, or Walters/Larsson a step down, i'm not sure Ramires is worth an extra 1 mil over someone like Walters who is consistent and on pens..

Oh wait, looked at team, you have Walters, so I think VDV/Drenthe to Nani and Bale is a good move, your defence is alright, no need to worry there really..

VDV/Drenthe to Nani+Bale leaves no money but as you said I dont really need that money. I think I will do VDV to Nani for sure and then decide later in week to see if any injuries arise or if Moyes says anything on Drenthe. Bale doesnt look like rising soon, so I can wait on that call.

    Evening guys,

    Team is:
    Vorm - Ruddy
Baines - Caulker - Simpson- Vermaelen - Jose Enrique
    Sessegnon - Silva - VDV - Allen - Drenthe
    VP - Adebayor - Ba

Am I completely mad to do:
Sessegnon, Drenthe out. Nani, Ferguson in? (2 FT). I can only do this tonight before Nani rises. I don't see another reasonable way to get rid of Sessegnon and Drenthe and get Nani in.

    Cheers.

While you'd be wise to get Drenthe out, I'm not entirely sold on bringing Ferguson in before things get hectic and players are victimized by rotation.

It really leaves you playing one of Caulker, Simpson or Allen every week leaving an extremely weak bench in that scenario.

Ok guys for the first time in 5 weeks I've been knocked off the top of my ML, but the gap is only 5 points (and given I took an 8 point hit and he took nothing this week that is not bad.) Am not in panic mode and about to spend a whole load of points trying to claw back what can be overturned with 1 player, but am I after some advice on my moves for next week.

    Team is
    Vorm/Westwood

    BAE, Raylor, Jones, McAuley

    Tiote, Bale, Brunt, VdV, Silva

    Ba, RvP, Yak

I have 4.9 in the bank, however I want most of this to do Brunt - Nani

Any advice for this week? My idea was just to do Westwood - Hennessey and then get Nani in the week after and avoid a hit. What do you think?

Sort your keeper out with Jan WC, Hennesey isn't in any danger of keeping a WC so seems pointless to get him in.

Tough choice on the Nani thing, he's going to rise by 0.3 this week you would say, and Brunt has terrible fixtures after next week. I'd probably get him in now.

That wax my plan. Now VdV is not on pens he's sorta losing his appeal as 10 million is a lot to invest in 2 point player. May do VdV to Adam for week after. Did think of Mata, but not sure if him AND Stude would be overkill (I plan on swapping Studge for Ba in Gw18 or 19). Will hold of on Nani until 2moro or Tuesday just in case Silva gets injured. Oh VdV you big dilema you

My only worry is Vorm vs Ba, I don't like playing a keeper vs a striker, plus Swans aren't great away.

I will be in the same position but meh, got to happen sometimes. Surely you got to win one way or the other seeing as Ba is only one scoring Newc's goals??
