      what are you looking for in Baines?
      Everton very very poor in attack. 1000 crosses, 2000 corners of Baines still meanless if Everton cannt score a goal.

      and even Everton cannt keep CS, i have Jagielka now but feel wasteful 5.3M. Baines at 7.8M is horrible feeling

        Norwich and Swansea at home, Baines on pens and all set pieces. Everton will start scoring at some point and those 2 matches are a good place to start.

        He is also nailed on for every game over Christmas, has a double gw coming up and they are pretty likely to keep clean sheets too.

              Yeah ... pretty much this, plus Everton look tighter at the back than they did earlier in the season & I disagree with the set pieces comment.

              If he doesn't take all, he takes the overwhelming majority.

      Still a bit baffled why Ade took the penalty over VDV. If that's going to continue the VDV -> Bale move will be made by me rather soon I think. Should've been done about a month ago though. 😡

          After yesterdays effort, i'd captain Bale, Adebayor, Ba and Mata before considering him for the armband.

    Okay, seems like everyone doing the VDV > Nani this week (or had already done last week)
    Here's my thoughts (I have personally done it myself, but am a big VDV fan so I am trying not to be biased);
    VDV looked poor yesterday, and any man with half a brain (not sure if Redknapp counts though to be fair) would have seen he clear wasn't interested, or maybe wasn't fit. Think it showed that Spurs play better with Defoe, or at least that has been the case for the last 4 weeks. He may or may not still be on pens, but the fact is, he didn't take it yesterday, and Adebayor scored it. Whether this will continue or not, nobody knows, but if we were to assume one thing, it would be that he has lost them. He is still a good pick when playing, but will he play? After yesterday, I think he will be rotated more than I did before the game. Onto Nani - he has some almost irresistible fixtures, and with Ade/Bale from Spurs, and no United attack, I think it is a safer option. Also, people say that Nani struggles away from him (I was one that said this also, based on last years form) but he is averaging 6.6 per start away from home this season, compared to VDV's 6.1 per start at home, and QPR have conceded more goals at home, then Sunderland have away.
    Knee-jerk? Perhaps...bad knee-jerk? Who knows!

      Before yesterday's game I was set on VDV captain this week, but after his performance yesterday (and now possibly losing pens) I'm actually thinking of shipping him out, for Mata. Seems mad to take VDV out before Sunderland at home, but I am tempted nonetheless.

        i couldnt agree more - i have VDV and the only reason i have him is set piece duties which he gave up more than half of them and most important of all the penalty. I dont have Ade so thats a 10 point swing. Very frustrating. VDV out, Mata in for me

      If you've got Ade & Bale you shouldn't be too worried about VdV. I held off bringing him in a GW before he stopped scoring, so am glad that worked out.

      Spurs play midweek so if Defoe gets a rest, he'll almost certainly start at the weekend, and he still might if he plays the 90. Stoke put Spurs under a lot of early pressure, which didn't suit VdV, and he just couldn't get into the game, it's not every week you go to the Britannia, but 'Arry will have a big decision to make next week.

      Ade on pens will continue for a while I think too.

        I was all against selling VDV before the game, and even had him as VC for next week, he looked tired, shared set pieces and didn't take any penalties.
        It also saves me a transfer I'd have to do to get in United cover for WIG/BLA later on, if more pressing issues arose 🙂

      I'd stay clear. I will be getting Jags in as hes cheap and might be useful for the DGW. Yeah Baines might get the odd goal or assist, but he's not doing it at a convincing rate.

        My thoughts too, but still struggling with the nice fixtures coming up, DGW and the fact that Baines is on set pieces means is far more likely to out score Jags..........but could use the extra cash else where.......

            Few people seem to think it may be precautionary because of the injury.

            Granville also pointed out that Adebayor and Defoe discussed who was going to take it so it probably wasn't premeditated and VDV could have just said on the pitch he wasn't taking it.

            Either way not saying he has or hasn't lost them.
