A hugely significant fixture in the capital tonight, sees Chelsea host league-leaders Manchester City in the final outing of Gameweek 15. The Dugout Discussion has swung it’s doors wide open, so come and and digest the emerging team news…

Chelsea XI: Cech, Bosingwa, Terry, Ivanovic, Cole, Romeu, Ramires, Meireles, Mata, Drogba, Sturridge.

Man City XI: Hart, Zabaleta, Clichy, Kompany, Lescott, Barry, Yaya Toure, Milner, Silva, Balotelli, Aguero.

The visitors line-up exactly as expected, with Mario Balotelli partnering Sergio Aguero upfront, and Pablo Zabaleta replaces the injured Micah Richards. It’s the home side who make a couple of changes from the game at Newcastle, with the free-roaming David Luiz banned and the once guaranteed-starter Frank Lampard dropped. Jose Bosingwa comes in, pushing Branislav Ivanovic infield, as does Raul Meireles, slotting into the midfield.

You can access the Dugout Discussion chatroom right here.

Ok guys I have 1FT and only 0.1 in the bank

Team linked but I'll type it out for the more lazy of you 😉

    Vorm (Westy)
    Enrique Hibbert Simpson (Wilko) (Naylor)
    Silva VDV Drenthe Nani (Walters)
    RVP Ade Ba

What to do? I'm thinking either

    a) VDV>Mata
    b) VDV>Bale (bank a little cash)
    c) Drenthe>Jarvis/O'Hara (not keen on this one at all)
    d) Stick and hope for Drenthe to return and VDV to look more like his old self, plus bank a trannie for next week

Transferring VDV out to anyone is a big call, Id personally leave him this week for Sunderland (and you're not making profits anyway iirc from your previous post) and downgrade Drenthers to one of the the Swans' budget mid 🙂

Yeh I see your point Ila. If I was to get rid of VDV it should have been 3 or 4 weeks ago for Bale. Now I've come this far it does seem a little daft to cut and run now before he's made a full comeback.

But it's annoying having him there while he drops in price and does nothing

What is you own view on VDV, Gaff?

If you think VDV still has the potential to score big v SUN then you keep. However, if you think the injury will continue to impede performances and reduce his points, then I'd do B. I don't think anyone can answer this question. You have to take a view on it.

Fwiw, I went VDV->Bale two weeks ago.

My view is that in my eyes he was fantasy gold and well worth the few week wait to return from injury.

But after watching the Stoke game my beliefs have been rocked by his general lack of getting forward, and more importantly the loss of corners and PKs.

        Now I'm literally stumped :s

Hence me putting it to the FFS masses

          Time to get rid, Gaf.

          1) He might be benched against Sun for Chelsea.
          2) Loss of set-pieces might continue. No reason why Ade shouldn't continue on penos.
          3) Rotation risk always.
          4) Mancini might play Defoe & VDV, which would mean he would lose his value going fwd.

          Just my two cents.

Is there much point in having two defenders from the same team in your squad?

    ie.

    a) Brown and Shotton (then kompany to jones)
    b) Shotton and Shawx (can't afford kompany upgrade)

definitely want shotton in but not sure who I should take out.

The Tevez part is a joke right?

RVP to Rooney isnt so crazy but it is still unadvisable IMO. Yes Rooney has hinted that he might be back on form but RVP on the other hand is comfortably the most on form player in the whole game right now and shows no signs of letting up at all.

I want Roon too (esp as I'm a man utd fan) but I will look at other ways of getting him in. Like downgrading a MF and bringing Roon in for Ade or Ba

    hello

    Krul (Vorm)

    R Taylor, Enrique, Kelly

    Silva, Nani, Bale, Sessegnon, Eagles

    RVP, Adebayor, Sturridge

    (Eagles, Kompany, Brown)

I could spend the next couple GWs doing boring transfers like Sessegnon->Sinclair and Brown->Evans giving a very nice balanced looking team.

Better to have Sinclair(new) this week to replace sessegnon(tot) in my lineup or evans(qpr) to replace brown(tot) and bench enrique who would come on for kelly if he doesnt start?

I'm in two minds whether to swap Sess for Sinclair. I got rid of Sinclair a few weeks back because of the fixtures with a view to bringing back in.

Sess is currently OOP which is weighted against Sinclairs penalty duties. Although I expect a Newcastle tanking of Swansea this weekend, peno's could be likely with inexperienced CB's potentially.

I've gone out of my way and took hit to get Jones.

He'll pick up all the same clean sheets points, plus if he's in midfield his goal/assist threat is increased massively, as it looks like Carrick/Fletcher will play the holding role and Jones has more free reign to get forward.

Just a shame I ruled him out 5.7mil and 6mil because then he was a pure rotation threat.

        My change was

        Brown > Jones
        Ramsey > Gower

Although I see the two swaps the other way around ie Ramsey to Jones.

Agree think he's is playing very well in centre mid. I'm completely anti-hit unless I can't field a full 11.

I take it you had to get Gower to fund the transfer? I think Cabaye and O'Hara are looking good for the next couple of games if you had the extra pennies

Yeah had to do it to fund transfer and beat Jones first price rise of the week (looks like he will go up again) plus Gower will potentially go up this week too.

Think both are better for points than players that have gone.

I see keeping Ramsey for so long where he's playing well but scoring low the equivalent of 3 hits already!

              Fair enough, good transfers.

Ramsey has been playing very well but just not FPL wise. So close to scoring at the weekend which would have been a reward for me keeping him so long too aghhh. I'm top of my league even after a horrendous 32, luckily 2nd place got about the same too!

Jones has perhaps gone up a little too much in price to justify buying him. I bought him at 6.0 and sold when he we was 6.4 to afford Ade. It was a mistake, I should have found the cash from elsewhere.

He looks great in MF. He breaks forward all the time like Ramirez and is a big threat. I can see him scoring plenty of attacking points this year and of course getting 4pts per clean sheet in the process.

But at 6.6+ I just cant see me buying him again

This was my thinking aswell, 6mil and I might have considered it. I think Ramirez is on form but a bit of a hothead and doesn't get rewarded for the effort he puts in, FPL wise

Do you tink it's worth waiting to see what happens with the MON revolution at Sunderland?

Personally I'd be looking at trading Eagles. I held him for weeks after buying him after his double-figure GW and he did F* all.

The problem is Bolton are sliding into the abyss and Coyle seems to have no answer. Any fixture looks tough for them in this form.

I'd get rid of him for a B'Burn MF as your cheapie bench player. Then see how Sess does under MON and if you still dont like you can swap for Drenthe who will be back by then (please, please 😕 ) and will have a DGW coming up

sound advice. I dont mind eagles in my starting lineup for home games. looking for a mid that rotates with him and starting all the other attackers generally. drenthe fits the bill well and im hoping he returns too.

    my two for this week:

Kompany (the man is becoming a liability) > BAE

Sess > Ramires (and no, it's not a knee jerk. had him in my team earlier this season and he was on my radar for a few weeks).

    how's that grab ya?

      which would leave me with:

      Krul,
      Enrique, BAE, Smalling
      Silva, Ramires, Walters, Nani
      RvP, Ba, Ade

      Vorm, Drenthe, Naylor, Wilko

just to spread my bets and cover MCI, CHE, MUN, ARS and TOT.

      Ramires. Mmmmm

I'd personally be looking at Komp to a super cheapie (Shotton maybe) and upgrading Sess to Mata or Bale if funds allow.

I'm guessing Mata will still be out of range and you probably dont want to treble on Spurs so you could go fairly sideways and look at Larsson (scoring much better than Sess and on set-pieces)

        true, true.

but i already have Wilko warming my bench and don't fancy another STO when BAE has a decent tie at home.

and as you say, BAE, Bale and Ade is a bit much. maybe for the DGW?

Sess > Larsson could be a go-er but it is a bit sideways and not looking like a plum tie away at TOT.

Yep looks like a good team to me. I'd probably gamble and play Sess as I cant see Swans doing much up at Toon, especially with Tiote back but I think I'd be in a minority on that one. iI just think the MON factor could have an affect.

      Anyways the transfers look soild.

By the way I'm happy you helped to persuade me to play Vorm over Westy the GW just gone. I had a stormer and the double Swans (just about) paid off. It was tense reading the BBC live football ticker

But yeh I'd definitely play Krul over Vorm this week. Swans on the road are different animal to the Swans at home. and you'd be in starnge position wanting Ba to score whilst simultaneously wanting a cleanie for Vorm.

I asked this yesterday, but would appreciate some 'dead zone' views too...

Little obsessed to get nani for next week, so could you tell me your view on this.

    a) jones + drenthe => smalling + nani (-4) (Keepers; Howard/Vorm)
    b) howard + drenthe => 4.0 goalie + nani (-4) (can keep Jones, but have to play Vorm every week)

Everton has great fixtures, but not so convinced about clean sheets anymore and it seems that Howard don’t get that much save points. And drenthe, I don't afford another 0 for him.

    Cheers!

I'd go A if you dont feel you need the cash you could save from doing Jones>Evans instead of Jones>Smalling.

Smalling will offer a small attacking potential playing at RB, whereas Evans offers practically none. But the difference is negligable

evans gives cheap access to the ever rotating MUN defence but that's about all he will give.

smalling, at least, has a sniff of a chance of getting forward and possibly even heading a goal or two.

I wouldn't sell Jones if I were you, (although the sale to Evans has some merit). Jones is likely to play CM quite a lot and this increases his chance for goals and assists obviously. Being a United player he also has a good chance for clean sheets and attacking points. The best OOP player in the game I reckon

I wouldnt personally. There is too much of a risk for rotation IMO. Nani is about the closest to nailed on from Utds forward wingers.

My gut feeling is that Valencia will play in the more tough fixtures as he tracks back well and works hard for the team and Young will be unleashed on the dross at OT with Nani switching flanks as and when needed.

I have no evidence to back this theory up other than I havent missed a Man Utd game in donkeys and that was certainly how Fergie used Valencia for large parts of last season

Cant see any reason why that ratio will change as he's undoubtedly are most dangerous MFer.

But it is worth noting for all those scrambling to get him in their team that he is due a rest very soon. I'd guess this GW or the next

its the same thing every week, i see a transfer I want to execute because i want to get a player in whos rising and drop a player whos falling, when half the time the guy i get rid of does something or the guy i bring in does nothing and i could have saved the transfer.
So im wondering what the weather is like over there in England. Should I be anticipating some snow cancellations in the near future? Any outdated pitch problems like Blackpool's last year for the promoted sides? It would seem wise to have an extra freebie handy when the snow comes around.

My take on it was that he was trying to put off Hart. But the free-kick was taking too long to be taken and he finally realised what a d*ck he looked and stopped and wandered off to the side.

Yeah I thought that was his aim too lol, pretty funny really. I was on the train to work and had to resort to loading live commentary on my phone.

Sturridge is up there yes. The crowd after the Chelsea game were crazy keen on Mata though, might be different at this time of day. The problem is a lot of people cant fit Sturridge into their team as most have RVP, Ade, Ba. However for the Wigan game they can get Mata in for VDV/Silver 😯 easy enough

I think I started that lol because I was annoyed how everyone was so keen on him. A lot of people are agonising on whether to get Nani or Mata ATM

Because people wanted to sell Silver for him which is total madness. Especially when Sturridge does the same job for 3m less

But with other strikers doing better I understand why.
I have Mata/Silva/Nani/Bale now and Mata is my most preferred alongside Silva at the moment, mainly because I like how he plays though haha

no desire to to transfer out verm or richards? Seems like you could pocket some cash by finding a cheaper alternative who has a better shot at a clean sheet.

the new Bonus Points / EA PPI system is flawed, we all know that. Now let's see who gets the 3bps between Balotelli and Sturridge... I think there will be a lot of frustration once again.
