Frank Lampard was the man on the spot last night – his penalty winner from the bench seeing off Manchester City’s unbeaten league record – but a combination of Andre Villas-Boas’ team selection and his presence on our Suspension Tightrope has seen Fantasy confidence stall. It’s worth noting however, that Lampard’s fourth yellow was picked up as long ago as October, and he’s played a part in seven domestic games without further reprimand since. In the meantime, it’s been Lampard’s Chelsea midfield team-mates who’ve been picking up their fair share of bookings, with yellows shown to both Ramires and Raul Meireles in last night’s win, meaning they now take up the less than comfy seats alongside Lampard on the tightrope.

There are also two new additions from Sunday’s games, where Blackburn’s old stager, Míchel Salgado; and Lampard’s England teammate, Scott Parker; both fell foul of the referee’s notebook in losses to Sunderland and Stoke respectively. That takes the tightrope numbers up to 14 players, nervously tip-toeing their way through the remaining four gameweeks until the five yellow card amnesty kicks in on New Year’s day. They will hope that they don’t go the way of Gabby Agbonlahor – who, as detailed in Saturday’s article, fell off the high wire and into a one-match ban for the round of fixtures in gameweek 16, when his Aston Villa visit Anfield.

Moving on to the weekend’s red cards – we’ve already covered Dan Gosling’s straight red for an over the top challenge on Norwich’s Russell Martin; that will see him miss the next three for Newcastle (SWA, WBA, bol). Since then, we’ve also seen Younes Kaboul given his marching orders for two yellow card fouls against Stoke on Sunday, and Gaël Clichy similarly dismissed for a pair of punishable indiscretions in the 2-1 away defeat last night. Both these players will be missing for their clubs for their next matches, Spurs at home to Sunderland, and Man City hosting Arsenal.

A final point to note is that Luis Suarez, who was originally given until 4pm yesterday to answer his latest improper conduct charge (the gesture to Fulham fans), has had this deadline extended while he prepares his defence. With the other long standing charge already hanging over him, there is currently no word yet on whether this one will run and run as well.

Gameweek 16 Bans

  • Gabriel Agbonlahor (Aston Villa) – 5 Yellow cards (1 match)
  • David Wheater (Bolton) – 1 Red for serious foul play (Third of 4 matches)
  • Jay Spearing (Liverpool) – 1 Red for serious foul play (Second of 3 matches)
  • Gaël Clichy (Manchester City) – 1 Red for 2 Yellow cards (1 match)
  • Dan Gosling (Newcastle) – 1 Red for serious foul play (First of 3 matches)
  • Younes Kaboul (Tottenham) – 1 Red for 2 Yellow cards (1 match)

Suspension Tightrope – 4 bookings

  • Alex Song (Arsenal)
  • Stiliyan Petrov (Aston Villa)
  • Míchel Salgado (Blackburn)
  • Paul Robinson (Bolton)
  • Frank Lampard (Chelsea)
  • Raul Meireles (Chelsea)
  • Ramires (Chelsea)
  • Moussa Dembélé (Fulham)
  • Brede Hangeland (Fulham)
  • Steve Sidwell (Fulham)
  • Yohan Cabaye (Newcastle)
  • Ryan Shawcross (Stoke)
  • Glenn Whelan (Stoke)
  • Scott Parker (Tottenham)

            here's hoping.

during the whole VDV saga, i began to wonder about Silva too.

sure he's a big hitter but Yaya will work hard and get you points too. maybe on a smaller scale but that extra cash > Mata was too much to resist.

    Krul Kenny
    Jose Verm Evans Saylor Walker
    Silva Drente O'Hara VDV Dyer
    RVP Ade Ba

Lots of guys who could do ie Drente, Dyer and Saylor but not sure who for.

Ideally i'd like to lose Dyer now and then there is the matter of VDV??

I like David Dunn for the next 2 GWs. He's just played 90 minutes...and picks up bonus points at home regularly when fit. Plus, I think he has a good scoring record against Bolton. Crap fixtures GW 18 & 19 but 2 home games coming up. Maybe him in for Dyer. I'd keep Drenthe...he has 2 decent home fixtures too....with a double GW on the horizon

    Hennessey (Vorm)
    Naylor Baines Jones (Simpson)(Tierney)
    Walters Yaya VDV Bale (Hoolahan)
    Adebayor RVP Long

I know there's a fair bit that needs doing so that's why I thought it was best to save one now and make 3 next week?

I am about 100 points behind the leaders in my minileagues.
Is it time to start think about differentials?

    This is my team:
    Vorm Krul
    Jones Enrique Olsson Richards Simpson
Ben Arfa Bale Mata Silva N.Dyer
    RvP Adebayor Yakubu

    2.6 million in the bank.

Thinking about doing Jones->Smalling and Adebayor->Rooney for 4 point hit. Should I do it, or is it something else I should do instead?

I need more evidence that rooney is going to hit a run of form. Those transfers could work but I`d be tempted to hold off til after Saturday. Few teams have had easy games at QPR recently.

Remembe Ade has double gameweek in week 20 too.

I would do Jones to Evans. Going to get the same points as Samlling and save the cash. Then Maybe Yakubu to Ba or Sturridge. But not sure if the second part would be worth the hit.

And if you want to gamble Silva to Yaya. Might free up cash to get rooney back as well for Yakubu

Guys what are your thoughts on aguero next week? I have a sneaky feeling he could tear it apart.

But only way i can get sturridge and mata in is to sacrifice aguero and ramsey.

Thought Ryan Shotton looked really useful on Sunday, Defender playing in midfield, great long throw (Got to be a plus for a Stoke player), looked comfortable going forward and decent defenders around him. Has he come in as cover for someone or is he likely to hold his place for a while? Not really paid too much attention to Stoke this year. If so at 4 million looks a great diff, perfect fifth defender.

Hi guys… Firstly thanks to you all for your sound advise in the last couple of weeks..

I amm searching for more quality advise…

I am quite happy with my team except for the defense but that’s a different story.. What my question is I need to get rid of brunt. Kept him for too long. I have 0.1 in the bank and 1 FT. I was thinking to dump him for Cabaye. Is that a good idea? Or should I just leave it and wait for 2FT and sort my monk issue out as well?

Who else in that price bracket should I be looking at?

Once again – thanks in advance…

Coloccini, Ward, Foster can all go for cheaper options (NTaylor, Simpson, maybe Shotton or Wilkinson) which will give you funds to upgrade elsewhere.

I'd ditch Adam also, use whatever you have from those combined to get some premium mids in - Silva, Mata, Nani, VDV etc. Forwardline is fine as is.

    Hi peeps,
my mids have bring me little points last few weeks, so feeling like taking a 4 point hit to change the following.. (1FT, 1.3 bank)

    Sliva to Yaya
    Drethe to Nani

    Currently:

    Vorm, Westwood
    BAE, Raylor, Ntayolr, Brown, Enrique
    Bale, Arteta, Drethe, Eagles, Sliva
    Ba, Ade, RVP

Its seems a bit mad to change sliva, but yaya may be a better alternative and the extra cash can upgrade to Nani too. Or should i make other transfers that need more attention to?

    Thoughts pls? Thankk all.

I (C) him this week, my tip is to (v) someone safe (I did Demba Ba this week) then the only risk is that he comes on for 5 minute cameo and does nothing. Was pretty tight last night!

I think he'll start against Wigan though. Not a massive gamble really.

Right I am now fed up of my crap budget midfielders doing didly squat.
    Should I take the plunge?

    RVP--> Holt !funding!
    Brunt--> Nani
    Ramsey--> Mata

12 point hit as have already done Agbon--> Sturridge

I'm finding it really hard to find 3 Everton players that I want in my team even for the double gameweek.

Which 3 players would be on your radar? Not including Baines, he goes without saying if you can afford it.

Unless Everton's form improves, I'm going in the DGW with BAE, Bale, Adebayor and Jagielka.

the likelihood is imo that the everton players will only score between 1-2 in the spurs away game anyway so the double isnt that attractive

ill have bale vdv adebayor and possibly drenthe if hes fit to start this weekend

      Is there a point?
You won't want them after that, so you can save the WC another 2-3 weeks to see what transfers etc happen, and it is pretty much them versing Bolton + 1/2 points for Spurs game...

I echo y'all comments. Chances are I will only have 1 Everton player for the DGW, and it won't even be Baines.
