Frank Lampard was the man on the spot last night – his penalty winner from the bench seeing off Manchester City’s unbeaten league record – but a combination of Andre Villas-Boas’ team selection and his presence on our Suspension Tightrope has seen Fantasy confidence stall. It’s worth noting however, that Lampard’s fourth yellow was picked up as long ago as October, and he’s played a part in seven domestic games without further reprimand since. In the meantime, it’s been Lampard’s Chelsea midfield team-mates who’ve been picking up their fair share of bookings, with yellows shown to both Ramires and Raul Meireles in last night’s win, meaning they now take up the less than comfy seats alongside Lampard on the tightrope.

There are also two new additions from Sunday’s games, where Blackburn’s old stager, Míchel Salgado; and Lampard’s England teammate, Scott Parker; both fell foul of the referee’s notebook in losses to Sunderland and Stoke respectively. That takes the tightrope numbers up to 14 players, nervously tip-toeing their way through the remaining four gameweeks until the five yellow card amnesty kicks in on New Year’s day. They will hope that they don’t go the way of Gabby Agbonlahor – who, as detailed in Saturday’s article, fell off the high wire and into a one-match ban for the round of fixtures in gameweek 16, when his Aston Villa visit Anfield.

Moving on to the weekend’s red cards – we’ve already covered Dan Gosling’s straight red for an over the top challenge on Norwich’s Russell Martin; that will see him miss the next three for Newcastle (SWA, WBA, bol). Since then, we’ve also seen Younes Kaboul given his marching orders for two yellow card fouls against Stoke on Sunday, and Gaël Clichy similarly dismissed for a pair of punishable indiscretions in the 2-1 away defeat last night. Both these players will be missing for their clubs for their next matches, Spurs at home to Sunderland, and Man City hosting Arsenal.

A final point to note is that Luis Suarez, who was originally given until 4pm yesterday to answer his latest improper conduct charge (the gesture to Fulham fans), has had this deadline extended while he prepares his defence. With the other long standing charge already hanging over him, there is currently no word yet on whether this one will run and run as well.

Gameweek 16 Bans

  • Gabriel Agbonlahor (Aston Villa) – 5 Yellow cards (1 match)
  • David Wheater (Bolton) – 1 Red for serious foul play (Third of 4 matches)
  • Jay Spearing (Liverpool) – 1 Red for serious foul play (Second of 3 matches)
  • Gaël Clichy (Manchester City) – 1 Red for 2 Yellow cards (1 match)
  • Dan Gosling (Newcastle) – 1 Red for serious foul play (First of 3 matches)
  • Younes Kaboul (Tottenham) – 1 Red for 2 Yellow cards (1 match)

Suspension Tightrope – 4 bookings

  • Alex Song (Arsenal)
  • Stiliyan Petrov (Aston Villa)
  • Míchel Salgado (Blackburn)
  • Paul Robinson (Bolton)
  • Frank Lampard (Chelsea)
  • Raul Meireles (Chelsea)
  • Ramires (Chelsea)
  • Moussa Dembélé (Fulham)
  • Brede Hangeland (Fulham)
  • Steve Sidwell (Fulham)
  • Yohan Cabaye (Newcastle)
  • Ryan Shawcross (Stoke)
  • Glenn Whelan (Stoke)
  • Scott Parker (Tottenham)

Indy was here spamming about his site and people told him to take a hike.

then he tried to belittle those members by staing their rank and how he was so much better in the top 1000.

then he linked a team which was 26,000th.

then he changed his name to Football Fan but stupidly kept his original RvP grav.

then he changed his name to Mr. Goose and used a different RvP grav.

          loser, first class.

    Enrique
    Assou Ekoto
    Walker

The new BP system is FULL OF SH*T! How can Terry get 2 BP after he played so poorly? The goal was clearly his fault. Vermaelen who kept a clean sheet, scored a goal and assisted another last week against Wigan only got bonus 1. The inconsistency is just not fair. Scott Parker, who has arguably been the player of the season will never see a single bonus point.

I want the old BP system back.

Guys at FS have a word with the guys at FPL, because their stupid system just doesn't make any sense at all!!!!!

    Walker
    BAE

I think Terry deserved his bonus points more than Sturridge, for what it's worth. Generally solid at the back against the most free scoring team in the league, and played a glorious cross ball for the first goal, which directly put Sturridge 1on1 against Clichy. Don't think last night was one of Sturridge's best games for Chelsea.

Hello. I don't think that's an amateur error. Those who got Nani this week made a very very good move and was aided by some circumstances.

I just don't know about VDV yet. Ideally I'd like to keep but I fear he'll be rested and that would suck. Every day I delay my decision I lose 0.1. Horror situation.

        What's your idea?

I'm in same boat. Spent all last week thinking I should do VDV to Nani, but in the end did Ade to Ba. Partial reason for this was Nani's subsequent double away games. VDV at home now could do wonders, but as you say, could be rested.

Had planned on brining in Baines this week - certainly need to do something clever with my defence. Should I also take a 4 point hit subbing VDV for Nani?

Other concern is Pilkington, who is now not playing 🙁

      ah...answered above...thanks Gargamel. I think...!
The thing is the bonus points dont seem to either:
      reward the game changing incidents
      or
reward the best player on the pitch
wish it would do one or t'other

It rewards goals most of all, which must be game changing. The best player overall can easily be overlooked, especially if it's a DMF or a striker shooting off target. Some stats are clearly overrated most notably shots off target which I'm not sure should be rated negatively at all.

work out when you plan to wildcard and then check the players that you are happy with up until that point, then work out how/when you will shift the ones you arent happy with

youd want rvp back for gwk18 so using 2 transfers on him this close to a wc is madness

Not a fan, but I think the consensus was Jarvis plays better in a 4-4-2 and O'Hara plays better in a 4-5-1. Fletcher picked up a knock at the weekend, so it's worth monitoring his fitness before you make a decision.

I'd go Baines - think Everton are looking tighter at the back and if they score, he's looking fairly likely to be involved.

Anybody on here do the skysports fantasy footie? im currently 202nd in the overall league on that. Can have so many superstars in your team though, no where near as much skill required compared to FPL.

Looks like I'll offload Howard to get Nani in. After this move I'll be playing Vorm in every game and that's why I've been playing with idea to get Hilario for my second keeper...he's 3,9 and that's of course my only reason to get him.

With this bold/stupid move, I'm just able to change brown to hibbert before dgw.

Winter is coming so this might hurt me, but hey rms (rate my stupidity)!

    Current Team:

    Vorm / Westwood
    Kompany / Jones / Simpson / Wilkinson / Hall
    Silva / VDV / Bale / Sinclair / Ferguson
    Adebayor / RVP / Ba

Got 2 free transfers and not sure how to use them, happy with the forwards, want to bring Nani in due to Man United fixtures , but for VDV or Silva? Was originally thinking VDV out but Tottenham have easier games in my opinion and VDV has more fantasy potential then Silva I feel, but I'd like someone elses view.

Also where should I use my other transfer / take any hits? I'm not happy with Sinclair (despite 11 points last week lol), possibly Ferguson because ofc he's cheap but will never play, want rid of Westwood for someone who will rotate with Vorm, and Wilkinson/Hall havent been playing either.
    What to do?
    Thanks

Nah. Not as good as Sorenson of a few seasons back.

          That was class!

And possibly Schmeichel when 4.0 at Man City!

Sorensen and Hart, both at 4.0.... Ahhhh... Those were the days.

To be fair, Krul/Vorm has been sensational this season.

Who would you rather over the next 6 weeks or so, Ade or Rooney?

I already jerked Lamps to Nani this week, but am tempted to do some more, as I can bring Rooney in for a hit with

    Ade/Pilks to Rooney/Gower

      Difficult one
Pilks was on bench last week not sure happening to him
Ade is 5 weeks from dgw
SAF has said he will rotate over xmas - could involve the pig or might find himself playing defensively again
I hate taking hits so would do Pilks/Gower and free up the cash

I have Adebayor and he is frustrating, really fired up at moment but not the calmest striker of the ball!!!
