The impossible has happened. After five long years, Michel Vorm delivered my first penalty save of my Fantasy Football management career. There could be no question – this latest episode had to be dedicated to Swansea’s Dutch stopper.

Ironically, it follows last week’s outing that found me lamenting my cursed luck. Vorm answered my prayer (or moans – Mark) – the monkey is finally off my back, and I can hardly contain my joy during this week’s session.

Elsewhere, the regulars are scattered around discussing the dubious merits of Jonny Evans, talk a hamstrung Van der Vaart, the shifting goalposts of the Fantasy Island Risk and Mark’s quest to win his own Cup competition. The selfish bugger.

Come get some here.

    I used my wildcard this week, team as follows;

    Krul
    Jones Simpson Baines Ekotto
    Sessegnon Nani Bale
    Ba Sturridge RVP

    Vorm Walters Moses Taylor

Mata, Enrique and Vermualen are tempting but I cannot seem to fit them in, do I keep this team or do I have more of a play?

    Thanks!!

I think Baines is a good pick right through to the double week. Get rid of Sess though, Larsson is the midfield pick for Sunderland. You can save $$$ by dumping Krul and get in Sorensen.

I just can't see Baines being worth 7.8 when Evans is 4.3 and has more chance of keeping clean sheets then Baines which is already 6 points, can't see Baines getting anymore then 10 points and that is IF he scores.

get rid of Baines - he's tying up too much cash.

money should be splashed out in Forwards, then midfield, then Defence.

      I would go:
      Krul (Vorm)
Jones, RTaylor, Smalling, (N Taylor, Gabbidon)
Nani, Bale, Walters, Charlie Adam (Gower)
      Ba, Sturrdige, RVP

    GW16:

    Westwood
    Simpson Enrique Jones
    Mata Bale Sliva Nani
    RVP Sturridge Ba

    Vorm: Brown Richards Ndyer

How is this looking? Took a 4 point hit on it, but
    quite pleased.

Does anyone think De Laet will get back in the Norwich team when he's fit? FPL has him back this weekend, but apparently not playing per previews. Not worried this weekend, but if I carry him through the Xmas period and end up needing to go deep on the bench is there any chance of him playing? Canaries fans anywhere? Only have him because he's the defender equivalent of Ferguson, but would be nice if he was likely to play.

Vorm is a better option than Westwood, Tottenham surely will score 2 or 3. Newcastle average 1.4 goals a game at home; Vorm has a chance to keep it tight.

Go with Jones and Enrique, no idea who "Sims" is.

On captaining... I haven't seen anyone mention David Silva for captain position. Maybe it's because I'm a Spurs fan, but I can see him being trouble for Arsenal at home, especially on the back of Citeh's first league defeat of the season. I know he hasn't been scoring for fun lately, but... Am I being mad?

Hi all....Brand new to FFS and first year of playing PLF...Learning a lot and having fun, but I have a question. The TOT vs. EVE in GW20 is a rescheduled match from first game of season. All PLF players selected players for that first week of games and I thought we were told we would receive points for the rescheduled match when it was eventually played. How is it that everyone can now load up on players from those two teams now to benefit from the double games that week when they didn't select those players from their first week selections. Seems an unfair edge, as those of us who committed to players for those teams in GW1 never saw those points. Do I have it wrong?

The game will now be a part of GW20 .. I know its a bit harsh on people who had Spurs and Everton players in their teams in GW1 but that is how the rules of this game are and we all have agreed on that when registering on the fantasy website..

Seems like a flaw in the system. I figured they would simply save our selections and award our GW1 selection's points when it was eventually played. Now we are penalized. Sigh.

From a technical and logistical point of view I think it would imagin that it would be difficult to "save our selections" on any GW where a scheduled match isn't played.

In any case, dont think about it as being 'penalised' in GW1 think about it as an 'opportunity' in GW20!

Hmmmm...you have three expensive defenders...naughty, naughty...but you are redeeming yourself by booting Bad K 🙂

Naylor at SWN is a good option for the price 4.3 and cs when at home. There's also Caulker at 3.9.
Hibbert at 4.8 has the fixtures.
If you didn't have Jones, then Evans 4.4 is great value if he starts.
Simpson 4.1 at NEW has great fixtures too. 😉

Your midpark has a lightweight feel to it which is a result of the expensive defenders. Nani/Mata need to be considered.

My strategy is based around three heavy hitters in midpark. So you have to get one of the budgeritoes - prob Larsson - if you are to have any chance of affording Nani/Mata.

        Very g'morning Jafs!

I know right - Mata looks like a no-brainer this GW. But what stops me?
        1) Getting rid of Sinclair goes against my principle of "never transfer out an in-form player"
        2) Mata should play 60 odd mins, to be fresh enough for Tot.
        3) I really really fear the Pig over GW18 & 19 - leaving some $ in the bank would let me upgrade Ba to the Pig in GW18 or Ade in GW20. Thinking of doing Given > Moreira/Cerny in GW17.

Hmmmm. I think i'll stay put despite my desire for Mata.

Well personally I'm not worried, Ba has proven consistency (more so than Rooney since the Bolton game ages ago) and has Bolton who are the worst defence in the league in GW18 and then an easy Ba > Sturridge GW19 for me.
Don't think it is worth breaking the bank for him just yet, especially as you got Nani and probably wouldn't captain him over RVP in those 2 fixtures..well I wouldn't at least.

No denying that Ba is a quality player and that he is likely to score 75% of Newcastle's goals.

But you also can't deny the world-class service which Rooney gets from Nani/Valencia/Young etc., which could be be severe against Wigan & Blackburn, possibly the worst defences in the league.

At least I'd want to do Ba > the Pig in GW19 even as a one-week punt.

Well I wouldnt sell RVP or Adebayor for him, and the fact that he is 5.0 more than Ba (for me anyway) I don't see the point..
I'd have to downgrade a midfielder, and I'd lose tonnes of value on Bale (who has easy fixtures + double) and Silva who also has nice fixtures, there'd be no point me selling Nani to fund for Rooney, so the only option is Mata, who i'd already lose 0.2 and would want him back anyway.
Plus I would have to downgrade to a

        Well I guess.

But Chelsea are showing some very good form & mata's always been at the centre of most attacks. He could wreak some havoc against wigan too.

Sinclair, on the other hand, tends to go on a run of good games. That's what worries me, since he had a pretty good game last GW. Plus, he's on Pens. On the other hand, Rodgers barely attacks on the road.

Do you reckon it would be wise to leave some $ in the bank for the Pig, in case he returns to his deadliest best?

      Just minor quibbles:

Ruddy as a partner to Vorm needs an upgrade e.g. Krul.

I was going to sguuest swapping ShawX out for a bench defender... but it's not like they have any better fixtures.

You've got the gun midfield and forwardline, just need to shore up the defence. ShawX out for a cheaper defender (teammate Shotton maybe?) would free up some funds to upgrade Brown?

I'd make Dyer first sub also - not likely to get more than 2 points from your bench defenders, might as well take the gamble Dyer jags a goal/assist.
