QPR play host to Manchester United in an earlier than normal kick-off as Gary Neville sets in for a triple header of televised “Super Sunday” fixtures – with a fourth game off screens for good measure.

Neil Warnock drafts in Matthew Connolly for the injured Anton Ferdinand while Heidar Helguson returns from injury himself. Ferguson must have a temperature as he makes the rare decision to field an unchanged side from that which beat Wolves – his usual fables on the injury front also show Javier Hernandez fit enough to return to the bench. United XI: De Gea; Smalling, Evans, Ferdinand, Evra; Valencia, Carrick, Jones, Nani; Rooney, Welbeck (Subs: Berbatov, Giggs, Park, Hernandez, Young, Lindegaard, Fryers.).

Fantasy Managers will then have to settle in for not just Aston Villa hosting Liverpool but Manchester City against Arsenal on television screens. Plenty of captain’s armbands will be following Spurs vs Sunderland also going on while these two games take place.

This Dugout Discussion is also my last planned contribution for quite some time so I’ll wish you all many happy returns over the hectic festive period of football coming up while I’m here. Thanks for your continued support over what’s been a grand old 2011.

    Would have liked a bit more from Rooney(c), Nani and Jones but I will take it. The unholy trinity looked good with great fixtures to come, Nani was just unlucky today imo, players didn't get into good enough positions for his crosses

      Nani was unlucky! He tore QPR apart, his flank was the most dangerous one. Obviously wanted more than 3 for him today but you just have to place faith in probability and know on another day he could have got 3+ assists and scored one himself. Plus, was it Jones who hit the post?

      Ah well, 3 and 5 with a tiny chance of BPs. Not so bad.

          carrick outstats him. rooney 4 shots, 2 on target, 1 goal - carrick 1 shot, 1 on target, 1 goal, + played 90mins, + a block + a load of interceptions + a load of tackles. valencia 1 assist, 1 shot, 1 on target + played 90mins + 3 completed crosses.

    Early season United are back! That was a rampaging, attacking, quite cavalier offensive performance! Dilemma for me now because while I have Nani I also have Jones, and he is still well involved in United attacks which means it's going to be harder to downgrade him for Evans now. He could have assisted or scored today, easily.

        He was named man of the match by ESPN if that's worth anything... can't imagine him getting less than 2. Might be tricky for Carrick to get 3 and doubt Valencia will get 3 compared to everyone else, so Rooney is favourite for 3.

      Apart from the obvious Rooney / Nani threat.
      I personally think Jones is a brilliant shout.
      Not only do you have the points for cleanies but he looks a great shout for picking up goals/assists.

    Pretty pleased with that result, quite low returns for United attack, with the exception of Rooney goal, feeling a little better giving RVP the (c), unless Ade goes goal crazy! It's murder watching my other potential (c) choices playing before the City/Arsenal match!
