With the dust barely settled from the weekend’s action, Gameweek 17 is upon us immediately and we’ve still the small matter of announcing the Round Five fixtures for the Paddy Power Cup V. Before that however, let’s take a minute to reflect on the results from Round Four, which can be viewed right here. The headlines…

A brand new name will be etched onto the mythical Cup, as reigning champ Ninja_Fit_Saints become the fourth and final former winner to meet his match. Mayhey Kid took the scalp 56 – 39, to complete the four-week demise of the Cup royalty.

There’s no stopping Mark though, who dispatched Hassyg 72 – 55 booking his place in the last 64. That score of 72 earned the Scout leader a bronze medal for the week, bettered only by Dyslexia United‘s 73 (- 32 Tommytabs123) and Milton Millieiscos‘ top-scoring 77 (- 46 F.Y.F.B).

Now, onto the fifth round draw… The 32 fixtures are available to peruse right here.

The highest-ranked fantasy manager left in the competition is non other than Der-Hammer95, sitting a hugely impressive 356th overall. He comes up against s4petah, who beat the round three top-scorer at the weekend.

Mark’s fine run looks set to continue, as he has drawn the lowest-ranked manager left in the competition, Mighty Manchester.

Good luck to all 64 participants, and we’ll bring you the results and subsequent fixtures in plenty of time before the Boxing Day Premier League games.

    Happy with my team but was wondering if i should get Evans in for Wes Brown this week or save my transfer? 0.3 million in bank. 1 FT for gameweek 17.

    Vorm

    Bale
    PP = 8.5
    CP = 8.9
    SP = 8.7

    What are other Bale owners doing? Might we may be seeing the end of Bale's nice little run?

    I know he's only injured but the key this season has been to jump on and jump off bandwagons at will. What if we see the dreaded return of his consistent 2 pointers?

      this is where DGWs can be a problem more than an advantage. Last year there was a DGW where I WCed someone in because of the double 3-4 gws later. Well he did nothing in the 3-4 weeks leading up to the double, knew his form was bad, but thought it unwise to drop because of upcoming double, well he didnt do anything for the double either. Would really help the anecdote if i had a friggin name, but oh well. Im going to make the same mistake again. Unless an injury keeps one of bale or adebayor out for a determined length, they stay through the DGW regardless of the possible 2's in the boxscore.

      I think I'm happy with him for now...he's been arguably Tottenham's best player the past few games (minus the last one ofc). He was very unlucky to get nothing vs Stoke. I'm not sure I'd get rid so hastily. I do agree not holding for too long is key, but with the DGW coming up I think you may have to ignore that rule for Bale...

      I've got rid of him, for now. I transferred out for Valencia as Spurs seem to be slowing down a bit and Utd's fixture run of fulham, WIGAN, BLACKBURN was too tempting for me to ignore. I bought him at 8.7 and sold at 8.8, if I was going to lose more ££ I probably wouldn't have taken him out.

      I'm planning on doing a double transfer in GW 20 to get in Bale/VDV (already have Ade).

          Definitely Pilkington. If he's in for Surman, then he'll take over the set pieces, making him very useful. But if I'm being honest, Moses might be the best budget midfielder option

      everton QPR TOTTENHAM aston villa ARSENAL sunderland CHELSEA

      Sure you'd play him the next two, but after that it gets a little tough, how about Hibbert? Or maybe if you have a little more funds look at Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs, United defenders. Maybe Evans...

        there was a really good post someone put up yesterday about the benefits of going for the boring players. Tiote 's bonus potential is a bit boring, but Moses' fixtures are terrible. By the same token so is Gomez's but being on penalties and a strange magnet for bonuses makes me think of the three the consistent Gomez is the top choice, then Tiote, then Moses.

        And yes I know about ACON....but there's a wildcard then...by which time Tiote is likely to have gone up in price.

      I think Tiote's a good call. Cheap at 4.4 and likely to play. Most folk on here will tell you Gomez or Moses, which are probably the better pics if you are going to play them regularly. If you're not going to play them regularly why pay more than you have to for bench fodder?

          +1. Craven Cottage is a tough place considering United have never won there since 2008.

                you either have never done something, or you have not done something since.....

                you cant have never done something since some other time, that would instantly make "never" inaccurate.

            I am also a United fan but a trip to Fulham always fills me with a bit of scepticism
            Tight and narrow pitch means our wide players will be ineffective. I hope Fergie keeps faith with the same line up at QPR.

            Helguson always tickles my taste buds, but I have a bit of a thing for him. I guess Norwich have pretty good fixtures, and Morison is the most consistent and nailed on scorer

    Lads, I have two free transfers this week, and I truly cannot see any transfers that are needed, or that I even want to do. Heres my team.

    Krul (Vorm)
    Evans Jagielka Simpson (Enrique, Taylor (swans))
    Silva Nani Sinclair Bale (Ramsey)
    Sturridge Adebayor RVP (C)

    Any ideas? I kinda wanna keep Ramsey for WOL, QPR, as hes been close to being amongst the points nearly every week. The only other option is Sinclair, possibly to Drenthe? However I don't see Everton scoring many (if any) past the Swans... Hmmm, advice appreciated (Y).
