[sbu_large_image] The Knee Jerk

And relax. Even before tomorrow night’s top of the bill clash at the Lane, this is no ordinary gameweek. Wednesday’s avalanche of goals and assists left us breathless at times, as United and City ruthlessly exposed opponents who simply looked out of their depth. And yet, as anticipated in yesterday’s preamble, there were cruel barbed surprises packaged amongst the night’s bounty of points.

The goals flowed, with popular Fantasy properties delivering – Nani, Sergio Aguero, Robin Van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Demba Ba – all players that boast huge ownerships throughout the Fantasy games, came good. Incredibly, the defenders also got in on the act: clean sheets for City, United, Liverpool and even Everton, brought profits at the back, on a night of handsome attacking hauls.

For some however, the clean sheets were soiled. The jaw injury sustained by Phil Jones will have robbed many of rewards from United’s win – a potential absence, with early reports already suggesting six weeks – will perhaps hit harder than the points lost. We await news from tomorrow’s x-rays, keeping the knees from jerking until we have confirmation.

The withdrawal of Micah Richards on 58 minutes was even more sickening. Feeling the effects of Dean Whitehead’s studs down his calf, the raiding right-back was preserved by Roberto Mancini, just two minutes from claiming his Fantasy owners a clean sheet from City’s oh-so comfortable win.

Twenty-four hours ago, we discussed such twists. The injustice will be hard to swallow right now, but those who felt the sting of tonight’s events, can be assured that these won’t be the last curveballs thrown. Off to the Lane.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

have you seen the top scorer of the week so far? Nothing too odd about his team but the poor guy appears to be in a league with only two other people....both of whom are himself.

    RVP (C) - 3x2 =6?
    Nani - 3?

wenger said that he resisted the temptation to rest rvp against villa...i guess its safe to say he won't play more than 30 mins against wolves if he played in the first place right? so who to captain nani, ba ,ade, vdv or silva?

Hopefully Wenger has learnt his lesson never to bench RVP. Instead let him play, get ahead then sub him!

We'll see though. Massive possibility of rotation over the next 2 games. Think I'll still be giving him the (c)

    Quick question:

Who could score more points within a next three GW?

    A) Smalling playing 3 games (Wigan, Blacburn home, NEW away)

    B) Walker playing 4 games (Norwich, Swansea away, WestBrom, Evertonm home)

Sure, it is transfer for P.Jones.

    Thanks.

Ok, Walker or BAE, one of them. But how many CCs could they get within next 4 games? 1, maximum 2. Smalling (if he plays) could also get 2 CSs wtithin his three games....

            But Smalling could be rotated.

Doing 2 hits (-8pt) is not worth.

Playing the % and taking very few hits isn't really working for me this season. Have been stuck around the 40-50k mark for weeks and looking to be a bit more cavalier to push forward. Already used my freebies this week but more than happy to take hits if they're worthwhile. Any ideas?

Not transferring just yet but who to swap Jones out for?

I have Enrique, Evans, Simpson and Boyata at the moment. Current thinking is one of

    Skrtel/ Agger
    Smalling
    Walker

I don't particularly need the money that Smalling brings to the table so that's not an issue. Thinking Liverpool is the safest option simply due to less rotation vs Smalling. I don't think Smalling will be rotated over christmas but it's a possibility.

    What do we think?

Do you need to make a transfer. Simpson, Evans and Enrique are a solid back 3 for this week.

Nope not right away but rather have 2 'Pool players than 1 'Pool 1 Newcastle. We'll see though. Tempted by Ba to Sturridge but again may just save the transfer this week and worry about it next week.

Ba should be good for one more game.

I am thinking Walker/BAE or Smalling. cannot decide. Would not go for LIV, but only my opinion. Smalling should not be rotated. For safetu, play TOT, they will have more games, and all easy ones.

I'd get rid of VDV or Bale (depending on their fitness). You can get them back for the DGW, so no worries there. Personally I'm no a fan of having three attacking players of one club.

Hey guys, my weak defence is costing me too many points lately. I have two freebies so I'm gonna use it to upgrade my defenders. In which order would you rank the following players over Christmas?

    Vermaelen, Evans, Smalling, Enrique, BAE

      Verm
      Evans
      Enrique
      BAE
      Smalling

toss up between Verm and Evans for me. fixtures in united's favor, but verm a real goal threat.

enrique for CS out of his fixtures, but without someone converting crosses in the box, his attacking points will be minimal.

smalling probably now nailed on, but won't move him up the ladder until that's been borne out.

Vermaelen - good fixtures, will play every game, good goal threat
Enrique - like Vermaelen, good fixtures/nailed on, always dangerous down the left
Smalling - decent assist threat, brilliant fixtures, slight threat of rotation
Evans - same as Smalling minus assist threat, but got a few chances in the QPR game
BAE - never really been a fan tbh, he's nailed on to start each week, but has only got 2 assist I think, and one of them was a lucky bounce off his shin, decent CS chance with those fixtures though.

I see that Alan Hansen is now facing problems after using the term "coloured" in reference to black players last night. It jarred at the time. MoTD isn't live is it? Or perhaps it was last night, coming so soon after the games ended. If it wasn't live, you'd think the BBC would have edited it.

just in case those just in aren't reading through the previous 17 (17! that should be an indication to the staff that a new article is long overdue!) pages of posts, here are my BP predictions based upon ICT scores only.

    MCY-STK: Aguero 3, Yaya 2, Nasri 1
    FUL-MANU: Giggs 3, Nani 2, Rooney 1
    WOL-NOR: Surman 3, Milijas 2, SEB 1
BLA-BOL: Reo-Coker 3, Hoilett 2, Yakubu 1 (which seems wrong as BOL won, but that’s what the stats say)
    AVL-ARS: RVP 3, Albrighton 2, Arteta 1
    NEW-WBA: Ba 3, Odemwingie 2, Scharner 1
    EVE-SWA: Osman 3, Drenthe 2, 1 who knows
    QPR-SUN: Sess 3, Richardson 2, Helguson 1
    WIG-LIV: Al-Habsi 3, Johnson 3, Figueroa 1, Enrique 1

I have no idea what I’m doing, just looking at ICT indices. Hard to figure how clean sheets figure, but I’m guessing that defenders get a boost to the head of the queue when no goals are scored (a la WIG-LIV).

Morning Gents, penny for your thoughts:

    1) Ward --> Evans (free)
    2) Ward --> Shotton & Silva --> Nani (4 pt hit)
    3) Other? (Team linked)

It seems crazy taking a hit to get rid of Silva but with those Man Utd fixtures and his current form, it could well be worth it.
