Early reports are suggesting that Rafael Van der Vaart could be out until the New Year with further hamstring problems.

The Dutchaman was replaced at half-time in Thursday night’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea with the suggestion that Van der Vaart had aggravated his hamstring once again. This was later confirmed by Harry Redknapp in his post-match comments.

“He just seems to have a hamstring problem all the time. He is a great player but we need to keep him fit.”

The BBC article reports that, when quizzed whether Van der Vaart would be missing beyond the end of 2011, Redknapp replied…

“Yes, it looks that way.”

Presumably scans of the injury will follow, with a full prognosis hopefully on offer well before Tottenham’s visit to Norwich on December 27. Right now however, Van der Vaart’s involvement in that game, and even Tottenham’s double gameweek fixtures with West Brom and Everton on January 3 and 11, currently look in doubt.

Still claiming over 10% ownership in the Fantasy Premier League, Van der Vaart will surely suffer heavy sales in that game. His price dropped below his initial value to 9.9 only this gameweek; we can expect a further decline if a term of absence is confirmed.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

very nearly hit the make transfers button on these moves for a 4pt hit:

    dzeko-->morison; jones-->evans; eagles-->nani to give me a team of

    vorm, krul,
    enrique, evans, raylor, naylor, simpson
    vdv, silva, nani, ramsey, gower
rooney, ade, morison & 0.5m in the bank

but with this latest vdv injury news, i'm not sure again. any thoughts on what to do?

I'd also be concerned over the lack of Chelsea coverage... considering you already have Rooney how about:

      VDV > Valencia/Mata/Walcott
      Ramsey > Walters
      Dzeko > Sturridge

We all get a Wildcard in two GWs time so just plan for the next two weeks - lots of teams with two tasty home games in a row (Arsenal, Bolton, Chelsea, Liverpool, Stoke)

i like sturridge more than mata from an fpl perspective....just not sure if mata's returns are worth 9.8m so far but that could all change of course.

        how about
dzeko --> morison; ramsey --> bale; vdv --> nani?

Was thinking straight swap taylor for johnny evans??? good idea?

Now with VDV out should i take a four point hit and put in Nani? That would leave me with no spurs players and i would need to swap adam possibly for bale in the double gameweek?

    what you guys think/

        Krul/Ruddy

        Simpson/Enrique/Baines

        Adam/VDV/Walters/Drenthe

        Aguero/RVP/Sturridge

        B: Wilkinson, Tiote, N Taylor

i want rid of Baines after the double gameweek, Drenthe gona stick with as he seems to be back to fitness, Walters got good run, simpson and krul im not sure about as newcastle are dodgy the now

I ink i could maybe bring in evans and mata? and then the following gameweek take out adam and put bale back in? to cover me for spurs?

i aint quite sure if man utd will dominate wigan, wigan have been defending well

Walters is a hot tip round here, and I get why, but thinking of Dempsey as a differential.

This would cost a 4pt hit btw.. but its a mid/long term decision i.e. for 4+ weeks

Ok i know this is quite a boring list of players but any of these moves appeal?

    a) Baines & O'Hara > Evans & Walcott/Adam
    b) Baines & O'Hara > Huth & Valencia
    c) Baines & Ba > Evans & Adebayor/Hernandez
    d) Baines & O'Hara > Vermaelen & Sinclair
    e) Baines, Jones & Ba > Evans, Shawcross & Rooney (4 point hit)
    f) Baines, Jones & O'Hara > Evans, Mata, Koscielny/Huth/ (4 point hit)

Dunno about that.. gw19 has Ba away to Liverpool, I'd prefer Ade away to Swansea, considering double gw after that. Would also be switching VdV to either Walters (Home to Wigan) or Dempsey (Away to Norwich) to fund. Its going to be a 4pt hit but worth it over the forseeable fixtures.

Well i personally think Adebayor will outscore Ba in the next GW and undoubtedly over the next 3 GWs. That Norwich defence is so leaky. That said Ba is on form and it's not exactly a pressing transfer, especially if Jones is confirmed out at tomorrow's press conference

Fulham fans would surely like to think so.

I gave up guessing & going on gut feeling last season. I play the odds now. Guided by amongst others - bookies, player form, this website (amongst others) & fixtures. Have preformed significantly better since then.

Rooney or Nani gets the armband this week.

Not that its that big a deal since the bonus are coming out tomorrow, but I guess we're not even getting a rank/mini league update tonight then?

Are they getting charged by the electron or something? Are they that stingy that they figure its a worthwhile saving not to crank the processors and servers for a couple of hours?

I bet those chumps at the new FPL provider are just out tonight, drinking champagne and high fiving each other, stuffing fifties down strippers cleavages and laughing about they can't believe they won one of the most lucrative online game contracts when they have neither the technical skill or hardware to do the job properly!!!!

@ SUPERDUNNY - Ya, thats what Im thinking. Id rather have take a hit and have ade in before any more price rise and I need the extra cash from the sale of Jones to do it. So while Im at it and again, before another Bale price rise, transfer him also for that extra 4pt hit on top of the other 4pt hit for ba -> ade

Anyone else suffering problems on MW3 (PS3)?

For the third night in a row, after playing on it for a while, my stats have reset to what they were at the beginning of the session when I start up the PS3 again. Like tonight, I'd made my way from level 58 to level 62. Then quit properly (no rage quitting or turning off the PS3 at the back), restarted the PS3, and when I came back I was back down to level 58.

Incredibly frustrating, sorely tempted to just pack the whole game in. Happening to others?

Not sure. I thought Kaboul would play tonight instead of him, but the fact that Gallas played may indicate that he is first choice ahead of Kaboul. Either way, I wouldn't be rushing into buying a Spurs defender just yet, with two away games coming up. Wait until the double and if Gallas is still playing every game, then get him.

i think so. he has 2 routes into the side. firstly the current one ahead of kaboul, and secondly if king gets injured/can't play twice in 3 days. the first route makes his clean sheet chances better, the second makes his starting prospects more concrete.
i checked the attacking stats of all the tottenham defenders and none of them are a goal threat lately so as the cheapest i see no harm in gallas. even have memories in the past of him scoring a few goals a season off various body parts

think he'd need over 20 PPi to beat benayoun, then probably over 25 to beat walcott. considering he has no blocks, only 2 tackles, no clean sheet and a shot off target i'd say it's an incredibly long shot

No way. the guy is averaging 6 points a gameweek and arguably Man City fixtures have been skewed harder so far as they play most of the harder teams at home from now on

6points a week = 228 points for the season = one of the highest FF scores ever.

As far as I'm concerned, Silva, Nani, Bale and RvP never leave my team unless they've been run over by a bus

think that's possibly oversimplified. over the season you switch between several high priced mids to try and catch their hot streaks, if you do that with any success then you can get much more than 228.

Great point AB. And you're dead right I suspect. I just did a quick check on my running score for my 2nd high-priced midfield spot (Silva has been the mainstay since GW 1). I've used Nani-Young-VDV-Nani with varying degrees of success, and have scored 116 points for that slot, whereas Silva has got me 103. And I'm a novice, so you more FPL-savvy guys might have even better results.

Small tempted to do Silva -> Bale, but probably won't, especially as I'd have to take a hit.

Who would you sooner ditch in GW20, Silva or Rooney? I'll be losing one of them to get some DGW action. Boils down to Silva & Studge or Rooney & Drenthe. Swaying towards the former, but the latter makes a move for Kun much easier later on.

Done. Took an 8 point hit to get Ade and Bale back. Ade will out perform Ba and run of games are better. Ba will have 2 tough ones after next GW.

Jones (OUT) — Jak — Enriq — Brown — (Rtaylor)

Nani — Silva — VDV (OUT)— Walters (Ferguson)

Stur — Ba (OUT) — VP

    .2m in the bank.
    1FT

    8pt hit.
    Jones -> J Evans
    Ba -> Ade
    VDV -> Bale

    re-posting this. current team is:

    vorm, krul
    jones, enrique, raylor, naylor, simpson
    silva, vdv, ramsey, eagles, gower
    rooney, ade, dzeko
    2FTs & 0.4m in the bank

considering for gw 18: Dzeko --> Morison; Jones --> Evans; Eagles --> Nani for a 4pt hit

this would mean that i'm stuck with vdv for GW 18 after which i can do:
vdv --> bale and maybe ramsey --> walters. would be another 4 pt hit if i did the ramsey transfer.

are these good moves or anything else i'm missing?

      65. Good week especially as I'd written it off as a transitional week setting up for DGW, but if Jones hadn't been KO'd out of a CS and Raylor hadn't been subbed on I'd be looking at 73 : S

Unless I hear he's definitely out for a while, he's staying put. I'm happy enougn to bench him this week. I've got adequate cover.

I am, just worried of just having 2 players available on my bench. Any player could get a rest you never know. I would have to take a hit to transfer him and it would not work if I don't get the -4 back.
