Van der Vaart Injury Fears Mount

Early reports are suggesting that Rafael Van der Vaart could be out until the New Year with further hamstring problems.

The Dutchaman was replaced at half-time in Thursday night’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea with the suggestion that Van der Vaart had aggravated his hamstring once again. This was later confirmed by Harry Redknapp in his post-match comments.

“He just seems to have a hamstring problem all the time. He is a great player but we need to keep him fit.”

The BBC article reports that, when quizzed whether Van der Vaart would be missing beyond the end of 2011, Redknapp replied…

“Yes, it looks that way.”

Presumably scans of the injury will follow, with a full prognosis hopefully on offer well before Tottenham’s visit to Norwich on December 27. Right now however, Van der Vaart’s involvement in that game, and even Tottenham’s double gameweek fixtures with West Brom and Everton on January 3 and 11, currently look in doubt.

Still claiming over 10% ownership in the Fantasy Premier League, Van der Vaart will surely suffer heavy sales in that game. His price dropped below his initial value to 9.9 only this gameweek; we can expect a further decline if a term of absence is confirmed.

            I don't think you get what I mean 😐
            If everyone scores 80ish, and you score 80ish with a 4 point hit, you lose ground.
            It's about that one individual player, not the overall score itself, you could score 120, but it could be more if there was no hit involved.

      If you're planning to overload for DGW then Larsson to Drenthe is the obvious choice. Form over fixtures for me.

      Only Bale & VDV are worth having (fantasy wise) from Spurs and seen as you already have Bale I'd save the transfer.

    A) Simply Ade-->Klasnic
    B) Ramsey-->Nani, Baines-->Agger, Klasnic-->Sturridge (8pts)
    C) Ramsey-->Nani, Baines-->Shotton, Klasnic-->Ade (8pts)

    I can also do a combination of B or C over two weeks meaning it would only cost 4pts total. But I would always have to wait a week for the Klasnic-->???.

    Any comments would be appreciated guys. I know 8pts are drastic but I think it vastly improves the team. Team link in username.

      Sometimes 8-16pt hits take a while to repay the investment, other times you get it back in one week. If your choices are sound, barring injury and kneejerks you don't risk losing imo.

    Have had my mind set on doing Mata to Nani this week but just had a look at Sinclairs home record. Has had 3 double digits scores this season all at home. So considering doing Dyer to Sinclair and keeping Mata. This leaves me with no ManU attacking coverage tho which is scary.
    So my options are:

    Dyer to Sinclair
    or
    Mata to Nani
    or
    Both for a hit.

      I think you should do both and take the hit. It's potentially a big week, plus you get cover in case someone gets rested. Seems alike a good gamble.
      Nice team value BTW - you will have a lot of options come the 2nd wildcard........

      Sinclair would find it tough against Spurs to get the same overhaul of points. The second one seems to be the better option.

      my opinion hasn't changed from last week. It is a really good team and all you need is luck.
      You should try upgrading ba to adebayor even if it means downgrading mata/silva. Else this week you just have to hold tight and wait for sir alex's conference regarding jones.

    There was one day, about week ago that I was happy with my team - now everything is just falling apart.

    My team

    Vorm, Hilario
    JONES, Enrigue, Evans, R.Taylor, WILKINSON
    Nani, Silva, Bale, VDV, Allen
    Rvp, Ade, Ba
    0,4 in the bank

    There is so many bad options out there, one transfer, 4 point hit, even 8 point hit.
    Vdv and Jones are obviously my priorities and if Jones is out next game I'll propably change him for smalling.
    Then there is that mr vdv, mata, valencia (then not BAE instead of smalling for jones) or drenthe in?
    I could take drenthe in and bench him this week and play allen - or is that just stupid way to waste a transfer for a player who could potentially get injured again..

    Well this post looks like a real jadajadajada again, if you have some ideas for transfers, be free to chare them with me!!

    ps. ba to sturridge is definetely happening this or next week

      Drenthe looks to be one of those players you play home or away imo. Easily the best potential Everton have atm. Vellios could be a good Diff but Moyes doesn't give him the time on the pitch, preferring the donkey Saha for some reason.

      You were really prepped up for the dgw kill with the super-trio from tottenham. Relax on jones till news is confirmed. Would have done vdv to drenthe but since you don't plan to play him you could just wait till after the weekend.

        yeah vdv could wait, but that would propably mean I lose 0,2 or even 0,3 on value and that's not good thing either.
