An early Christmas present for 32 fantasy managers is news of their opponent going into the sixth round of the Paddy Power Cup V. Before that, let’s see how the fifth round panned out…

The full set of results can be viewed right here, and for Mark they don’t make for good reading. As Premier League clubs do in real life, he lost to Mighty Manchester. It was a nail-biter however, with just a single point the difference.

Three ties were closer still and had to be decided on overall rank, which saw jinswick, Dyslexia United and Declan progress at the expense of Dr_Heckle, freeeasybets and fitzuation respectively.

Top-seed Der-Hammer95 powered through 78 – 66 against s4petah, improving his rank to 219th in the world.

Onto the round six fixtures then, which will be played out over the upcoming Gameweek 18 which starts on Boxing Day…

who do you guys think is a better player ...(not in terms of fantasy points) between Luis Suarez and Sergio Aguero? I think Suarez is better.

Tough to say. Aguero is more of a center forward while Suarez is like a false 10. He can drop back and link play as well as score, so maybe Suarez.

Interesting in a way. Do moral implications in any way impact on your fantasy decisions? I shied away from Cashley and Ade for a while but that's not a moral thing, just an Arsenal thing. Hopefully, I've grown up a bit now...

So, has everyone had a good laugh at their FPL cup opponent? The guy I've drawn qualified with:

    De Gea
    Terry, Cole, Jags, Brown, Cahill
    Jarvis, Barton
    Aguero, Suarez, Rooney (c)

    Given, Eagles, Henry, Brunt

Somehow, I think Vorm, Verm, Jones, Enrique, Silva, Nani, Mata, HBA, Ba, Ade and RVP (c) will get me through.

If Rooney tears it up and knocks me out I'll be fuming.

The midfield is terrible. While I'm confident of going through it could go horribly wrong if his strikers all score well, which could happen especially with the fixtures.

Started with him from gw 1, taken out and then bought back in gw 8.

I think anyones that followed premiership football wouldn't have been in doubt about his class in all fairness.. just a matter of team form being at an acceptable level for him to flourish.

that and his not being constantly injured helps..

I do wonder how long he'll continue the run for, assuming he stays fit. Surely he's only human and it'll peter out for a few gw's at some point?

I'm not sure he will. Most of his dry spells are either early in seasons or after (long) injury spells or bitty spells of recurring injury. His points per minute ratio's have always been great so maybe if (and it's a big if) he stays fit, he'll just keep scoring.

Also, Arsenal are so geared to play the ball to him now that he'll always get chances. Walcott for example, more often than not won't even shoot these days even if it's much easier than trying to pick him out

I've been on here ages so I don't have that excuse 🙂 Though in fairness, it's difficult to say that he is crap. He's been a proven fantasy target who I always thought would eventually start doing it again.

Hope not, I think I've learned since the Sturridge to Bendy debacle.

After listening to the podcast where Mark pointed out that City havent kept but one clean sheet away from home, would it be wiser to ditch Kompany > Skrtel/Huth considering that in the next 6, City have 4 away games and 2 difficult home fixtures.?

And I think suarez is better than aguero because the guy never stops running...constant hustle all game , can finish (yes he's hit the bar a lot this season but also doesn't have the great midfield aguero has behind him) and is much better passing and creating plays out of nothing...

Thats not fair judgement Im afraid. Aguero's a lovely finisher when compared to suarez, which is what a striker needs to be doing. Not hitting the post/cross bar all the time and wailing for penalties.

I'm tempted with a big defender though, the likes of Vermaelen, Terry, Johnson (instead of Enrique for differential). Getting Evans would allow me to get rid of Boyata though, who didn't start the last game. Just seems a boring move though... 😀

i am considering exactly the same transfer

all is adding up to doing it as huth even if no cs he still has more threat of a goal

man city away to wbrom with odemingie and s long and re-surgent sunderland may not keep cs which means you are relying somewhat on kompany goal and assist and sure he got a few attacking points recently but huth surely is more of a threat?

He hasn't made any transfers since the start and if you don't win you should be embarrassed 😛

That said, there's still the chance that some of his players (Baines, Odem, Suarez, Nasri) could rack up big scores and put you out. But you should be alright tbh..

I have Ba and am switching to Sturridge after this week, so I'm hoping Ba.

But it'll be close, i reckon they'll both get at least 1 goal, though I can't see Sturridge getting more than that, I think Jol will tighten Fulham up after their beating midweek.
