As the official Fantasy Premier League version begun this week with over two million hopefuls, our very own Paddy Power Cup V was down the last 32. With no virtual coin toss nonsense to worry about here, let’s see how it panned out…

Top-score this week went to Mr Bungle, who battered Chris H 67 – 35. That was the widest margin of victory for the round by quite some distance.

In doubling his opponent’s score was, Declan came closest to that 32-point gulf, as he bossed lowest-scoring jinswick 44 – 22.

For the first time this season there wasn’t a single draw, with runty‘s 50 – 49 triumph over GreenWindmill the tightest affair.

Der-Hammer95 continued his fine form to reach the last 16 as the highest ranked fantasy manager in the tournament. His 54 – 38 drubbing of Peadarb was enough for another green arrow and 181st in the world.

The fixtures for the seventh round – taking place in Gameweek 19 – will be announced in due course, along with important Quarter-Final news.

Congratulations to this week’s winners, and commiserations to those leaving the competition at this stage.

For the 1st time this season I'm going with a completely unchanged team, not even changing my sub order or anything. Unless someone can talk me out of it? (really want 2 frees going into DGW though)

    Vorm (Westy)
    Jones Shotton Enrique
    Silva Nani(c) Walters Bale
    RVP Ba Studge(vc)

    Subs: Drenthe Naylor Simpson

What y'all think? Good to go? Decent capt choices?

No unfortunately not. I'm 0.8 short, which will be made next week by downgrading Enrique or Jones to a Spud defender.

Think Ba could still score against Pool. Great player, shame he's off to ACON

lot of talk about it, havent really been watching the 90mins though. not sure he is actually dropping so much deeper apart from when he was played in midfield. he's still on pens. i think he will play 90 mins in the next game. hernandz is a good option and a starter from now on, if you need the money

Don´t do that sh*t, people are idiots. Nothing's changed with the midfield, only the back four. Nothing he can do with that. If anything the midfield has become defensively strong with the insertion of the Matrix (Park)...he will Alex Song whoever SAF asks...wherever. If anything you'll see Berbs drop back there to get game time. You'll be wasting a transfer on Hernandez, I'm sure he'll be dropped for Berbs...if not for Welbeck. He's fresh off an injury so he won't be pushed hard.

    2 Questions

    1) I have Bale and Ade already. Who would you rather have as the third Spur for the DGW, BAE or VDV? Reason I ask is I may be bringing BAE in this week due to defensive injuries which will rule out the idea of Silva > VDV next week. I could always bring in someone like Hibbert or Shotton instead.

    2) What week are we eyeing up using our Jan WC for? I'm thinking right before GW23? Seems like a good time to me but there are so many variables to try and take into account.

Re: 1) I like the idea of a third Spurs player, but Bale and Adebayor are plenty Spurs attack for the DGW. BAE (or Gallas perhaps).

Re: 2) GW21 right after the DGW so I can get rid of Baines, Gallas, Drenthe and Adebayor (keeping Bale, though).

Spurs have Wolves after the DGW so it wont be a problem having 3 Spuds in your team at all. Wouldnt like to stock up on too many Everton though. Already had Drenthe for a while so I guess I'll be sticking with him for the time being as my only Everton player for the DGW

OK I have figured out a way to get Bale in that DOESNT involve getting rid of Silva, but it does involve Jones.

So how does this look? (4 point hit)

    Jones & Walters > Shotton & Bale

    leaves me with
    Vorm (Ruddy)
Enrique, Simpson, Assou Ekotto (Shotton, Gabbidon)
    Silva, Nani, Mata, Bale (Ferguson)
    RVP, BA, ADE

plan to awap BA > Sturridge after next GW.

Look ok? os is SIlva > Bale only a better option, and suffer the loss of money on Silva?

I would just do Silva to Bale personally. Jones and Walters are great players to have.

Silva to Bale, even with a loss of funds, seems better than getting stuck with two 4.0 DEF and Ferguson. Not a lot of flexibility there.

Agree! Also Bale's value will rise. So value lost on Silva could be value gain on Bale

I'm looking at losing Jones as I dont want to part with Silva. I'm 0.1 short of Enrique>Gallas and Ba>Ade or I'd do that for sure.

The thing is with Jones is that at least he's the same price as I bought him for so wouldnt be too difficult to get back in my team but I'd be searching for an extra 0.5 to get Silva back

Do you not have Rooney, Nani, Mata or RVP?!

Would appreciate any advice on this:

    Team for GW19 ATM:

    Krul (Vorm)
    Kompany/Jones/Enrique/Shotton (N. Taylor)
    Silva/Bale/Walters (Eagles, Ferguson)
    Adebayor/RVP/Rooney

Two free transfers, so will do at least one.

    What about this?

    Before GW19:
    Ferguson -> Moses

    Before GW20 (double GW):
    Rooney -> Sturridge
    Eagles -> VDV

    Right now armband on Rooney.

    2 major doubts though:-

    - Chances of Rooney playing in mf, especially if the defense is somehow weakened again and Carrick plays CB(and chances of Berba/Chicha/Welbeck frwrd)
    - Big haul from RVP, considering hed be gunning for the record(Have RVP too).

    Thoughts?

definitely he'll want that but if Wenger says i'm resting you, you can try against fulham/swansea. I don't think he can argue much.

Im doing Rooney just cos hes nailed on to play.
Jones n Smalling will prob be back.

RVP needs a hat trick for the record - think he needed one goal v Wolves to get it.

Yup, chances of RVP rest are also there, but if he starts he could be selfish, and devastating in fantasy terms.

Im sure Rooney will start. But if either of Smalling/Jones does not start, were looking at a very high chance of Carrick at CB, and hence Rooney in MF(Im sure Giggs wont play 2 on the trot as well).

Usually Rooney at home against B'Burn would be a no-brainer for the armband but I'd think twice this GW. He could possibly be in MF for this game. As a Man Utd fan I bloody hope he's not but there is a 50/50 chance IMO.

Have you got Nani? Seems the better bet this GW until Utds injuries have cleared up and Roons settled back in an advanced role.

I drafted in Sturridge day before, and I realized Im a little worried captaining the little fella, cause he just never gets a double figure scores.

RVP. Bale. Nani. Sturridge. Adebayor. Silva.

Who would you captain for the next gameweek?

nani is always a risk though, he can be the most frustrating player ever on his day - it just depends which nani decides to turn up this week. he's either absolutely electrifying or just not interested. i find it too risky, though i'd be happy to gamble him this week against blackburn.

Chelsea are one of those teams where you can see the goals being spread throughout the team if they score a few. I can easily see them winning 4 nil with Sturridge being involved with none of them.
