It feels wrong and yet it’s so right. Another gameweek deadline under lights, so soon after the Boxing Day festivities. Then again, given the largely pathetic returns on offer in gameweek 18, we can’t wait to move on and scratch it from memory – lets bundle into the Matchday Surgery chatroom like desperate housewives hitting the sales…

There’s much to discuss. Having covered off the team news, our Scout Picks were unleashed with Robin Van Persie present and correct. The Dutchman goes into the gameweek with our endorsement then. He tops the Captain Poll, despite real concerns that his pitch time will be cut by a concerned Arsene Wenger, looking to wrap Van Persie’s formerly fragile limbs in cotton wool. We’re confident he’ll get some minutes however, and with the chance to wipe the smile from Alan Shearer’s face, surely QPR will let Van Persie walk a few in? You never really know with Neil Warnock.

Tonight’s Fantasy Premier League deadline is just over an hour away and, following that, Liverpool and Newcastle get the gameweek under way under the Anfield lights. At last the Christmas telly improves.

We’ll be back with the Dugout Discussion and team news prior to the kick-off.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I've been on RVP all week, but QPR are rubbish and I think wenger might risk it without him. Either way if nani plays against blackburn he should do damage that's why I'm putting it on him for first time this season.

Dempsey, Shawcross and Shotton in for Drenthe, Baines and Evans? 4 point hit

Hear me out.. I could buy 1 of the 2 back if the DGW was really enticing but what's really bothering me is that WBA (A) could be tough for Everton, Evans will not play while I could instead cash in on a seemingly easy double Stoke CS and Dempsey really does produce, and he's playing Norwich (A) this week!

Strange that Berbatov captain isn't being discussed. Could not an easy home game see Berbatov play again especially with such good form, seeing a repeat of Rooney with less minutes and/or in a midfield position behind berb and hernandez?

This article in the guardian was before the Boxing Day game. Arsenal really need to pick up the win.

Maybe Wenger will start him and try and get the job done.

Tempted to sell RVP though. Fulham away tricky and could do with Bale in team. If the FPL stats are accurate he's owned by a third or managers.

Might I just remind anyone still doubting that the last time rvp came on for 25 mins he scored 2 goals. Don't need long the lad.

I personally think he will get either 20 mins at the end of the qpr game or 70 at the start. Compromise for Wenger.
