While Chelseaโ€™s run of upcoming fixtures has many a Fantasy manager eyeing up the likes of Daniel Sturridge and Juan Mata, weโ€™re going to throw another hat in the ring this morning – John Terry.

Thereโ€™s no doubt Terry is a costly option at the back. Coming in at 7.5, heโ€™s the third priciest defender in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) but heโ€™s justified that so far, producing 80 points, joint-top scoring defender with Man Cityโ€™s Vincent Kompany; all this despite chalking up just four clean sheets this season.

With four goals to his name after 18 appearances, Terry has already equalled his top-scoring campaign for the Blues and has found the net as many times as Didier Drogba and Fernando Torres combined. His game seems to be perfectly suited to this seasonโ€™s bonus points system, too; he ranks at the top for defenders with 14 and has picked up the maximum bonus in three matches. The Chelsea captain has also proved capable of returning substantial points hauls, picking up double-figures on three separate occasions, a feat bettered only by Frank Lampard for Andre Villas-Boasโ€™ side.

The Blues skipper has been top of the Watchlist rankings for Defenders over the past two weeks now and further analysis of his stats- particularly in comparison to Sturridge – makes for interesting reading. While many may baulk at the idea, itโ€™s worth noting that Sturridge is priced at 7.4 and has returned 82 points (also including 14 bonus), with both players’ tallies almost identical. With cut-price forwards such as Steve Morison and Heidar Helguson proving strong value options up top, thereโ€™s room for manoeuvre if Fantasy managers wanted an alternative to the likes of Leighton Baines or Thomas Vermaelen at the back.

Along with Ashley Cole, Terry is the only player to have seen every minute of his sideโ€™s campaign thus far – thereโ€™ll be no substitutions or rotation when it comes to his game time, a key factor worth considering as the fixture list continues at a hectic pace.

With a run of five games that reads (AVL, wol, SUN, nor, swa) the potential for plundering the points is clearly there and if Terry can continue on the goal trail and grab a clean sheet or two along the way, he could well prove a handy acquisition over the next few gameweeks.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

      You sure about Captain/Vice
Both COULD be rested (unlikely but very possible) leaving you with nobody.
That's the only reason I did Nani (c) with Bale (vc) instead of RVP.

The trouble with RVP is that whenever Wenger has rested him this season Arsenal have struggled, and so he's been brought on late in the game to find a goal. So if he's your captain and doesn't score the late winner (ok, he usually does but still.. ) - then you only get the 2pts and you also miss out on using the VC instead.

Big Oak and JOA, you have a point.

I had initially set up for Nani (Sturridge) after thorough consideration.

But then the knee jerked. But it is put back in its proper place again now.

      Thanks again.

This is the team I plan to put out:
    .
    Krul
Simpson - Enrique - Huth (flagged)
    Nani - Bale - Vdv - Gomez
    Rvp - Ade - Morison
    .
Subs: Vorm - Naylor - Bardsley - Whelan

Begovic to Lindegaard and Smalling to Walker worth a 4 point hit? Ive not got 3 starting defenders (Wilkinson and Barnett are the other 2). Aware that Lindergaard might not start but happy to play him every week with Vorm. Alternatively could just do Smalling to Kaboul? So..

Team for the week, any changes required?

    Sorensen
    Richards, BAE, Verm
    Nani (vc), Silva, Bale, Drenthe
    RVP (c), Adebayor, Ba

    Subs: Enrique, Gower, Naylor

RVP captaincy is niggling at me, but I'm figuring he didn't score last week, Wenger will give him his final shot to break the record. Would switch to Nani but rotation is equally big an issue with him also.

I don't ever take that into account.
NEW for a Liverpool defender has to be a better fixture than swa or sun. Your ownership of Ba won't affect Enriques point returns.

Just the captaincy dilemma but as has been mentioned on here there's risk around both those two being rested so maybe VC someone who'll definitely play the 90. Team looks set otherwise and if Richards doesnt play then Enriques not a bad first sub.

could take out silva hes done noting for few weeks and not great fixtures if you take him out it would give you bale and maybe fredeil you can get silva back when wild card comes in spurs have great fixtures up till then

If I were you I'd do Rooney to Adebayor and Woodgate to BAE for GWK 20. You're fine for this gameweek.

I'd keep Rodwell and hope he starts. Everton really need him.

      is rodwell not red flagged?
how did you get to this point with no spurs players?
option i would go for is bale and ade in minimum, so silva & rooney out this week or next.
you could even add VDV or modric with spare cash, more chance of making hit points back.

silva to bale seems to be a popular choice and not a bad captain option for the double gameweek, moyes has asked rodwell to play further and chip in with the goals, but that might change with drenthe and donvanan in the same team

Anyone know the situation with Wilkinson?

Want to sell him or Boyata, preferably Boyata given Bolton's allergy to clean sheets, but if Wilko is definitely not going to start then I should sell him.

Start Krul or Vorm? Krul away against goal-shy Liverpool, whereas Vorm at home against in-form Tottenham, but Swansea have only conceded 3 goals at home all season.
