We see out 2011 with a programme of seven Premier League fixtures, after Gameweek 19 got under way last night with a 3-1 win for Liverpool over Newcastle. The Dugout Discussion opens for the final time this year, and the incoming team news from Old Trafford suggests that a certain Scot has begun his birthday celebrations a tad early…

Man Utd XI: De Gea, Rafael, Jones, Carrick, Evra, Nani, Valencia, Park, Welbeck, Hernandez, Berbatov.

Blackburn XI: Bunn, Lowe, Samba, Hanley, Pedersen, Henley, Nzonzi, Petrovic, Rochina, Formica, Yakubu.

Sir Alex Ferguson, who turns 70 today, names a peculiar looking side for the second game running. Given United’s 5-0 drubbing of Wigan last time out, who are we to question his selection? However, eyebrows will be raised at the exclusion of Wayne Rooney from the matchday squad, after only featuring for half an hour on Boxing Day.

Phil Jones returns from illness to partner Michael Carrick in defence rather than midfield. Nani and Antonio Valencia play in midfield behind a trio or strikers, leaving Ji Sung Park to man the middle of the park.

As for Steve Kean’s side, injuries to both Junior Hoilett and David Dunn (surprise, surprise), mean Radosav Petrovic and Ruben Rochina start. After his heroics at Anfield, Mark Bunn continues in goal.

After that we’ve five 3pm fixtures, and no evening game allows us to be unfashionably on time for our New Year’s shindigs. This is my last post of 2011, so I wish you all a Happy New Year! See you in 2012!

God lets hope 2012 brings us less Fantasy Footy shocks than this year no major rotation no major knee-jerk fails,no injuries and some bandwagons that actually pay off.

    Please Sir Alex,Mancini,AVB,Redknapp and Arsene.
Spair a thought to all Fantasy Footy managers while selecting your teamsheet.

And on a more important note have a good new year to one and all.

Posted this earlier but lost what page it was on.

Is there any chance Evans or Baines will change in price tonight? I need to know because i have the exact
amount to make the transfer. Not sure if i should do it now or wait until tommorrow matches are over.

Do the transfer now or wait till tommorrow?

I like the squad, but I wouldn't say it's "looking good" for next gameweek... to me it needs a Spurs defender (could easily get 2 x 6pts), don't fancy cleanies for Kompany, Jones or Enrique, and VDV could cause big problems.

    Is adebayor essential for dgw??

    Ive currentley got:
    A) RVP: Cant take hime out.
    B) Sturridge: Great fixtures - bad form.
    C) Fletcher: Bad fixtures - can score against anyone.

I can afford adebayor for any of these.
    Thanks!!

Off out in 20 mins for anothing guaranteed disappointing new year party. Anyone else think NYE parties just generally suck once you hit late 20s? I'd much rather just get a curry and night in watching a movie with the wife... but expectations don't let you do that.

I find every year I just haven't got the energy after doing loads over Chrimbo, so you end up going to these NYE parties already knackered, you have to stay up til midnight, talking to people you either don't really know or don't really like. I'm even going to miss Winter Wipeout in 5 mins ffs.

I feel BAE will get 2 points. RVP may be three being the lone scorer and Moses should not get more than 1 as Jerome are Walters got an assist and a goal each.
So you must need a better score from Jag. A clean sheet from Everton may be.
