We see out 2011 with a programme of seven Premier League fixtures, after Gameweek 19 got under way last night with a 3-1 win for Liverpool over Newcastle. The Dugout Discussion opens for the final time this year, and the incoming team news from Old Trafford suggests that a certain Scot has begun his birthday celebrations a tad early…

Man Utd XI: De Gea, Rafael, Jones, Carrick, Evra, Nani, Valencia, Park, Welbeck, Hernandez, Berbatov.

Blackburn XI: Bunn, Lowe, Samba, Hanley, Pedersen, Henley, Nzonzi, Petrovic, Rochina, Formica, Yakubu.

Sir Alex Ferguson, who turns 70 today, names a peculiar looking side for the second game running. Given United’s 5-0 drubbing of Wigan last time out, who are we to question his selection? However, eyebrows will be raised at the exclusion of Wayne Rooney from the matchday squad, after only featuring for half an hour on Boxing Day.

Phil Jones returns from illness to partner Michael Carrick in defence rather than midfield. Nani and Antonio Valencia play in midfield behind a trio or strikers, leaving Ji Sung Park to man the middle of the park.

As for Steve Kean’s side, injuries to both Junior Hoilett and David Dunn (surprise, surprise), mean Radosav Petrovic and Ruben Rochina start. After his heroics at Anfield, Mark Bunn continues in goal.

After that we’ve five 3pm fixtures, and no evening game allows us to be unfashionably on time for our New Year’s shindigs. This is my last post of 2011, so I wish you all a Happy New Year! See you in 2012!

34 with Baines and Silva to play. Looked dismal, until I looked at the scores of some of my fellow league colleagues! Lots of sub 20 scores out there by the looks...

I was thinking the same but I have 44 all out. I imagine I'll finish on 50-51 with RVP(C), Walters BPs to go

This week seems to have come down to a) RVP captain or not and b) Walters. If you had both, you're 30pts+, if you had one your 20pts+, if you had neither you're sub-20pts. I'm 25pts with RVP(c), Drenthe and Silva to go.

Should end up 40+ with RVP captain and Walters, if RVP gets the 3 bonus points. I have 39 with just Silva to go, and I wouldn't mind him being rested because I would have Moses coming off the bench...

Got Sturridge in this week. While his 2 pointer was no worse than Ba the injury to Vermaelen has made it a terrible transfer. Had I not done it I'd be able to do Verm to Baines for free. Instead it looks like I'm doing Verm to Jags for a 4 point hit.

    lost on last page unfortunately.

Anyone think sturridge is now out of favour with avb?

being taken off in successive games after 60 odd mins. Torres came on and played very well.

Sturridge or ba out for adebayor?

Think United could do worse than signing Riccardo Montolivo this January. He's not ideal, but he's cheap, he's consistent and he scores goals. Would also prevent us from having to pair a right back and a left winger in the middle of the park again. Need another man in the squad, and if we're not gonna spend big, he's the man.

So Verm out for 2-3 weeks.

I have 1 FT and already have Ade/Bale/BAE plus Baines/Howard/Drenthe for the double GW.

I am wildcarding straight after the double GW soooooooo

Should I use the FT on Verm to ?? possibly Villa def or Samba

    or

Play Gabbidon and use the FT for Sturridge to Agbonlahor or QPR striker

    Any thoughts?
