Welcome to a brand new year at Fantasy Football Scout. Hope you all have a happy one.

Now you’ve disposed of your empty cans and pizzas boxes into a black bag, you can settle into your lazyboy and spend the afternoon shouting at your TV screen. We have two games: West Brom entertain Everton and Sunderland welcome Man City to the Stadium of Light.

The teams are in for the opening game, with the main talking point, the omission of Royston Drenthe. It seems there’s not even a place for him on the bench, with Jack Rodwell returning to the Everton lineup.

WBA: Foster; Jones, McAuley, Dawson, Shorey; Thomas, Scharner, Morrison, Brunt; Long, Odemwingie.

Everton: Howard, Hibbert, Distin, Jagielka, Baines, Heitinga, Neville, Rodwell, Osman, Cahill, Saha.

    Nice 5 pts for Baines but frustrating its not 6. Silva not playing gives me a massive 1pt off the bench from Simpson, giving me 40 plus bps for the week. Will take that, could have been a lot worse.

    Money no object........Play it safe and get Bale for DGW (nearly all of mini-league has Bale that I'm chasing) or gamble and go with VDV? Tempted to go for VDV but nervous about his inability to complete 90 mins??

    When I came on here last night praying for one of Aguero, Silva or Drenthe not to play so Sinclair would come off my bench, I didn't mean all of them not play! GW goes from bad to worse...

    Nail biter coming up with my cup rival! I'm 2 points ahead, he has Hart and Aguero (c) with 2 points coming off bench if Aguero doesn't appear at some stage and Nani (vc). I have Silva or 3rd sub Naylor coming off bench for 2 points. Praying for City to concede, Ageuro not to come on and score/assist and Hart to get sent off maybe 🙂 Don't want it to go to BAPs as he has Walters and I have no-one bar maybe a RVP bonus point. Love the cup!!

      Hoping for a 10 minute cameo from Aguero (2pts) + City to concede.

    No Drenthe is annoying, Everton DGW is overrated imo, very poor, lack of goals and possible CS.

    McAuley losing those 4pts may have cost me my FPL cup and now have Brown coming off the bench for Rooney and L. Young for Silva potentially. At least Aguero isn't playing for him.

    Howard outscores Vorm! Very happy about that.
