Welcome to a brand new year at Fantasy Football Scout. Hope you all have a happy one.

Now you’ve disposed of your empty cans and pizzas boxes into a black bag, you can settle into your lazyboy and spend the afternoon shouting at your TV screen. We have two games: West Brom entertain Everton and Sunderland welcome Man City to the Stadium of Light.

The teams are in for the opening game, with the main talking point, the omission of Royston Drenthe. It seems there’s not even a place for him on the bench, with Jack Rodwell returning to the Everton lineup.

WBA: Foster; Jones, McAuley, Dawson, Shorey; Thomas, Scharner, Morrison, Brunt; Long, Odemwingie.

Everton: Howard, Hibbert, Distin, Jagielka, Baines, Heitinga, Neville, Rodwell, Osman, Cahill, Saha.

    Is Drenthe injured again or is Moyes just being a conservative old bugger? Much more annoyed that Gomez was off the pitch for that penalty yesterday. Infinitely more annoyed.

      Unlucky on the Gomez one. Typically frustrating of FPL.

      It's either Moses or nothing from Wigan, I think. Aside from the Utd game, they're looking much improved, though.

          Me - Martinez. Even though i'd like a bit of creative flair to take all the responsibility off Rooney, we need to replace Fletcher and have yet to replace the hargreaves of 2008. Martinez scores 5-10 goals a season, and can play at CB too. Ideal, surely.

    Seen a few people wondering whether to get BAE or Walker in for this dgw. My two cents is that Walker is faster, stronger, a better defender and whips in a lot of crosses, but I think Assou-Ekoto has better skill on the ball, agility and is more likely to get in dangerous areas, so is more of an attacking threat. Opinions?
