The first Scoutcast of 2012 is here. There’s no dressing this up, the Episode title tells you exactly what to expect. With consecutive gameweek scores hovering around the two millionth rank mark and “ghost ship” squads passing me by, who can really blame me?

A string of unfortunate transfers and an errant injury to an Arsenal centre-back threatens to bring my season falling around my ears. Mark spends much of the podcast attempting to reassure me – convinced I’m at the point of no return, whilst simultaneously adding a few sly digs on the 71 points that’s opened up between us. I wouldn’t have expected anything less.

The season and the show must go on. In between gripes, we eventually throw in the usual array of regulars and, by the end, there’s even a sense of hope. Happy New Year? It couldn’t get any worse.

Feel my pain here.

    Nani is on -96% and needs just 999 transfers to fall when the price changes happen in 40 minutes. I want to buy Nani in. I know what! FFS has thousands of members, why don't all you people reading this who have grown sick and tired of Nani's 2s and 3s sell before the deadline! You avoid a 0.1 loss and I avoid a 0.1 loss! It's win-win right? Looking forward to his price drop, thanks in advance 😀 I'm sure you will all go and do just that! 😀

      Get rid of Jags and bring in Senderos, Shotton, or someone in that price range that has similar CS potential. Then bring in Dempsey for Osman. Do it over a couple of weeks, cos I probably wouldn't take a 4 pt hit or use my WC just for that.

    Lindegaard - Sorenson

    Smalling - Clichy - Santon

    Valencia - Dempsey - Gerrard - Silva - Bale

    Van Persie - Sturridge

    1 Best
    2 Senderos

      Ahh, a subject so close to my heart...

      A few years ago when I was at uni doing my exams it worked wonders for me... "Cramming" is the best way to get information into your head short term...

      If you sleep you will lose a great deal of the retained information... Just have a shower every time you feel tired... Red Bull/Relentless helps...

      NB. This is only a short term fix... If you actually want to remember any of the stuff you're learning, I recommend reading through it again, because after the exam you'll be a zombie and you will sleep for 12+ hrs... when you wake up you will forget most of it...

      Good luck... 🙂

    Finding it really hard to pick a team this week. I can't make up my mind about my bench or captain. All my defenders are at home and Sess could do damage at The Bridge.

    Currently:

    Jones Evans (BOL) BAE (WOL) Simpson (QPR)
    Nani (BOL) Bale (WOL) Silva (wig)
    RVP (swa) Ade (WOL) Sturridge (SUN)

          The way I see it is if he doesn't play I've got RVP as vice captain (may change to bale), and a decent bench.He's not that expensive considering what he's capable of, and I can shift him in a couple of weeks if he doesn't get his game. If he does play, he'll score a ton the form he's in. The risk for me is if Fergie puts him on after 80 minutes if they're playing crap. I'm not all that confident in the other captain options, no-one is cleaning up enough to be a must have captain like RVP was a few months ago. So I could end up getting 2 points from him worst case, and having one out of the few people behind me in my mini league get a good captain score. Or I could get a massive shedload and pre-empt a Berbatov bandwagon (which is inevitable if he plays another couple of games) like what happened last year, and get up into the top few hundred. My cup opponent this week is a dead team too, so no risk there. So there's the logic behind my punt. Fingers crossed.

    G'Morning lads! Here's how I'm lining up for gw21.

    Given
    Enrique Walker Evans Simpson
    Nani Bale Mata
    RVP Studge Ade
    Subs – Vorm Osman Moses Shotton
    1 FT 0.6 Bank WC available

    Currently plan to use my WC in gw24.

    Should I make a transfer on Osman? Ideally, I’d like to save up my FT for next GW to remove Ade/Walker in gw22, but it could go to waste if I suddenly decide to WC in gw22 due to injuries, players losing place, etc.

      Looks set to me 😀 Id hold that transfer if you're sure you wont wc next week.

        Cheers ILA. I'd remove Osman, but there aren't any < 7 mil options that interest me this GW, unless it's a punt on Maxi/AJ.

          Maxi/AJ is interesting actually, maybe you should punt them ahead of Simpson 🙂

          When did you sell Silva? Have any plans to get him back for gw24 onwards?

            Yeah I'd do it but they're not nailed-on to start any game. 😕

            Sold him in gw18 - had to decide b/w dropping mata or silva. Went Silva, as I knew he'd be rested for 1/2 games easily. Defo will be back come gw24, infact I might get him vs TOT if he's fit in gw22.

      Without knowing the rest of your team, Id play Richards ahead of Simpson for attacking potential and imo QPR is decent going forward anyway.

        Defense too expensive if you ask me. You should play Totts, City and Liverpool defense if you're not planning to change. Is a solid backline who all have good fixtures. 🙂

    WC transfers:

    Al Habsi ---> Lindegaard
    Shawcross ---> Senderos
    Barnett ---> Shotton/Caulker
    Drenther ---> Sessengon

    Yay or nay?

      Shotton, not Caulker

      Not sure about Lindegaard, he only gets a game or two before De Gea's back in

      Caulker is better than Shotton, better defensively and since the swans don't score much, defenders have a good chance of bonus. Shotton is overrated or over-hyped, most of his throws are flicked on anyway

    Vorm
    Evans Richards Jones
    VDV Bale Nani ______
    Best RVP Sturridge

    Bench : Ruddy - Moses - Huth - De Laet
    Osman is currently the Blank , should i take him out for a hit or play one of the subs?
    If i do sell who should i get, would have 9.5 to spend.
    Cheers

        if you're WC-ing next game, i'd fancy a punt on nasri if silva isn't fit 😉

      Depends, Id pick a City mid but if you're looking for a mid-long term replacement then Id go with Dempsey.

      lol,,,funny you all said Demps, when i got rid of Ba during the week i left funds so i could get Demps but i now have a feeling Samba will control him. Nasri was the 2nd guy i had in mind as a differential but spurs in gw 22 he wont play in. Im WC in 23 so Nasri prob not a good move.
      So basically not Demps or Nasri even though i agree with you all! 🙂

    Just realized I'm going to be knocked out of the cup this week. I'm playing a guy ranked 2,450,000 in the world, he hasn't made a transfer yet, has half the number of total points as me and will be lucky if he has 9 players active this gameweek. GUARANTEED LOSS FOR ME..............

        Bale just played full 90 mins yesterday, so I don't expect him to be on full-power against Wolves. Don't get me wrong though, he is one of my (C) options too, just that I can't justify one yet. 😉
