The first Scoutcast of 2012 is here. There’s no dressing this up, the Episode title tells you exactly what to expect. With consecutive gameweek scores hovering around the two millionth rank mark and “ghost ship” squads passing me by, who can really blame me?

A string of unfortunate transfers and an errant injury to an Arsenal centre-back threatens to bring my season falling around my ears. Mark spends much of the podcast attempting to reassure me – convinced I’m at the point of no return, whilst simultaneously adding a few sly digs on the 71 points that’s opened up between us. I wouldn’t have expected anything less.

The season and the show must go on. In between gripes, we eventually throw in the usual array of regulars and, by the end, there’s even a sense of hope. Happy New Year? It couldn’t get any worse.

Feel my pain here.

piggybacking on the price rise discussion-

if say yakubu cant rise anymore this gw, but is still getting transferred in massively, do those transfers in "rollover" to the next gw?

Like say he's at 217% to rise going into saturday night after scoring a brace, does he rise that night, then be at 117% the next night (plus that days transfers in), rise that night, then be at whatever remainder the following day.

i found wording this difficult, i hope someone doesnt have as much trouble deciphering it.

Depends on which rise it is.. first rise, 2nd rise or 3 rd rise...

      So now BAck to YAkubu...

He is on around 153,000 NET transfers IN for this Gameweek and has there risen by 0.3..

Now for him to rise by 0.1 extra i.e 0.4 for the week.. he will need approx 100k transfers in more..

Bringing his total to 250k transfers in approx..

Now if he doesnt get that extra 100k by saturday and say he only has 60k more..

So on sunday the 60k will roll over... and since only 25k is required for the 1st rise, he will immediately rise on sunday by 0.1 and those 60k will be reset to 0 after the price rise.

Now for 2nd prise rise in that GW he will need another 50k from the reset zero.

Ill post again what i posted on previous page...

        From page 15..

If a player increases in value because they hit their NTI target, then in order for them to increase again in the same GameWeek (GW) the NTI target gets doubled. If they happen to hit that NTI target, in order for them to get a third increase, their NTI target gets trebled.

        Eg. For the rise of

        0.1 – 25,000 Minimum Transfers Approx.
        0.2 – Original 25k + 25k x 2 = 75,000 Min total transfers approx.
        0.3 – Previous 75k + 25k x 3 = 150k min total approx.
        0.4 – Previous 150k + 25k x 4 = 250,000 minimum total transfers approx.

        Plus..

Q: So if a player’s NTI target is 25,000 and they have an NTI of 30,500 when the price increase occurs, do 5500 NTI roll over for their next target?
A: Unfortunately not, no. When a player hits their target and the price increase happens, their NTI total get reset back to zero. This includes all additional NTIs above the target. They just get lost into the ether.

Whenever a rise occurs the transfers are reset to 0. So unfortunately the moment he rises he's back to square one.

You are right that the transfers rollover into the next GW - so he should rise on Saturday night.

Hi - wondering if you could answer a quick question. Should I wildcard or not. Read you guys on here and I am worried. I dont seem to have those that everyone are wildcarding for. Dempsey, Sessegnon, Valencia, Caulker, Shotton, Ben Arfa etc.

    Team is

    Krul/Robinson
    Hangeland, Simpson, Jones, Evans, Walker
    Walcott, Ramsey, Mclean, Bale, Ramsey
    Sturridge, Adebayor, Rooney

Any responses would be much appricated. Cant have another sleepless night tonmight

I know Adebayor played badly recent weeks, but if you bought him at 8M, then his score not bad for 8M striker?

and although doing nothing lately but actually Adebayor still scored more points than Aguero and Rooney since he joined EPL. Spurs have hard fixtures but if you sell him, you cannt buy him back. Adebyor scored agains big opponent like Chelsea and Liverpool too.

still think RVP Aguero Adebayor is best up front

...you again....most of us did not buy him at 8m for starters....yes he has a good score for a 8mill striker, BUT he is out of form, will mist next week vs City, Spurs have Liv/ManU and arsenal coming up in the next couple of weeks.

Many are keeping him for the Wolves and Wigan games. This 'could' backfire with possible rotation etc.

No one is a season keeper. Just look at Suarez. It's all about catching the players in their 'patches" they do well.

Rukawa 😉 nice to see that again. Ade is just very unpredictable with scoring, can't be captained, and goes long periods without a goal. That kind of player is bad to own because at some stage you have to stop losing points and sell him because you don't know when he'll become good again. You don't have hindsight. You often can't afford to wait. It's similar in a way to Yakubu, you never know when he'll score, except it's okay for Yakubu because he still scores huge numbers of goals and is much cheaper.

I am also going to let go of Silva (had him from GW1) and have come up with Bale, Sess, Dempsey, Valancia and then either Cabaye/Ben Afra/Petrov... I would go Valancia for this GW.
If I had to choose for #2 I would choose Sess....

also, aguero over rooney if u get valencia in

God damn, I don't know whether I should leave enough money in to get him in next week...with him saying,

"I think that I will be able to play, although the decision rests with the coach. But it's not going to be an easy night."

Seems more like a 75% chance of playing than not...

I don't think it's crazy to play the WC this week, as much as people say the fixture swing next week is best, I don't see how this week is that much different. Maybe because Tottenham vs Wolves and United vs Bolton, people would think you would get rid after GW21, but I don't fancy anymore than Bale for Spurs now or Rooney and Valencia/Nani from here on!

Think either Drenthe or McAuley are due for the chop:
    this week should i do:
    Drenthe -> Cabaye
    or
    Drenthe -> Ben Arfa
    or
    McAuley -> Santon

McAuley to Santon. Mostly because it's unclear whether Ben Arfa will start and if he does you'd want him over Cabaye.

my two potential wildcard teams, dependant upon how attacking/defensive city look on monday:

    a)
    hart, lindegaard
    richards, kompany, vermaelen, santon, senderos
dempsey, walters, sessegnon, ben arfa, mclean
    sturridge, rvp, torres

    b)
    hart, lindegaard
    senderos, kelly, vermaelen, santon, simpson
silva, dempsey, sessegnon, ben arfa, mclean
    sturridge, rvp, aguero

so basically it somes down to

    a) kompany, richards, walters, torres
    b) simpson, kelly, silva, aguero

    i actually prefer A

Hmm fair enough but Che - Sun has always been a high scoring fixture. Chelsea alone have scored 16 goals in this fixture at the Bridge over 4 seasons. If I had a vacant striker spot, I'd most certainly bring in Torres! 😀

The best I can do - going for Mata (C).

im guna wildcard tomorrow n will decide after watching them monday what my plan will be

ben arfa is to rotate so its a cost thing but tbh if hes gauranteed to start id go with him over cabaye

FFS Flavors of the Month: REVIEW Part 4 (and final conclusion)

    GW14: Adebayor, Bale, Baines
    GW15: Jones, Nani, Ba
    GW16: Nani, Mata
    GW17: Evans, Drenthe

    Points total since then

    GW17 – GW20

    Evans: 6, 0, 0, 0/ Total: 6 Unlucky (injured)
    Drenthe: 2, 0, 0, 1/ Total: 3 Terrible

The Vidic injury and the fact that Jones was now also injured saw many fantasy managers look to Evans as a replacement. His cut price value, form and history indicated that he was a safe bet and nailed on for the rest of the season. The bargain price of 4.5m enticed many. It was extremely unlucky when he got injured though and since some have held onto him in the hope of his return. Drenthe was an awful transfer one that sucked me in for a second time (should have learned my lesson). We all know the result of course and he proved to be a massive fail in the DGW.

Overall results of FFS flavors of the week

    GW14 – GW20
    Adebayor: 2, 6, 5, 7, 5, 2, 2, 2/ Total: 31 Bad
    Bale: 13, 2, 0, 4, 16, 1, 9, 3/ Total: 48 Good
    Baines: 2, 2, 2, 6, 11, 5, 1, 1/ Total: 30 Bad

    GW15 – GW20
    Jones: 2, 5, 1, 0, 1, -2/ Total: 7 Terrible (injured GW17,18)
    Nani: 18, 3, 16, 3, 1, 2/ Total: 43 Good
    Ba: 12, 2, 11, 9, 2, 12/ Total: 48 Excellent

    GW16 – GW20
    Nani: 3, 16, 3, 1, 2/ Total: 25 Ok
    Mata: 3, 2, 9, 2, 3/ Total: 19 Bad

    GW17 – GW20
    Evans: 6, 0, 0, 0/ Total: 6 Unlucky (injured)
    Drenthe: 2, 0, 0, 1/ Total: 3 Terrible

    Conclusion

The results were mediocre to be fair. It was a mix of the good the bad and the ugly and some cases misfortune. I think we can all take something from this in both learning from our mistakes and to seriously question some of the names that get bandied about on this forum as if they are the obvious choice. Watching games, assessing stats and learning from history is something I will endeavor to do more of in the 2nd half of this season, and most importantly. Never be too keen to follow the crowd. Because chances are, it will only land you in trouble.

      Good summary

I have been more inclined to only chose players in a side I trust. 101 points this G'W because I refused to buy into Everton, will not touch Villa because of their negative football and have jumped on the o'neill BW.

I got caught out by Evans but it was a sensible punt at the time and just unlucky

apologies to those who read this 5 hours ago.....

Guess i cant complain my cup opponent is ranked 2,395,227th in the world. Perhaps its that 40 point hit in GW8 that caused him some problems. He hasn’t made a transfer in 10 gws but he still sets his lineup. Very odd. His likely squad:

    Szczesny

    Enrique, Jones, Walker

    Silva, Kuyt, Larrson, Ramsey, Pilkington

    RVP, Balotelli

    (Graham, Olsson, Kelly(liv)) vs.

    Krul

    Enrique, BAE, Kelly(ful)

    Silva, Nani, Bale, Drenthe(sigh)

    RVP, Adebayor, Yakubu

    (Moses, Kompany, Jagielka)

we both have silva as a doubt and two players on bench that wont play. Do i need to take a hit by dropping drenthe or jags? 1.3 mil in addition to spend.

Yes, worth doubling up on Newcastle I would say. Jag's is sadly likely to drag you back
