The first Scoutcast of 2012 is here. There’s no dressing this up, the Episode title tells you exactly what to expect. With consecutive gameweek scores hovering around the two millionth rank mark and “ghost ship” squads passing me by, who can really blame me?

A string of unfortunate transfers and an errant injury to an Arsenal centre-back threatens to bring my season falling around my ears. Mark spends much of the podcast attempting to reassure me – convinced I’m at the point of no return, whilst simultaneously adding a few sly digs on the 71 points that’s opened up between us. I wouldn’t have expected anything less.

The season and the show must go on. In between gripes, we eventually throw in the usual array of regulars and, by the end, there’s even a sense of hope. Happy New Year? It couldn’t get any worse.

Feel my pain here.

    RMWCT Please

    Vorm (Lindergaard)
    Smalling / BAE / Clichy / Simpson / Naylor
    Silva / Valencia / Bale / Dempsey / Mclean
    RVP / Sturridge / Adebayor

Clichy is a cheap way into the City defence which has kept a 4 clean sheets in the league lately.
Is there anyone you think I should swap out 1.3 in the bank

    Kenny, Given
    Richards, BAE, Senderos, Simpson, Shotton
    Silva, Bale, Sess, Walters, Cabaye
    RVP, Aguero, Ade

Haven’t seen anyone else tout Kenny & Given but it gives you EVE, WIG, QPR, WOL, bla, FUL, EVE, FUL, BOL….not too shabby in my mind.

    Quotes from Pardrew on Santon

“You have to remember he was up against outstanding players in the Manchester United game, and not only did he win that particular battle, but his use of the ball was excellent.”

“He can play both sides and he gives us a massive weaponry. But at the moment, left-back, he looks like he has probably got the nod.”

Bit random BUT, how important to you is it to pick defenders who get assists/goals etc.... For example, I have Simpson & BAE but these never really get points for their attacking threat(Spurs V Eve aside) but are quite cheap. Its a case of relying on clean sheets with these surely?

I've given up on that. The only defenders I'm holding onto who are capable of producing goals/assists is Richards and Shotton. Putting my money into midfield and attack like I should've done in the first half of the season. My defence consists of: Caulker, Kelly, Richards, Evans, Shotton.

Shotton may only be temporary, so I'll keep funds to go Shotton --> Simpson/Santon.

Hoping to aim for clean sheets mainly.

i think that was due to injury, someone on here was on redcafe also & alot onthere were saying he needs a rest... if the newcastle game was anything to go by he prob does need a rest, or just had a very poor game (even b4 the og)

Need to decide on a replacement for Ba tonight since I'm away for the weekend. Naturally Yakubu is appealing but not a great run of games, Sturridge has better fixtures but isn't playing too great.

ive got sturridge AJ, what i like about Bellamy right now is that he seems to be getting the head down and getting on with it, none of the old nonsense like before. playing decent football with a smile on his face. that says a lot about where his head is at. Good potential to rack up points if he plays regularly and with Suarez out he should get decent minutes.

I know this has prob been asked a lot, but who is safer: Williamson or Santon? I'm thinking Williamson, as he's taking S. Taylor's position for the season since there's no other main CBs available. Whereas R. Taylor is always a threat of rotation for Santon.... thoughts?

Newcastle looking at getting in another CB this window. Santon is pretty much nailed on now in my opinion. He is bombong down the wing too. I predict some attacking returns an bonus points for him.

      Comments from AP

“You have to remember he was up against outstanding players in the Manchester United game, and not only did he win that particular battle, but his use of the ball was excellent.”

“He can play both sides and he gives us a massive weaponry. But at the moment, left-back, he looks like he has probably got the nod.”

Yes but "looks like" and "probably" don't sound too assuring coming from Pardew. Just hints at the possibility, not the certainty. Although I could just wait it out and see (not in any rush to get newcastle defenders in as I may be going with Krul as 2nd goalie to Vorm). Thanks for the comments though, much appreciated! 🙂

If Sess is on penalties, then Sess. Seems to do well both home and away, whereas Walters seems to be a home bird not to mention a little more expensive than Sess. Sessegnon's fixtures are well tastier, swansea and norwich after chelsea!

    Hi all,

Please excuse my ignorance but is there somewhere that shows points histories of players throughout the season? Some sort of graph would be cool. I've looked in player profiles and I can't see anything. Just think it would be interesting to see the peaks and troughs in graph of how a player has performed in previous seasons. It could identify certain players that play well at certain periods of the season.

    Any one seen this anywhere.

    Thanks
