Mark Hughes takes charge of his first game as Queens Park Rangers manager today, as his side travels up to the Sports Direct Arena to face Newcastle United. After that, Thierry Henry returns to the Premier League, where he’ll be dreaming of a similar comeback to that of the fabulous Paul Scholes. Heroics or not, the Dugout Discussion is here to follow the events as they unfold (or to further reflect on the majestic Paul Scholes’ return). The team news from early game is in…

Newcastle XI: Krul, Simpson, Williamson, Coloccini, Santon, R.Taylor, Guthrie, Cabaye, Gutierrez, Shola Ameobi, Best.

QPR XI: Kenny, Hill, Ferdinand, Gabbidon, Young, Wright-Phillips, Derry, Buzsaky, Mackie, Bothroyd, Helguson.

It’s more a case of who’s missing today rather than who’s playing. The home side have a chance to leap-frog Liverpool into sixth with a win today, but they’ll have to do so without arguably their best two players. Senegalese Demba Ba and Ivorian Cheick Tiote have escaped to warmer climates for the African Cup of Nations. In come Shola Ameobi and Danny Guthrie.

As for the visitors, Joey Barton is suspended so misses the opportunity to play at his former stomping ground, and Adel Taarabt (Morocco) and Armand Traore (Senegal) are on international duty.

The Dugout Discussion chatroom can be accessed right here, and as you take your seat I’ll leave you with one brilliant fact I heard yesterday (and no, it’s about not Paul Scholes)… If Thierry Henry plays against Swansea today, it’ll be the 34th Premier League side he has faced. He’s scored against every one of the other 33.

    Gents

Senderos > Cahill if he looks like a regular starter?
    Valencia OK for now?
    Studge rotation risk?

    1M for any changes

    Thanks

    bp predictions updated and tweaked:

Bent 3, Ireland 2, Anichebe 1 (close Donovan)
    Dunn 3, Pederson 2, Formica 1
Cole 3, Lampard 2, Bosingwa 1 (close Cech)
Wilson 3, Woodgate 2, Huth 1, Enrique 1 (close Skrtel, quite dependant on how Wilson is scored, he plays in defence but is classed as a mid in FPL so it may affect his clean sheet PPi)
Carrick 3, Welbeck 2, Scholes 1 (swap Welbeck and Carrick round if Welbeck gets the assist)
    Fletcher 3, Johnson 2, Modric 2
    Surman 3, Hoolahan 2, Morison 1
    Best 3 R.Taylor 2, Krul 1
Dyer 3, Graham 2, Sinclair 1 (close Allen, RVP)

sigurdsson's stats were impressive for just 45mins, one to keep an eye on

Just wondering, what do you use to work these out? I've seen you're normally pretty accurate with them so what's the secret?

skrtel has 2 shots off target which i fear could ruin very good defensive stats, specifically tackles

    Thinking 4-4-2 next week,

    Kenny, (Krul)
    Baines, Enrique, Shotton, Riise, (Caulker)
    Dempsey, Silva, Bale, Drenthe, (Surman)
    Rvp, Rooney, (Ade)

Other option is to do Ade/Baines > Aguero/Rangel and go 4-3-3.
    Any opinions would be great.

Wasn't really any stand out performances so most likely to be goalscorer/assister getting them this week. Best only had one shot so think Raylor's unfortunately in with a chance of 3.

    Krul Mignolet
    Simpson BAE Kelly McCauley Shotton
Bale Valencia Mata Dempsey Ben Arfa
    Yak RVP Rooney

What's my transfer priority here? Thinking of Yakubu->Helguson? 1FT 0.1 in bank.

Also not sure whether to keep Rooney for the tough games or get in Aguero. Don't really wanna take 4 pt hits.

Yak at £6M with 0.1 in the bank,

    Transfer out for:

    A. Fletcher
    B. Helguson
    C. Graham

Votes please guys, I'm leaning towards C.
