League leaders Manchester City travel to the DW Stadium tonight, looking to put breathing space between themselves and their city rivals. The Dugout Discussion chatroom opens in anticipation of the conclusion of Gameweek 21.

Both team sheets have been handed in, and here is how they line-up on this horribly cold Monday night…

Wigan XI: Al Habsi, Stam, Alcaraz, Caldwell, Figueroa, McArthur, McCarthy, Gomez, Crusat, Rodallega, Moses.

Man City XI: Hart, Zabaleta, Savic, Lescott, Clichy, Milner, Barry, Nasri, Silva, Aguero, Dzeko.

Roberto Martinez continues with Albert Crusat, who manages to shake off a slight back injury to start tonight. James McArthur begins for only the third time in the league this season, replacing Mohamed Diame who is unavailable thanks to the African Cup of Nations.

Manchester City are forced to partner Jolean Lescott and Stefan Savic at centre-back once more, despite a very ropey performance in their defeat to United last weekend. Elsewhere, David Silva is restored to the starting line-up, Sergio Aguero partners Edin Dzeko up front, and Pablo Zabaleta replaces Micah Richards.

      Harsh i reckon ... he's been playing great football of recent - 4 goals and 7 assists after a very quiet start isn't bad for a 6.5 midfielder on an up-and-coming team.

    Had several poor weeks, 43 having played wc.

    Last weeks team would have got 53, original wc draft would have got 52 so could be worse i guess

    Anyone out there got a bogey player...some prick who keeps screwing with you?

    For me it's Edin Dzeko...early on I resisted the urge to get on the Dzeko gravy train, then he had some big scores and I finally got him in....thinking he was the fantasy buy of the season....Instantly he was benched!

    Couldn't transfer the guy out due to other emergencies....

    Anyway, now I do my wildcard and get Aguero in as Captain, desperately needing some points and Dzeko steals the ball off Aguro as he's about to score and stuffs it up...

    Possibilities:
    A) Save Transfer
    B) Odem > Sturr(assuming he'll start)

        Not really keen on helguson's playing time, morrison's a good shout but not vs Chelski. Leaning towards saving it ATM then going Roon>Aguero + Mata> Silva.

        Or should i just get in Sturridge?

        And how nailed on do you reckon Cahill will be? Straight into the starting XI or slowly rotated in

          I don't feel the Cahill love at the moment. Nor/swans/MANU/bolt all look like possible games that the odd goal or two will be conceded. Cech is a liability in goal.

          Sturridge was inj and did not play this past gameweek. Never a good sign. Players don't just slot in and start scoring.

          Selling Rooney prior to Stoke(h) when City play Eve(a). Look at Kun's away record....

          For the record I'm considering replacing Yak with Graham(vs Chelski) next week. And I personally think Morisson is a better bet than Graham....

          I watched the highlights of the WBA game and Odem was unlucky not to score from a long range shot. Also unlucky that he was not on the pitch when the peno was awarded to WBA.

      A.Torres and Sess. Both have good fixtures for the next few gameweeks. Within the next two gameweeks Torres will score a bundle of goals, in my opinion he's worth getting. Sess is a key factor in sunderland's attack so he's always a wise choice.

            Lol. I don't rate our defence too well either - hope we can gain some solidity before our CL games.

            Big fan of what MON's been doing. Looks like New, Sun & Swa could occupy those traditional Eve, Avl & Ful spots this season. I've owned Sess for the first 8 weeks or so & I realized his main concern is his motivation. He seems to play really well against tougher oppositions and seems disinterested at times vs easier ones. But ofcourse, MON's changed that. For now.

            Which option would you recommend, Tina? Should I be nervous for not owning a City player at home.

              Nah, what the hell I sold Silva(for the 2nd time this season!) and kept Nani this week. I won't have any City players for the next 2 weeks.

    I was thinking that perhaps along with fixtures maybe form is overrated as well apart for a few players, those who are known to score in bursts like rooney or nani, how many times do people score again after scoring well in the last couple of matches, also, shouldn't fixtures be only played for the defense as even in tough fixtures you do get goals. Thoughts?

      depends on the team. The only "tough" fixtures would be the ones including the top teams:
      ManU, City, Spurs, Chelsea, Arsenal facing one another.. IMO anything can happen in any given week(blackburn 3-2 utd 😉 )

      This season is full of Lottery type,the ones who is working hard enough investing time on tinkering,going for diffrerntials are going to waste. Those who do not do transfers or an inactive teams are doing well. I hope the next half of the season will pay off our hard work. 🙂

    evening from nz all. thinking for my transfer this week it will be one of my three tottenham players to maybe a chelsea player. I bought bale at 7.9 so thats a no go. leaving me with either vdv to mata (losing .1) or bae to cahill (losing .3). Theres the obvious question marks around cahill starting, but really I see only 1 clean sheet for tottenham in the next 6-7 fixtures. What would people suggest?

          The fact that your English is not the greatest should not effect the way we treat you(although it's damn funny).

          When I returned from leave you suddenly were called JackOnAttack. Not sure how that happened, but there seems to be some bad blood between you and the real JOA. Why you did the name change I don't care, but it's damn irritating. I've had my differences with JOA as everyone knows. Both of us have moved on and I enjoy our conversations now.

          Suddenly your posts are aggressive and rude. Leave people's moms out of it. Posting that you have emailed FPL towers to take assists away from players you don't own is looking for trouble. Do it, but keep it to yourself.

                In my mini league (a Manchester United forum league), most of people have Rooney instead of RVP. that's a MONEY league, lady. and these assists Rooney arent clear, then we need to review.

                  I had Rvp(c) when that happened. So I feel your pain. Most of us have lost h2h's by 1 pt or even drawn h2h's due to assists being awarded or removed after the game. It's part of the game. If it's an issue you cant deal with then don't enter a money league. Simples.

                  I don't have a problem with you emailing FPL towers. I DO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH YOU COMING ON THIS SITE/BLOG AND TELLING EVERYONE THAT YOU HAVE EMAILED FPL. It's childish.

                  Rudi, I have made some bad punts. Getting the pig over Xmas was one.. Keeping baines up to first wc was another. I am hoping I can finish top 10k, however if I finish in the top 20 k, I'll still be pleased as this is the first year I will not have given up

                    Tell me about it. I sold Silva in gw 2 with the Wc. Then I bought Baines, sold him, bought him....and sold him prior to a big haul...

                    Last week I sold Formica with the WC...he scores..I buy Yak..he gets red card...I sell Silva(Again)..he scores 6+....

                    I buy Rooney(c) and he bloody misses a peno. At least his assist still stands.
