Promoting Bobby Zamora as a Fantasy prospect is no easy feat. There is his injury record for a start. Then there’s a lack of confidence, which has blighted him for long stints throughout his career. He is also rumoured to have had a rocky relationship with his manager Martin Jol, who has left him out of the team for weeks at a time already this season. When he is full of confidence and injury free, has the faith of his manager and a string of beautiful fixtures, though, then the rewards can be huge.

Currently all four of those boxes are ticked. Seemingly back in favour with Jol, he looks set to add substantially to this season’s tally of 61, which includes two double-digit Gameweeks. After being left out for five weeks, apart from a six-minute cameo against Manchester United in Gameweek 17, he has played the full 90 minutes in Fulham’s last two games.

Jol is adamant Zamora is well-loved, even referring to him earlier this year as “my main striker.” This is a clear indication he is back in the fold. The Cottagers boss also insists Zamora’s prolonged absence over the festive period was purely down to an Achilles injury and refutes any suggestion of a spat.

Fixture-wise Fulham’s upcoming schedule seems hugely appealing, with the team traveling to QPR and hosting (NEW, WBA, STK) in the next five game weeks. In addition, Zamora also appears to be high on confidence right now; his last couple of gameweeks have seen him notch the winner against Arsenal and hit the woodwork.

It is also worth noting that with a points per game average of 4.4, he sits just 0.1 behind Clint Dempsey. The American is already a staple of many January wildcard teams, despite costing 8.5 compared to Zamora’s price tag of 6.6.

It may well prove to be a rocky ride for those Fantasy managers brave enough to join the 2.6% who have already selected the former Brighton, Spurs and West Ham striker. There’s little doubt his acquisition would be a definite punt, but he may well prove to be that key differential to help Fantasy managers soar up their mini-leagues like the seagull Zamora once was.

Ok, so my GW24 wildcard is a little different in that I still have the other one as well, and am planning to use that for the GW28 games. With that in mind, what do we think of this lot for GW24-27 incl?

    Sorenson, Schwarzer
M Richards, Huth, Simpson, Senderos, Caulker
    Silva, Dempsey, Walters, Walcott, Moses
    RVP, Aguero, Helgusson

    Bank 1.1m

Will bench Dempsey in GW24 and then do Walcott -> Mata in GW25, benching Moses

Purely a 1 week punt as he has BLA and I fancy Arsenal to score a few, and if Walcott is going to shine it's likely to be against them. I guess I could just stick with Mata, but he has MUN in GW24.

Helgusson is a risk though I admit - will see how much he plays over the next 2, and if he starts he looks good value at 5.2m with (WOL, bla, FUL, EVE) in GW24-27.

Both Goalies are either injuired or Rotation Risk. Richards gets Subbed off before 60 mins and that will frustates you, listen to me get kompany i know he will not play but why to waste transfer on defenders.

Walcott is a good Punt but his fixtures and playing time is att risk,

i think he starts. i base this on the relationship between the player, the manager and the club. Sturridge is a talent and must be appeased and disciplined at the same time. AVB dished out the discipline with the healthy benching, probably settled things with a chat, letting him know he's a future star, and all that ego-filling rhetoric. Then sends him back out there come Saturday.

After Reading the Previous Page posts, i am now at this team with wc active :

    Vorm Krul

    Huth Simpson Enrique Kompany Senderos

    Silva Bale Valencia Walters Sessegnon

    Rvp Aguero Fletcher

I am benching Fletcher this week so playing with 5 mids and 2 strikers up front. 🙂

Simspon is 100 % nailed on so he is a good choice. Enrique is there due to 90% players in overall rankings have him. 🙂

Will do Fletcher ➡ Ba when he is back or might take a punt on Cisse. Doubling on Ba and Cisse interest me 🙂

Morning guys. Seeing as we seem to have the intellectual crew on here today, would any of you care to comment on my potential wc team:

    Vorm, (Krul)
    Enrique, Huth, Kelly (Santon, Evans)
    Silva, Gerrard, Valencia, Walters Sess
    RVP, Rooney, (Fletcher)

    £0m left in bank

GW23 – no transfer, bench Walters play Fletcher
    GW24 – Gerrard/Rooney out Aguero/Donovan (maybe) in
GW25 – Donovan out Dempsey in
GW26 or 27 – Flletcher out Ba in
GW28 – Aguero out Rooney in

My core players are the 2 GK's, Enrique, Silva, RVP. he rest of defence uses China Mags 4 cheapy rotation - Sto, Ful, New, ManU and 2 mfs - Sess & Walters.

team looks pretty good... although i would probably downgrade one midfielder to upgrade defence and make rotation simpler...

Sess averages 4.1 pts at home.

RVP averages 7.1 pts at home & Silva 6.2 pts at home.

I'm going with RVP. There's always a risk with every captain but recently ManU have conceded 3 goals against both Blackburn & Newcastle. RVP in my opinion has a chance of scoring plenty against anyone. Could be a 2 pointer, but I'm willing to take that risk.

A bad habit for many of us =)

As a matter of fact, after the first 4 GWs of failed captain decisions I decided to always captain the same player, luckily I chose RVP. Only times I've made exceptions were against Chelsea (shit happens, had VDV then though) and DGW Bale. Looks like I'm gonna go with RVP till the end.

    Anyone?

    Sorensen (Lindegaard)
Huth / Enrique / R.Taylor (Simpson / Kompany or Richards)
Silva / Dempsey / Sessegnon / Walters (Bale)
    Rvp / Aguero / Fletcher

    Future ideas atm could be
    gw26: Sess + Fletch => McClean + Ba
    gw28: Walters + Huth => Valencia + cheapie (Evans?)

    What's the verdict?

Plan B is Lindegaard, Huth, Fletcher => Vorm, Kelly, Sturridge
    Any better?

Depends on whether you opt for more security in starting in which case you're better off doing Simp to Send. Kelly isnt as secure for a place, but I've opted for him over Naylor (Caulker in your case), purely because he was a cheap way into the Fulham defence and I prefer 2 New at the back rather than 2 Swa given the fixtures.

OK folks. i think that i've cracked it! Do you guys get a bit of a shiver when you look back over the team that you have put together, and it looks awesome? Well I just got a big shiver. What do you think?

    Vorm, Lingergaard
    Huth, Shawcross, Riise, Haangerland, Raylor
    Silva, Bale, Dempsey, Sessegnon, McClean
    RVP, Torres, Best

Seesgnon will become Walters in a couple of games
Raylor and Best will become Santon and Ba

I know all of the arguments against getting Torres. I've just got a hunch.
I would normally go for cheaper defenders, but i've got the cash for the big boys, so why not splash out?

    BOOM!

Feel free to rip it apart. I notice there a few on here who got my rotation analysis, so help would be appreciated. I've still got until tomorrow to make changes.

Yesterdays draft had Kompany and Richards, with senderos and shawcross. That is still an option. But after all of the work I put into my rotation analysis, I want to go all in on it. I'm 90 pts behind the leader in my mini league, so need to do something creative.

Personally I prefer the City players. I think you are taking a massive risk backing Stoke and Fulham with 2 each. Neither defense has been spectacular this year. I would rather take the gamble on a team that is reliable such as City

Doubled up on Stoke in defence?

If I was doing that I would probably lean to Shotton for OOP and £1mil cheaper than Shawx (if you have Huth).

I current have Shotton, Shawx and am changing to Huth, can't justify keeping Shotton aswell, but should work out this weekend.

Was going to question Sess/Mclean double up, but changing to Walters makes more sense.

Also not too keen on doubling up on Fulham defence personally.

You might be right. And its something that I will consider. But i think i'd prefer to gamble on it working out, as the rewards could be great. If the gamble doesn't come then it will cost me 4 pts to downgrade one of the defenders to get Aguero.

I like it China Mag, quite different in several respects. I see you've gone for Sto, Ful, Nc rotation and I like the Best punt, I've half a mind to put him in for Fletcher, 3 decent fixtures. Wouldnt you rather have Senderos/Kelly as your Fulham defenders to leave cash to upgrade Torres to maybe Rooney in a few weeks?

Nice China. I went through your rotation analysis spreadsheet and it was superb. As you said, NEW, FUL, STO came out as the best budget defences and you have built your defence around that (x1 x2 x3). Very logical. But I thought the whole idea of looking at these budget defences was to save megabucks in defence so you could spend it on mid and fwd upgrades? It seems to me by upgrading your budget defenders instead, you've lost the advantage you correctly identified. The mid and forwards are proper differentials but overall need the odd upgrade - betting on too many big players to fail. Just my honest thoughts.

Normally that would be true. But all of the big teams other than City have poor fixtures. And Silva is the only mid that I would want from them. I'm very much a fixtures man (though of course fixtures PLUS form where possible). Upcoming fixtures for Dempsey, Sess and Walters mean that i had lots of cash left over. So why not splash out on the defence.

Aguero for Torres is the only place I would look to upgrade in the forwards, but see above for my feelings on that.

pretty good... i'm guessing etherington is your main differential... so no point recommending you switch him out...

            Agreed...tempted with Valencia too..valencia vs miquel..looks tastier.

quite possibly... the absence of Verm for Arsenal means it's quite likely Wenger will have to start with Miquel again...

yup..Both Nani and Valencia could be influential for Rooney's goals (well, here's an hope) ..and hope he doesnt miss them like how he did against Bolton.

someone from chelsea is going to have 2 goals, or at least a goal and assist and bag the 3 BPs. Who will it be? Lamps? Mata? Sturridge? Torres? Ramires? One of these will be the top scorer of the week. Or Huth.

    Sturridge (C), Huth(VC)

    gettin crazy up in here!!

every week i expected Mata or Torres to grab something when i had em in my team... and everytime it was Fat Frank who ended up with the points... if he starts that is...

dunno about top scorer though... i'm expecting it to be a fairly low scoring game...

Don't (vc)Huth, Sturridge has a very very very slight chance that he could not play, let's say if he does a Richards and pulls something in the warm up. Then you're screwed!!!

Agree with the Sturridge(C) though, I'll be doing that myself. That or Rooney(c), I've flipped so many times! Only leaning back towards Rooney again as Arteta is confirmed out so Arsenal's midfield will be very poor yet again! I think for wildcarders Scholes could be a great punt this week as I think he'll start.

not really looking forward to this week but that could be a sign that it will actually be a good week.

have to make do with this lot though:

    Sorensen
    Richards, JEvans, Williamson
    Sess, Bale, Valencia, Dempsey
    Rooney, RvP, XXXX (Yak replacement)

    Krul, HBA, McAuley, BAE

so the defence is dodgy and i still need to buy a
