While the Anfield faithful celebrate their Carling Cup semi-final victory over Man City, the minds of Fantasy football managers have already moved on to more pressing matters.

Following on from their 3-2 aggregate win this evening, we have another blank fixture looming, with the promise of a double Gameweek to come.

Prior to this evening, Liverpool were set to play host to rivals Everton in Gameweek 26, on Saturday February 25. However, with a trip to Wembley to face Cardiff in the final on the Sunday now secured, this league fixture will be postponed.

As a result, Liverpool’s upcoming fixtures (wlv, TOT, mun, blank, ARS) tell a fairly grim tale, while their Merseyside rivals have an equally unappealing slate ahead of them (MCY wig, CHE, blank, qpr).

The flipside of this, of course, is that this fixture will need to be rearranged and will undoubtedly, at some point, give both of these teams a double Gameweek. It’s now down to the Premier League to find the most appropriate date to reschedule the clash.

For now, we can only really speculate when the double Gameweek will fall. With both sides uninvolved in European competitions, there will certainly be many midweek slots available. We will, of course, share the news of the rescheduled fixture as soon as word breaks.

While the Carling Cup has made the impact on the Merseyside, the FA Cup will likely be the major factor behind all impending double Gameweeks this season. With such a tight schedule ahead of the European Championship, fixture congestion awaits.

Every FA Cup game from the quarter-finals, through to the Wembley showpiece, will take place on a Premier League weekend. The last eight of the competition will be contested in Gameweek 29, so we can expect plenty more rescheduling and double Gameweeks to arrive for the sides who make it through the next two rounds and beyond.

Liverpool fans would be bagging the carling cup should man city have won but all of a sudden it's the biggest domestic trophy.

Same with any fans though - as soon as a trophy is out of reach they feign indifference.

How many Liverpool fans have you actually heard/seen say that it's the biggest domestic trophy?

The same as the Man City fans now pouring scorn on the idea of winning the Carling Cup, I suppose.

As a Liverpool fan, I am delighted that we have a chance again to win a trophy having gone a while now without one.

      Not many teams win trophies.

I can assure you no one is calling it the biggest trophy

Long time no see... WC Time!

What do you guys think about this very generic team?

    Krul (Vorm)
    Kompany Brown Kelly Santon (Huth)
    Dempsey Bale Sess Silva (Dyer)
    RvP Aguero (Ba)

Other option is Valencia/Richards instead of Brown/Silva... which one do you like most?'

    Cheers!

HI Christine, sorry I only just saw your post.

I am not well, I have a water infection so am quarantined at home in bed on Doctors orders.

Taiwo looks good and has played in Champions League (he had Robben in his pocket) so that bodes well. Worth a punt as a 5th defender for sure. I imagine he'll be in that price range you mentioned (surprised he's not on FPL yet actually).

Be interesting if Onouha signs as he's only £4.6m and has OOP potential too.

          Vorm/Krul rotation gives:

CHE/Bla, VIL, NOR, WOL, SUN, MCI, NOR, EVE, LIV, NEW, BOL, BLA, STO, WOL, MCI, LIV

A couple of tricky fixtures but a lot of good ones and the option of a home goalkeeper every week from now until the end of the season - looks pretty good to me. 😕

I have Krul/Mig combo... just feel Sunderland are getting more organised and that their defence is tightening too (typical Martin O'Neil magic here I would say)

I'm going for Dzeko instead of Aguero and then changing him for Ba when he's back.

Aguero appears to be a typical boom or bust FPL player and I've had enough of that from Nani this season.

Bale is in the other MF spot.

You are a fan of differentials clearly aren't you? I was just having fun, and I really do think that midfield and attack suggested is pretty much perfect (or generic as others would say), so of course I'd be recommending that. After that's it all up to you, I'm not hitting the confirm transfer button for you.

Not necessarily a fan of differentials but it gets a bit boring having the same team as everyone else on here.

I have tried to not have the same front 8 as everyone else but I still have the generic midfield. The only thing I might do different is get Mata in for Dempsey but I'll probably keep it as it is.

Everyine on here looks like they'll all be getting the same score every week now. That'll kill the art of conversation won't it.

Poster 1: "I got 56 points this week, is that a good score?"
              Poster 2: "Me too"
Poster 3: "That's the same score as me as well!"
              Poster 4: Me too. Sppoky!"

I'll be able to say I've scored 48 pts as i have Gerrard over Silva. Im packing Rooney too (so to speak) so need those differentials to gain avg 8 pts a week on the league leader.

Still, im quite happy going with just one of Silva/Aguero/Dzeko and doubling up on Citeh's defence as my main differential.

reasoning is that pretty much everyone will have a Citeh defender so why not go with 2 (or 3) to make them hope Citeh don't keep a clean sheet?

Its like when rivals captain RVP .. its the only time you don't want him to score huge.

I did not know most of your competition is on this website, but it's ok to have similar teams. Now just getting Mata because everyone here has Dempsey makes no sense to me. But I realize that if you are falling behind in a league and you need to catch up, a punt on differential is a must. I just gave the sample of the most generic team here, Please go ahead and bring in the torres/gerrard/lampard/bent/ if you need to. I know my rival got in Lampard who got 16 pts in 2 weeks.

Personally, I've gone for Dzeko at the moment, but looking at replacing with Ba when he gets back.

Kind of need something different in my WC front 8 considering I'm going to have the same midfield as everyone else, plus RVP.

Thing I worry about is that Dzeko will be playing much more centrally than Aguero and Dzeko seems to be better VFM atm too... Maybe the Copa America is taking it's toll on Aguero. I still lack the balls to go Dzeko over Aguero though.

I got rid of Mata this week and kept Sturridge in, so I'd vote (3) Mata âž¡ Valencia.

Gettin rid of Sturridge next week. Considering I have Aguero and Silva already, a punt on Dzeko should be outta the question shouldn't it.....or should it? Its either him or Ba.

    Hey Guys

    Team for this week is:

    Vorm
    Evans Senderos Richards
    Valencia Dempsey(c) Silva Bale
    RVP(vc) Roonpig Fletcher

    Bench: McClean Santon Shotton

I'm really not too sure on who to bench this week. It's got to be out of Fletcher or McClean. I benched McClean last week and that bit me on my backside. Also who to (c)?? Its on Dempsey at the mo, but I'll probably chicken out by the deadline and stick it back on RVP.

    Thoughts and suggestions welcome.....

Oh and I still have 1 FT left, was thinking of saving it for next week and bring Aguero and Kompany in for Richards and Roonpig. Good move?

    Many Thanks

IMO based on form and fixtures this midfield combo is the best for the second half and can take you a long way in the season... don't want the headache and feel bad later on when you bench one of them and he goes bonkers scoring double digit points in the match....
and in terms of forwards none of them are consistent enough to play 3 currently.. these two are the best you can get right now...will wait for ba to return n may use 2 FT to fit him in ....

This may look like a regular wind-up, and to a certain extent it is ;), but I'm genuinely interested to know what the current thoughts of Liverpool fans are. It seems like Kenny is doing just enough to get the benefit of the doubt however isn't there a distinct whiff of Benitez about all of this? Is KK living on past glories?

Lets remember, Rafa only failed to delivery Champions League football once in his 6 years in charge. This will be the second consecutive season that Kenny has failed to deliver the same goal although admittedly much of blame for last season's failure belongs to Hodgson. Is a possible Carling Cup triumph just going to be this season's 'Hodgson' if you catch my drift?

Rafa was absolutely castrated by the media and by most of his fans for finishing 7th in the league in 2010. He was sacked very soon after that huge disappointment. Liverpool under Kenny are currently... 7th in the league. 😯

Will winning the Carling Cup make up for missing out on the more prestigious Top 4 again? I'm not sure even Rafa could get away with that.

This is what I'm saying - kenny will hurt Liverpool more than hurt them - he's no manager and should he win the cc it will mask the waste of space that he had bought which a league position cannot hide.

Rafa inhereted a good team, bought in a couple good players and got some great results... but then made some really poor signings and lost some quality players.

Kenny... Well pool are, I guess going through another attempted rebuild and I like what they are doing, and the overall morale of the club is higher.

Also I think in Rafa era I think there was really only the big 4 teams competing for those 4 spots. No offence fans if other clubs. But Tott and of course Manc are now so much stronger last couple years.

The use of "going through a rebuild" only genuinely applies if the players that are being brought in are of a higher standard. With the exception of Jose Enrique (and arguably the arch-villain Suarez), I'm not sure that the rest are, well certainly at the very least it is clear that all that mega money could have been better spent, and would have left them a far better chance to challenge.

P.S. there's no point saying pool could have signed Jones, Aguero, Mata for the price they paid the players they got. Players have a say in what teams they join as well, it's not like pool gets first dibs on players.

Lots of things to address - but I will say one thing... I am a big Kenny fan. He is an absolute legend.

For me, Kenny has done all he can for Liverpool in bringing in proven premiership players to try and improve the squad... Downing, Adam, Enrique, Bellamy.

Carroll - not really an experienced Premiership player but obviously gave the entire country a great impression during his short but brief great time with Newcastle in the top league... it seemed altough expensive but a reasonable buy at the time

Dalglish has applied the pass and move tactics with more togetherness. You can see we are more compact, and more organised. Except for a few odd games (Bolton and Spurs especially), we are a very hard to beat team. The only problem throughout the entire season is scoring... Under Benetiz we were very much a counter attacking team (not pretty to watch but effective), he tried to play more attacking during his last season of management but unfortunately our defence failed miserably that season. Under Hodgson - well, he never stood a chance. Lots of things outside of football going around, and he had no authority over the players... whatever he tried he failed... Roy is a great guy but not the right man for Liverpool...

Like Gerrard said recently - we just need a bit more luck because in just about every game we create lots and lots of chances.

Kenny Dalglish is the man. Hopefully Carling Cup will be the beginning of something new. We have progressed under him since Benetiz

Cisse could take point away from Ba.

It is possible to start with he'll be on the bench coming off at 70+mins for Ba if Newcastle are comfortable.

It could make a formidable front 2 but there is always the chance it could make Ba go off the boil.

I never owned Drenthe. I only looked at Barfa as a short term punt until Ba got back, so I think I will look elsewhere to fill the last slot. Ba's return has upset my Zamora plans, but Demba is just too good to overlook.

I know, but sometimes you read the weirdest stuff on this site. Not having a pop at you personally per se, but why even put that worry out there? If anyone is going to miss out initially it will be Cisse. Maybe they'll give Ba a week off when he gets back to get over jetlag, thats about it.

Best and Ameobi will be backups, they have done a good job for Newcastle over the years but Pardew clearly knows they are not the required quality to challenge for the top 6.

      I'm skeptical about Taarabt.

Hughes is a notoriously hard trainer, something Warnock was not.

I've felt all season that Taarabt's problem was that he wasn't fit enough for the Premier League. Instead of driving forward like he did last season he never seemed to be willing to do that, instead looking for a lay off or killer ball, or shooting from distance.

His lack of confidence, to me anyway, seemed to come from the fact that he knew he wasn't fit enough.

Taarabt is notorious for being a lazy trainer and Warnock let him get away with it. Hughes training regimen is punishing and I'm not sure how Taarabt will respond to it.

No idea about Oxlaide-Chamberlain though, I'm afraid.

    Lindegaard
    BAE Senderos Richards
Valencia Dempsey( c) Silva Bale McClean
    RVP(vc) Rooney

    Vorm, Williamson, Shotton, Yakubu

Great news on the dembas returning early. I'll only have 6.9 to spend when i eventually chuck yak so be hopping on cisse comes if he comes in at 6.5. Other option is to downdrade BAE to cahill most likely and be a ba virgin

Hey guys, I'd like to fit Ba in once he's back and I'm not really sure how. My team:

    Linde, Krul
    Skrtl, Enrique, Raylor, Kelly, Caulker
    Silva, Bale, Sess, Valencia, Walters
    RVP, Rooney, Best

0.3m spare (which I was going to use for Skrtl > Kompany).

To me, Rooney's the obvious candidate for a downgrade (after Stoke), but I had been planning to get Aguero. Do I go for Aguero and hold off to see how/when Ba gets back into his groove or go for Dzeko earlier to free some funds for Best > Ba? Any other ideas?

I think you could downgrade Walters... if you do the move you're planning, you'll have a nightmares chosing who to bench:

      Silva, Bale, Sess, Valencia, Walters
      RVP, Dzeko,Ba

      One must be benched...

Amazing how some of you think I have no sense for looking at all the angles.

It's healthy to look at how a player coming into a club will/can affect other players. It's called debate and it's called a messageboard to debate on.

Less of the crying simply because I suggested Ba may not play 100% of his games. He may well do - nobody knows, but a few of you need to take a chill pill and don't be so aggressive simply because I'm coming up with things to consider.

Agree? Disagree? No problem, just put your case across in the right way, and it's all good.

Yep fair enough, being touchy about your favourite player is embarrassing. At the same time you gotta be aware of where you tread because that's how people are.

Let's just say that last season I was watching a Spurs match. Bunch of Spurs fans there. Heurelho Gomes was in goal and had just flapped at a cross - I said he was a liability. Table of Spurs fans started screaming at me saying he's awesome and I knew nothing about football.

They probably love Brad Friedel now.

I'm not being touchy about my favourite player (I havent even had a favourite player since David Batty hung up his steel plated boots), nor am I a school / college kid (wish I was though, good craic back then).
I am merely just pissed off with some of the nonsensical balls I read on here. As I stated earlier it was not a personal attack, it was more a 'cop yourself on' statement to nip a baseless worry in the bud before it appears every 10 mins on here. Ideas like that spread like a virus on this site, and I find it annoying.
Anyway as I said, it was not a personal attack, if I was talking bollocks I dont mind people pointing that out to me either. Its been done before and I dont get prissy about it.

Attila I still think that GW26 is the best time to get Ba. He may not get released from Senegal's last game and if he is Pardew may give him 1 game off to recover (not saying that Ba will be dropped, just given 1 game off the get back to 100% before he's back in) and Zamora in GW25 has a better fixture than Ba. That is just my opinion.

with this I concur, you simply do not drop your top scorer for no reason. Ba has done nothing to deserve being dropped, and Best and Ameobi have hardly made a case to keep him out.

I know where you're coming from, sometimes you read some crap and then see it replicate for the rest of the day at periodic intervals in the comments... and I think you are very likely to be right about Ba.

It's just that in a way it's futile to get emotionally invested in anything posted on the site - if you know the truth, you gain, if people delude themselves, their loss. Over the long run the speakers of truth shall be vindicated and those who cry wolf given very severe abuse 😀

I think it's really well run though - the choices of writers, articles and the overall direction of the site are excellent.

Let's be honest, don't you ever sit back and feel a bit smug when you see people running around rumours you know are baseless? I'll hold my hand up...

It's Liverpool VS Everton, actually. Skrtel would be a great shout if it falls in a period where Liverpool's fixtures are decent-good. Also, if Gerrard hits form, Gerrard (c) DGW could be a game changer. I didn't go near Everton last DGW and won't be going near them again.

Well yes, in FPL as in real life, as ever there's plenty of potential in Liverpool's players but I am yet to see them deliver. The only consistent thing they'd given us up to now was simple defensive points - collect your CS and go - from Enrique et al, although there was almost no chance of attacking points from the defenders. Now even the CS are looking buggered.
