A consistent if unglamorous pick in recent seasons, many Fantasy managers have enjoyed a flirtatious relationship with Wigan’s Hugo Rodallega. With Charles N’Zogbia long the reigning belle of the Wigan ball, and heavy investment in an inconsistent side understandably rare, Rodallega’s liaisons with our squads have tended to be brief and furtive affairs.

Perennially priced around the 6.0 mark in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL), a record boasting 272 points over the previous couple of seasons belies the Colombian’s girl-next-door reputation, and with N’Zogbia tying the knot with Aston Villa in August, Rodallega’s opportunity to step out of the shadows seemed finally to have arrived.

Fortune seldom scripts a straightforward ascent for would-be heroes, and a knee injury in September consigned Rodallega to the treatment table in what should have been his hour of triumph. Struggling to regain full fitness, his re-introduction to Premier League society was a stop-start affair. Seemingly burdened by Wigan’s reliance on his goals, a slump in form was exacerbated by uncertainty over his future. While a mooted move to Fulham may fail to come to fruition, a summer move seems a certainty, and, in the meantime, a fully fit and firing Rodallega looks to have his head back in the game and a determination that his last hurrah for Wigan will lead them to Premier League salvation. It’s worth noting that a transfer to Fulham could also prove dividend, though, with the Cottagers’ fixtures and strong home form affording their attacking options plenty chances of points.

Scoring or assisting every one of his side’s goals since the end of gameweek 16, Rodallega’s fine fettle has been the only ray of light in a gloomy winter for a side now happily poised on the shore of a sea of season-ticker blue.Wigan’s reliance on the Colombian hitman has never been more palpable, and Martinez’s apparent decision to let him walk away on a free transfer in the summer appears a judicious sacrifice for the Latics’ Premier League survival prospects.

A tricky away trip to Spurs is followed by a mouth-watering run of games (EVE bol AVL SWA nor WBA) in which Martinez’s men will be keenly aware that they must conquer or perish. Anything but prolific scorers in recent weeks, Wigan certainly have the ethos and the capability to rack up the goals, and with Rodallega back at his best and leading the line, he is more than likely to be involved when, not if, Wigan’s attacks bear fruit. Currently priced at 5.9 in the FPL, Rodallega could offer strong value over the coming Gameweeks, and, with setbacks overcome, the script seems to be set for a heroic final act to the Colombian’s Latics story.

For those considering Ba and Cisses, interesting note from Zonal Marking Guardian column:

"The duo only started one match together – the defeat to their hosts in the second match – but it was interesting to see how they worked together. Ba played as the primary striker, remaining in central positions for crosses, while Cissé played around him, dropping deep and making runs to the channels. That was something of a surprise given Ba seems the more technically gifted player while Cissé is a classic No9, and Senegal's lack of success supports the theory that they might be better the other way around."

Anyone considering Cisse as a differential?

      • 16 Years
      14 years, 2 months ago

No. A differential needs to outscore the other player, in this case Ba, to be worth it. Cisse has not even played 1 min if PL football.

I was considering it although if I was looking to get one of those two in now I'd get Ba and then drop to Cisse if he does hit the ground running.

For me his price of £7m doesn't make him cheap enough to Ba's £7.3m to take the gamble

Definitely leave it a week or two and see how he settles/how Pardew plays him. Even if he is an out and out no.9 I can't see it affecting Ba's performances and goal tally, and it still won't dislodge him from his spot kick duties. I think for the extra 0.3 million it hardly seems worth the risk.
Also, in his first 2-3 weeks back Ba will still remain a differential.

zamora is a nice differential. 6.7% ownership, a nie run of fixtures, a nice run of form, and cheaper.Welbeck, same price, only owned by 4.3%. United have tricky fixtures but they have f*** all else to play for now, so expect guns a blazin from Fergie

I don't mind doubling up on teams defences at all, but not with an investment of nearly 13m. I don't like Liverpools fixtures so yeah I'd get rid of Skrtel, but maybe for the likes of Cahill and free up some cash.
Man City hve been ropey at the back of late also, I culdn't justify pouring 13mill into the two of them.

at the end of the day - these kind of chants are just ridiculous.

Complete low form of wit - actually I wouldn't even call it that...

it's as low as taking the mick out of Rooney for sleeping with hookers... or Terry on his mum stealing from marks and sparks

they are offensive because they are intended to offend - I wouldn't enjoy listening to it if I was at the stadium

at the end of the day - a lot of what is chanted at football games - you wouldn't teach your kids to chant them

    Gk – Mignolet, Vorm
Def – Naylor, Evans, Simpson, BAE, Kompany
Mid – Bale, Silva, Valencia, McClean, Modric for a differential (I hope -Tottenham fan)
Fwd – RVP, Aguero, Morison (Gonna make way for Ba later on… first study his form)

I have the generic midfield of Bale, Silva, Dempsey, Valencia & Sessegnon

But I just realised if I get McClean instead of Sess I can have Vermaelen instead of Taiwo.

    So my question is

    a) Taiwo & Sessegnon

    or

    b) Vermaelen & McClean

Is Senderos a better option than Kelly? Currently on Senderos but the additional 0.4m will come in handy at some point.. I do want someone who's going to play every week, though.

I'm clueless about the Fulham back line - can anyone shed some light on whether Kelly's starting role is likely to be at risk any time soon?

S - more nailed on, imo. but only slightly. also a larger goal threat/chance of Baps in case they get a CS.
K - 0.4 cheaper, if you have a good support defence if he doesn't start, then K is a good option.
