After a frenetic Deadline Day Tuesday that saw an abundance of big-name moves, such as Nikica Jelavic to Everton (massive), the Dugout Discussion returns to complete Gameweek 23. We’ve got five more Premier League fixtures to pour over tonight, but with most of the big-hitters on show yesterday, fantasy points may be a little thin on the ground.

We start at Villa Park with a slightly earlier kick-off, where Alex McCleish’s side play host Mark Hughes’ Queens Park Rangers. The other four games get under way on the hour, including the televised game at the Stadium of Light between Sunderland and Norwich City (definitely worth watching ahead of Valencia Vs. Barcelona).

There’s also Blackburn Rovers versus Newcastle United, Arsenal travel to the Reebok Stadium to face Bolton Wanderers, and a Bobby Zamora-less Fulham welcome the visit of Roy Hodgson’s West Bromich Albion.

Follow all the action in our Dugout Discussion chatroom, which will remain open until all the dust has settled from what has already been an eventful Gameweek 23.

Me, I think you should be able to do any formation within reason, would really shake things up in a season where there are 4-5 defensive teams (Chelsea/United of a couple of seasons past) playing really well and 4-5 attacking teams doing really well (Spurs this season/City).

I don't. No team plays with only 2 defenders, and if we don't care we might as well allow teams to play with two goalkeepers.

I don't agree. The next 3 weeks are bad, Spurs, United and a blank. But after that the fixtures are decent with a double gameweek on the way, if you bought him at 5 million it might be worth stashing him on the bench for the next 3 weeks.

    A) BAE > (4.4m def), Fletcher > Ba

    or

    B) Valencia > Walters, Fletcher > Ba

B might work because the remainder of my midfield is Sess, Bale, Silva and Dempsey.

    Any thoughts?

Wait until you can catch a price rise for BAE, that would allow you to get an extra 0.1& then go for Taiwo (4.5). Valencia is on fire, his fixtures might be tough, but he still manages to get some decent points

Skrtel & Hangeland are this week I think, so best combo:

    1) Vermaelen & Clichy
    2) Vermaelen & Huth
    3) Kompany & Huth
    4) Kompany & Clichy

I do like the idea of doubling up in defence but this current Fulham doubling is slightly putting me off tho.

    enrique, evans, dawson, kelly, simpson,
valencia, dempsey, silva, bale, ben arfa,
    rvp, ade, sturridge…

given the fixtures i really want augero and ba in my team..

    sturridge > Ba
    ade > augero
benarfa > moses (too many newcastle players and wigan have good fixtures)
enrique > wilkson (only way i can afford above transfers, liverpools fixtures aint great)

I am beginning to think that maybe I'm playing fixtures too hard and should play form some more.

There's many great players I immediately rule out because they have patchy fixtures. But I'm not convinced this season there's actually been a significant drop in attacking points in tougher fixtures. Goals everywhere.

Basically what I'm saying is that there have been lots of goals this year (I believe this is borne out by the stats) and the defences have not been as tight. So it still makes sense to play attacking players in traditionally tough fixtures.

The reverse applies to defenders, because they're letting in more goals than before, you need to cherry pick the fixtures extra well.

I have no stats to back this up but form & fixtures usually run side by side except in exceptional circumstances like Ba this season. I am hoping Aggy finds some "form" due to his fixtures... but ideally you just want a beat that scores no matter what, like my (c) RVP 😉

WC played and I've just done the unthinkable (for me) - brought RVP in for the first time this season. Given up on being stubborn and decided that he's going to score at least 2 goals v Blackburn.

Yeah I should have done it about 20 GW's ago but kept telling myself he'd stop scoring/get injured.

Thing is literally everyone will captain him this week so I could end up losing 30/40 points to all my rivals and plummet in the overall ranks. I'd take him out again in 2 or 3 weeks.

I would go for a different Arsenal player to kind of cover but there's no good midfield option at all.

You're right, FISO should never be used to decide between players because player decisions should be based on points. HOWEVER I think it's fine to use FISO to decide the timing of transfers.

I disagree, my rival basically has Valencia to my Dyer, and can afford to match any moves I make, proving difficult to make ground when our teams are essentially the same, except he can upgrade on any one player.

If he forces me into a differential I wouldn't otherwise pick it;s even better for him.

So what to do this week with my squad?

    Lindy, Krul
    BAE, Senderos, Santon, Brown, Evans
    Bale, Silva, Pilkington, McClean, Dempsey
    RVP, Berbatov, Aguero

1FT with 3.3m in the bank.
Brought Berbs in last week for a punt so obviously he needs to go at some stage. Injury cloud over Lindy and Brown. Berbatov most likely will not play with Rooney most likely back this week but if I can get away with just leaving him on my bench this week that would be ideal.
Anyone willing to have a go? All suggestions welcome.

Play Dempsey... Fulham usually score against City..And they have a decent record at Eastlands

McClean Stoke are conceding goals lately.
Pulis might field a weaken team with that valencia game coming up.
Dempsey though 27 points from 2 games nat bad:)

McClean is currently the best bandwagon ever. I can't remember who started it, some bloody hero.

I'd love to be able to take punts on players with him. Unfortunately, I need to preserve my high rank and want to maintain it rather than risk it for higher 😉

    Ahhhhh.

In a completely unrelated topic, I just got the Perfect Freeflow 2.0 trophy on Batman: Arkham City. Epic combo.

Had one of these moments when I did it:

enrique > wilkson (only way i can afford above transfers, liverpools fixtures aint great)

The top of the depth chart (to borrow a term from american sports) imo is: Cisse, Zamora, Macheda, Helguson. Mackie plays in midfield. I guess a lot of them will leave in the summer. DJ Campbell doesn't stand a chance anymore.

What odds would you monitor? First goal scorer, goal scorer, hat-trick for attacking players obv, but for defenders?

    STRIKER ADVICE

    Vorm, Krul
    Simpson, Rangel, Walker, Komps, Bardsley
    Silva, Sess, SPetrov, Bale, Demps
RVP, Helguson (5.2), Zamora (6.6) (sell value)
    Bank: 0.6

With Cisse and Zamora up top for QPR Helgusons days are over. Zamoras switch from Fulham makes him less of a threat (although QPR is a 3-3 team and Fulham more like 0-0) in my book. I've got 1 FT and guess I should transfer Helguson first. Who do I get?
