With the Paddy Paddy Cup V sewn up last week by sleepingmaster, we now turn our attention to it’s sister competition, the Members Paddy Power Cup II. Over 900 Fantasy Football Scout members signed up, with hopes of qualifying for the first round of 512. As expected, the standard was very high, and the qualifying mark was set at a lofty 82 points for Gameweek 24.

That put 494 in the hat for round one, and forced 41 fantasy managers to rely on their overall rank to earn one of the remaining 17 spots. The list of all qualifiers can be viewed right here.

On to the first round draw then, which has been made and can be viewed right here. All 256 fixtures will be played over the upcoming Gameweek 25, and the result will follow shortly afterwards.

Our reigning champ, Kippax Kikkers (formerly Kippax Kolggers), is up against leekota, as he looks to defend his title.

Elsewhere, plenty of Scouts (not me) are in the mix – Mark takes on Shimmy, G-G-Granville has drawn Shehzu, Andy will square up to Lucas that is all, it’s Big Dunc Vs. ChrisHighwind, Pure Olivia is up against djembe, Anorak‘s been paired with Primprong, and Jonty will play johnd.

The prize? Well, once again sponsors Paddy Power are supplying the competition with some great prizes and we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down as follows:

  • Winner – £150 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
  • Runner-up – £75 worth of free bets. £30 Amazon Voucher
  • 3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £20 Amazon Voucher

Remember, to claim a prize you will need a Paddy Power account and be aged 18 and over to be eligible. Prizes are also subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions.

If you’ve yet to register a Paddy Power account, then you can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register and bet £10.

Finally, if you set up an account and are going to bet with Paddy Power, always gamble responsibly.

Who should I drop for siggy?

Valencia, McClean, Sess, Bale, or Dempsey??

Cos he decided on Siggy before this week, he is a Chelsea fan who knows the merits of Sinclair etc.

Anyway, who do you think is best? I feel Sinclair is there for the long term, not sure how much Siggy is a flash in the pan.

He does free up cash though for an Aguero/Rooney home rotation in a few weeks

C'mere i didn't realise you were the guy that won last year!, thought it was a dude named "newsome" or the like. I thought you were a reporter that did a few articles for the site. Dunno how i mixed that one up!
May i say a MASSIVE congrats, UNBELEIVEABLE TEKKERS on last years win.
I would actually swap my balls and house to win it!, well maybe just one ball, but defo the house!
We have a cracking mini league worth 1500 Euro, iv'e been lucky enough to win it twice, trophy with past winners name on it and all 🙂 , Some buzz winning that but to beat 2 million people must be some buzz....

Got a great team so no need to do anything rash. I'm also considering valencia out as im not sure he is as valuable now young and soon nani are back and with difficult fixtures. Easier for me as going to get Dempsey instead but you dont have such an obvious replcament so ????

Depends on your league situation and what sort of player you are. Personally, i'd do maverick moves like Valencia & Mclean -> Sigurdsson & Taarabt or Valencia & Taiwo/Senderos -> Taarabt & Luiz

I'd do Mclean -> Siggy after his rise tonight, and probably bench Valencia this week (i.e. have exactly the same front 7 as me! 😉 ). Play Valencia next week though as he could do some damage at Norwich...

Tweaked up my team a bit, playing someone who has abandoned their team so I think I'm safe to take an 8 point hit to clean house. Feedback on benchwarmers and captains?

    Vorm
    Simpson, N. Taylor, McAuley
    Dempsey(C), Sigurdsson, Bale, Silva(V)
    Ba, RVP, Aguero

    Bench: Stockdale, Sessegnon, Evans, Shotton

Keeping Evans out, as I am pissed at him for having another negative week, and Liverpool will be tough to keep a cleansheet with. Sess had a long match and walked off with a limp, plus potentially a tough match. He's first in my bench though. Shotton is a discount defense play, and since I'm putting a lot of focus on Fulham, don't want to lose it all if it pays off.

A lot of talk over the last couple of days from people intent on removing Valencia from their teams. My plan was to bring him in soon. Why would Ferguson play Young ahead of Valencia? I don't see any reason why he would. Valencia had a good run down the stretch last year too.

Because he's Fergie and can never be second guessed no matter how 'obvious' the lineup should appear to be. There is also a chance Tony V can be shifted into defence while Nani and Young both start.

Of course he has still managed to get points from right back, but I'd rather not have an anti OOP or rotation risk with shite fixtures in my team when there are decent alternatives out there.

No point holding on to Huth when you have a freebie. Plus by the time his ban has finished, Stokes good fixtures will have ended. Get rid asap.

lol nah you may actually be right. After looking at my team and upcoming fixtures, I'm actually considering just benching Huth for a bit myself. I've got time to decide though, he's not gonna fall in price any time soon. Unless I haven't looked at the fallers properly.

I don't know why some people are considering captaining RVP this week, Sunderland's defence is incredibly lacking in generosity and in 12 games at home, they've conceded 11, plus the biggest defeat was 1-0!!

Sunderland have just played 120 mins, Sess came off with either cramps or a knock... Arsenal are coming off the back of their best win of the season... RVP just scored a hat-trick & made 2 assists... the Ox looks like he could easily unlock a tight defence with his pace and skill....

I realise Sunderland are a much harder test than Blackburn... but there you have it...

I haven't decided who i'll captain this week... at the moment it's a toss up between RVP & Dempsey... but either way it doesn't change anything regarding the answer i gave you before... you asked why anyone would consider RVP this week and i gave you the answer...

If you're not impressed with the idea of giving RVP the armband then simply give it to someone else...

Morning everyone, I was set to save my transfer this week but noticed there's so much love for Siggy on this site now I feel like jumping in the wagon and do Moses > Siggy. I've got the same mid+forwards like everyone else (Silva, Bale, Valencia, Dempsey + VP, Kun, Ba) so would like some thoughts if it is wise to use a transfer on Siggy and bench one of Ba or Valencia? 😕

McGurn if you're still about, what ranking are you on this time of the year last season? Were you always around the top 100 or did you make big punts to chase the top spot? Appreciate some advise 🙂

Am pondering who to bring in for Verm. Would prefer to bring in someone for a few weeks so was looking at Chelsea. Rotation seems to be a bit of a problem though. Had Cahill in mind purely from money pov. Should I just play Verm at Sunderand? ( I dont like it) Capt will be Aguero or RVP I think

Looking at your team, Id do Verm to Jevans (Im doing Shawcross to Jevans as well this gw or next). Scrolling through the fixtures I think you can play Richards/Jevans everyweek and the cheapies to rotate.

Verm is not worth for his price imo 🙂

Im starting to regret having Aguero in my team , i mean at 11 million a striker should be a no brainer startet , the fact people are considering benching him shows hes not really worth the meny .
Was going to lose Sturridge to bring in Ba , maybe Agrero should go

Get 1m in cash by dropping a midfielder, then just rotate Aguero and Rooney for home games over the coming months. Ba and Sess/McClean also rotate well

Hi Rebeldog the comment was meant for Trigger but I would still be interested in your view on an Aguero/Rooney rotation for home games given Aguero's form away.

Then you don't need to play with the midfield too much and get good cover for thei easy games

    Vorm — Ruddy

    Kompany — J Evans — Senderos — ShawX — Simpson

    Valencia — Bale — Sess — McClean — Silva

    Ba — RVP — Dzeko

Reckon for GW25 it may be worth taking a 4-pt hit to do:

    Valencia -> Siggy
    Dzeko -> Aguero

Seems a bit crazy as Valencia has good fixtures but seemingly might be a rotation risk, however Kun has two great fixtures and seems a risk not to have him.

    Any thoughts?

Guess so, I think it's just for GW26 and 27 I'm cautious as to Balo being back and Dzeko perhaps being the one more likely to be rotated with Kun's quality at home.

Might have to throw caution to the wind and keep him, just hoping it doesn't come back to haunt me!

If you're gonna make a change I would bring in Siggy or whoever for one of the Sunderland players, having 2 isn't a great idea in my opinion especially with Frazier Campbell back and Bendtner to come back. Sunderland have had to rely on their mids lately but that won't be the case in the next few GW's...just a thought

True, would prefer to rid of one of them and perhaps get Kun in them but money doesn't allow unfortunately 🙁

May see next week what the situation is and perhaps another week after that to collect 2FT's.

Using the WC allowed me to get a great team to move up in ranks but not getting Dempsey and not paying enough attention to money rises/dips has meant I've got a fair bit less than many people around my rank.

            Cheers for the info 🙂

Yeah, I've made a multitude of rash decisions this year in terms of transfers (think I do a 12 point hit one week).

Played last year but very irregularly, so this years been more to do with learning the system and the tactics of it.

Think I'll have to see closer to the time and keep updated on any potential news/injuries which may influence my decision, all I really care about now is winning one of my particular mini-leagues, currently moved up to 1st place but by less than 20 points!

Just trying to work out what happened with Senderos. Some said he was subbed to protect him from a second yellow, but found this on a minute by minute..

Looks like a need a defensive sub??

66' Dean has booked Senderos too, to add insult to injury - that is a poor decision. I can only think that, in the snow, he didn't realise that Senderos got the ball, not Kolarov. It was a 50-50 and Kolarov was late.
67' With Senderos receiving treatment after getting booked for being fouled, Kolarov blasts it over.
69' Finally Senderos is back on, having received treatment to that knock on the knee. Schwarzer sends the goal kick long.
72' GOAL CITY! Dzeko rolls it in after a lovely run by Aguero down the left. Game set and match, Balotelli celebrating in the directors' box with his mates.
FULHAM SUB: Senderos can't continue so Riise comes on. A reshuffle - Baird to centre-back and Riise to play left-back.

Difficult one then, hard to say of those you have, perhaps Walcott to Sigurdsson though, best chance to make a differential.

I imagine a few of you have a similar problem to me this week - to transfer out or just bench Huth this week - if transferring out, who to get and would they replace any of the back 3 below?

    Schwarzer
    Kompany, Rangel, Caulker
    Silva, Bale(vc), Dempsey, Siggy
    RVP(c), Aguero, Ba

    Sorenson, Moses, Simpson, Huth

Hmm, Huth to Kelly could be good and gives you some more money to upgrade on others. Also has good fixtures.

Was thinking about saving it and then using 2 next week (one to get rid of Huth) - could come in handy with a bunch of FA cup games in between.... Kelly would be doubling on FUL (which isn't really any better than doubling on Swansea is it?)

          Hmm, hadn't thought of that.

Maybe JEvans for the long term (i.e GW26 and then 28 onwards)?

Pretty good value and you can be fairly sure he should start. Plus Man U should keep clean sheets.

Yeah, he'll probably be coming in when I wildcard in GW28, but before then his fixtures aren't great. Thinking about how to get Mata in next week. Perhaps Huth/Bale -> Cahill (if he's starting) and Mata?

Ahhh didn't realise you had WC still. Mata is a tough one, he's not been doing too great lately - admittedly his last goal was nice though.

Fixtures in the favour of Mata though, it's just Bale is in form. Guess you'll have to make the decision nearer the time and see what position you are in - such as if trailing, perhaps Mata in for sure to make up differential and otherwise maybe keep Bale.

Huth to Cahill would be a great choice in my opinion, as you say though it's the trouble of him being sure to start or not.

In my opinion he should be but it's not certain unfortunately, as he could very well get attacking points with the chance of assists/goals.

Good differential on the front-line, would feel at risk not having Aguero for the GW26+27 though. Perhaps changing Rooney to him if he doesn't do well tomorrow and then bringing Rooney back in when Man U have their nice run of fixtures?

Other than that, a generally good team. 7/10.

      Very nice, I'm jealous.

Captain is a difficult one, one of the hardest decisions in many a GW.

Probably depends on your position in the leagues, if doing well/leading RVP is a safer bet. If catching up, Dempsey or Bale are probably your men to choose from.

Alright Kirby mate! Thanks for input!

Been top in private league all season, playing for money, 25 of us, big funds gone in pot!!!

Just slipped to joint 2nd, 3 points behind top, playing a lame-ish team this GW, so made some transfers. On -8points, but iv played the transfer game all season and its been succesful, need all 3 points for sure, but got a strange feeling, sunderlands defence will hold out, and if someone does score, strange feeling it wont be RVP.....fancy Ag you know...poor Villa defence???

          No problem 🙂

Ahh nice! Must feel nerve-wracking, good luck to you in it!

I personally dislike leading in my mini-leagues (unless it's by 100+ points, then I like it). Generally just like being just behind for some reason, guess it makes me less likely to make rash decisions!

I usually play that way too, thinking of doing it next week to swap Dzeko for Kun for GW26+27.

Regards to Sunderland, tough to say. Just that whenever a ball goes to RVPs left foot, it always seems destined goalwards.

Aguero could be a good punt though, not usually good away but can see him getting one or two goals against Villa!

If I had your team I'd probably think about Senderos. But listen out for news on his fitness though, don't just bring him in. If not then probably just stick it out. After this week Newcastle have a couple of good fixtures in a row which doubling up in defence wont be the worst idea in the world.

Looking forward, another thing to consider is perhaps upgrading one Newcastle defender for a Chelsea one. GWs 26-27 look pretty good for them and Cole may be worth a look before going for a Liverpool defender from 28 or 29 onwards...
