With the Paddy Paddy Cup V sewn up last week by sleepingmaster, we now turn our attention to it’s sister competition, the Members Paddy Power Cup II. Over 900 Fantasy Football Scout members signed up, with hopes of qualifying for the first round of 512. As expected, the standard was very high, and the qualifying mark was set at a lofty 82 points for Gameweek 24.

That put 494 in the hat for round one, and forced 41 fantasy managers to rely on their overall rank to earn one of the remaining 17 spots. The list of all qualifiers can be viewed right here.

On to the first round draw then, which has been made and can be viewed right here. All 256 fixtures will be played over the upcoming Gameweek 25, and the result will follow shortly afterwards.

Our reigning champ, Kippax Kikkers (formerly Kippax Kolggers), is up against leekota, as he looks to defend his title.

Elsewhere, plenty of Scouts (not me) are in the mix – Mark takes on Shimmy, G-G-Granville has drawn Shehzu, Andy will square up to Lucas that is all, it’s Big Dunc Vs. ChrisHighwind, Pure Olivia is up against djembe, Anorak‘s been paired with Primprong, and Jonty will play johnd.

The prize? Well, once again sponsors Paddy Power are supplying the competition with some great prizes and we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down as follows:

    Ok, so it's obvious that there is a 0.3 rise cap per gameweek.. But starting to wonder if Ba can jump 0.2 in one go as the gw ticks over... ??

      In theory, 0.1 jump +/- is the maximum, per day. All extraneous NTI are discarded/reset.

    Ba RVP Aguero

    Actually thinking i might captain Silva?!
    Aguero has let me down on numerous occasions as captain.
    Concerned about Arsenal vs Sunderland, a bit hit and miss in some games this year and then there's the threat of rest for RVP with Champions League coming up.

    Thoughts on Silva for this week?
    I'm really struggling, cheers 🙂

      i like bale better. sinclair at home shouldnt be counted out either. I do like the SIlva notion though. Can pop up with a goal and an assist, and around here anyway, seems an armband differential.

          I didn't go with Dempsey (possibly a big regret!)
          Stoke have been a bit poor of late, but i always fancy them to keep clean sheets and Pulis tends to read the riot act after some bad results and Stoke bounce back to their old selves.
          I went with Sinclair's home form, and Norwich's record of conceeding a ship-load (i said ship!)

          Though i do agree that Dempsey is a good prospect and especially for the next few weeks.

    I've been trying to avoid hits where possible all season, but i'm thinking that I should make one or two around GW28-30, to set me up for the rest of the season. What I wouldn't give for to still have wildcard! For you non wild card holders, how many (if any) hits do you think will be justified to bring in Man Utd, Spurs and Liverpool players? Will probably want 3 united players from GW28 (currently 0), 3 Spurs from 29 or 31 (currently 1), and 1 or 2 liverpool from GW30 (currently 0).

    Looking at MAN UTD: evans, jones, valencia, nani, rooney, hernandez/welbeck SPURS BAE, walker, dawson, adebayor, VDV, lennon? ? LIVERPOOL enrique, agger, suarez. Have I missed any?

        Used it for the big fixture switch in the GW12? Made a big jump in my mini leagues since then so don't regret using it. My team was also decimated with injuries and poor form at the time as well. I wish that the 2nd wild card wasn't restricted too January. Any idea why they do that? By leaving you free to choose, it would help us guys who actually plan out what we're going to do, rather than pick teams on a week by week basis.

          Why though? Guess you know the pros.

          But have you thought about Dempsey's cons:
          1) Not on any kind of set-pieces with Murphy/Ruiz on the field.
          2) Always has shots off target, although off-late he's been converting a few. Not really a Baps magnet in a low-scoring game.
          3) Take both the hat-tricks. Fair portion of the goals were created/assisted by BZ. Who will be the support cast this time around?
          4) As much as ppl around here think Huth makes Stoke a better defence, I disagree. I thought Woody/Upson were solid alongside ShawX. Huth lacks discipline/positional sense - it's mainly cos of his goal threat that TP plays him. Thanks to his CB partner ShawX, he's in the team. Take the Bol/NEW games, you'll figure out how horrid Huth is.

            Convincing argument. Add to that, Stoke have only conceeded 3 in their last 3 away games (2 of them against MUN and LIV) - the Dempsey landslide is perhaps optimistic at best.... Are you going Aguero(c) El Nino?

          I wouldn't read too much into it. With the amount of goals City score, it's not surprising at all. Plus, Aguero's on penalties now and could have had 3-4 more goals to change those stats.

          On the positive side, look at the safe players to captain on any particular week (%QG close to 50%)

          RVP (wouldn't be over-used due to midweek game, wouldn't be surprised if he was benched)
          Ba (away to Tot, who are solid at home)
          Silva
          Aguero

        Udit, I'm thinking something along those lines. If I bring in a forward for Ade (Zamora or Ba), then I'd play 3-4-3. If I bring in Siggy, I'd play 3-5-2 and either bench Bent or don't bring in a forward....or something like that. (And yeah, my self-inflicted limitations do not permit me to field Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea or Pool players).

      The Anti Top Four makes it a bit interesting. Adebayor out for Ba IMO. I like the punt on Bent - has some decent fixtures coming up after the City game from GWs 26 through 29 but I wouldn't want him after that. Also, Walters out for Sigurdsson or Taarabt.

      I'd look at upgrading your defense just a bit also, especially with Bogdan as one your keepers. Surprised you don't have any other Newcastle defenders - Simpson/Santon good picks there instead of Clark/Shotton.

        Newman, I think I'm going Krul instead of Mignolet just to be safe after those 120 mins. Also, form over fixtures - Krul seems to pull off spectacular saves & with Tot, you are always in contention for a missed penalty 😉

          Its really tough (one of the reasons I decided against Krul/Mig)

          Whenever its close like that, I always pick the home keeper. If you're 100% sure niether will keep a cleanie, then sure, I see the logic in Krul. I just don't buy the 'saves' motivator. If Spurs score 2, it nullifies 3 saves. Not sure that's worth it.

          If it were me, I'd go mig.

              Should Senderos be verified, I will keep my transfer. Even if not, I may keep it.

              I think siggy is the real deal. Sadly, my strategy is set up to have a sitter at all times, so Dyer>Siggy is sideways, for me. O well....we shall see after this week, when I have 2 transfers, if I really want him.

              If he gets penos, he becomes must-have.

      Guilty with Vorm / Caulkner. They've done very well for me, so I will continue to trust them even if it doesn't work out on the day, like Kompany. They've earned that much from me.
