With a bag full of points from the Scout Picks last gameweek, it was a surprise to see our Paddy Power wallet containing nothing but a used train ticket and a couple of crumpled receipts. Robert Huth’s early red card set the tone, with Sergio Aguero’s goal and a win at 4/5 the only market to come in. With Talent and Watchlist figures Gylfi Sigurdsson and Yakubu Aiyegbeni the main course of this week’s Flutter, it’s sure to be a feeding frenzy of rich returns.

The Yak is back. Whilst serving his three-match ban for a red card against Fulham, Yakubu’s Blackburn have slipped from their manager-saving form, topped off by a trouncing by Arsenal last weekend. Seemingly a talisman for the Kean revival, the sorely-missed striker will be essential to their tactics against visiting QPR on Saturday. Paddy have priced up a goal and a win at 5/2 and a brace at 9/1 . Both are tempting, but £2 on the former opens our account for another game-week.

Gylfi Sigurdsson has been around a bit since his early loan spells at Shrewsbury and Crewe. A 16-goal season for Reading and subsequent sale to Hoffenheim have cultured the 22 year old into a real creative force for the Swansea midfield. A pound at 20/1 for him to score and assist against visiting Norwich is a long price and a bit of a risk, but one worth taking since he performed the same feat against West Brom last week on the road.

Clint Dempsey has been the mainstay for Fantasy line-ups for many seasons now, always commanding a decent performance to Fantasy point conversion. Not a cheap prospect, but neither the lavish cost of Silva or Nani, Dempsey’s price of 8.9 is likely to continue to rise with favourable home and away fixtures coming up. A visit from Stoke may well be one of the tougher clashes of the next few, but Paddy’s offering of 5/2 on a Dempsey goal and a Fulham win is not short on confidence. A £4 stake here should bring home £14; a decent wager considering suspended Robert Huth will only be able to track Dempsey’s runs from the sidelines.

Last week’s ‘Who Will Score the Most’ market turned in a respectable 5 goals, and although our pick Demba Ba was among those on the score sheet, Robin van Persie’s battering of Blackburn left us empty handed. This week Rooney, RVP and Aguero are in the mix, but perhaps facing off against tougher competition. Aguero at 15/8 is the longest price of the trio as City travel to Villa, but with only a couple of quid left from our tenner bank roll, it might be a risk worth taking.

Money Back Special

All eyes will be on Old Trafford for the early Gameweek 25 kick-off between Man United and Liverpool tomorrow lunchtime. No surprise, then, to see Paddy focus on this one for this week’s Money Back Special. If Luis Suarez scores a goal at any point in the match, Paddy Power will refund all losing 1st /last goalscorer, correct score & scorecast singles. Paddy have also turned their attentions to this weekend’s Six Nations Rugby. If a number 11 scores the first try in the Italy v England, France v Ireland or Wales v Scotland clashes, Paddy Power will refund all losing try scorer bets on that match.

If you’re new to this betting lark and new to Paddy Power then you can take up any of these odds and offers and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

    Hello Folks,

I am thinking about taking a 4 point hit on RVP to Yakubu.
I already have aguero and zamora.

    My reasons:

    1) Tough fixtures to follow
    2) Sunderland team in momentum
    3) Martin O'Neil keeping it tight at back
    4) RVP will be substituted for the UCL game, plus he is thr main player so Wenger wont take a chance, he needs fit RVP
    5) Yakubu easy fixture, QPR away from home awful.
    6) Blackburn scores big at home, Yakubu can potentially score 2-3 goals.
    7) I am planning to sell RVP next week anyway, y not this week
    8) I am leading my league by 23 points so i can afford that 4 point hit

    What do you guys say?

    Thanks

not a very good idea. Sunderland played mid weak will be tired. Wenger knows sunderland could be tough so wont risk not playing RVP. Yakubu not played for a long time and would need to score 2 to and RVP none to make it worth your while. Just NO

Swansea and Fulham are 3rd anbd 4th in the clean sheet odds (only City and Spurs are higher). Depends on whether you think Verm will get attacking returns, I guess. I suspect (as is easy, it often happens to me too) you are being led by his price tag.

    Kompany, Evans, taiwo, Kelly, Simpson..

Have a FT and my def is shite cos got rid of BAE on my WC.. Don’t ask.. Still kickin myself..

Thinking taiwo for either king (want a spurs def and he’s good albeit injury prone and can afford him) or Cahill (Chelsea’s got good fixtures but dunno if he’ll get a guernsey)

Or should I just save the FT?

      Bale all the way.
      1) Newcastle have allowed the 2nd most shots in the league the least 4 games(1 worse than wolves)
      2) Newcastle without tiote, cabaye, raylor in the mid...leaves them exposed
      3) Simpson a liability and bale will tear him to shreds

**Stoke vs Fulham encounters were a 1-goal game either way the last 6 meetings**

Newcastle have been horrid away in their last 4, and seemed very poor vs. a not-so-great villa attack last weekend.

6 of Bale's last 8 home games have been double digits.

Up to you though... RVP up against a very stubborn Sunderland side that may park the bus for the draw, having kept 3 cleanies in a row..

22 goals and 8 assists in 80 minutes less than 10 goals and 4 assits.
Yes RVP is away against the hottest team in the epl. Newcastle had a great home defensive record until chelsea went in and won 3-0. It happens - Arsenals big goal games come in streaks - with ox in the team it brings that added dimension, a dimension that was lost when Gervinho went away. RVP is involved in most arsenal goals. Sunderland tired defence will have ox and walcott and whoever else taking them on - can easily see at least one pk coming rvps way in this one. Perhaps a turner RC.
RVP rested - no chance - after CL he will get time to rest. The game for him to start on the bench will be the FA cup. With Gibbs back, will be just another player to service rvp.
Dempsey can score a goal and that wouldnt be a surprise, but I also wouldnt be surprised if he didnt score any.

If Demsey scores and RVP scores you are break even. RVP is starting and so will score points.
People saying his goals vs blackburn were sitters. Thats what he makes it look like because he is always in the best position. A tired RVP will still be well positioned to score. Arsenal have more threats than Fulham. Stoke will single out Dempsey. Sunderland cannot afford to single out RVP.
      Easy choice for me
if I had Bale then that would be a tough call.

Excellent! So who is your captain recommendation? I am currently stuck on RVP, but very tempted by Dempsey. But wondering why I am tempted away from a man in form playing against a side that played 120 mins midweek.

See below. My reasoning is Rvp could not clean up for me 2 weeks ago vs a bad bolton...MON will hopefully do his magic and restrict ROBIN to a 2 pts.

No probs. Switching between Demps & Bale at the moment...I'm def not going Rvp.

I will prob regret it for the 3rd week in a row...a blank vs Bolton..then not (C) him last week and again this week...

oh well...I feel a "Katiegate" coming up...the season is really not keeping me interested anymore.

I don't know what a Double-Dead-Zoner is, I just made it up, but it sounds good.

I still haven't got the hang of this H2H thing at all but I seem to have been winning by the skin of my teeth recently, so it's OK I suppose. I'm playing Doosra's Wacky Gang this week which should be a laugh - he's probably got Reo-Coker, Song and Adebayor or something similar. And he'll probably win.
