Richard Dunne is out for a couple of months for Villa. Roberto Mancini hints at a return for Carlos Tevez. Thomas Vermaelen is frustrated at left-back, Harry Redknapp sings the praises of Louis Saha, while an angry Owen Coyle promises changes to the Bolton first XI for the trip to Chelsea:

Richard Dunne has been ruled out for up to eight weeks for Aston Villa. The centre-half fractured his collarbone after falling awkwardly in yesterday’s 1-0 defeat by City and is due to undergo an operation today. Dunne has played every minute of the season so far for the midlands outfit and his loss will be a significant one for Alex McLeish. It’s likely to afford Carlos Cuellar a chance alongside James Collins in the heart of the back-four; the Spaniard filled in for Collins recently but moved to left-back against City upon the Welshman’s return.

McLeish received more bad news on the injury front, when it was revealed Ciaran Clark has been sidelined for up to a month after twisting his left knee in training. The Villa boss will be able to call on the services of Chris Herd for the Gameweek 26 clash with Wigan- the club confirmed today he has returned to full training and will be available for the Latics game.

Steve Kean has revealed Chris Samba will miss out on Blackburn’s reserve game with Wigan this evening. Although scans have revealed the Rovers skipper has not suffered a tear on his injured hamstring, he won’t be risked and will instead focus on returning to full training. Given Samba’s recent problems with the club, he may it difficult to come straight back into the first-team for the Gameweek 26 match with City, after Kean described the displays of central defensive duo Scott Dann and Grant Hanley against QPR as “exceptionalâ€.

Wolves’ decision to sack Mick McCarthy may see a first-team shake-up. McCarthy has been mainly playing a 4-5-1, with Steven Fletcher as a lone striker, but the likes of Kevin Doyle could come back into the equation if a new manager opts for two up front. Given that they have failed to return a clean sheet since Gameweek 3, it’s obvious that problems at the back need immediate address, too.

Thomas Vermaelen has admitted he is becoming frustrated at playing left-back for Arsenal. The Belgian has been filling in due to the absence of Kieran Gibbs and Andre Santos, with Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny fielded at centre-half for the Gunners. According to the People, Vermaelen has said:

I am fed up playing at left-back. I don’t think I am good there – I want to achieve my highest level and I can’t do that on the left. I play there to help the team but it gives me no satisfaction as I can’t reach my best standard. I do my job but seldom feel content after matches. If the team wins I am happy, but it remains frustrating.

Harry Redknapp has talked up the potential of Louis Saha, after the Frenchman’s explosive home debut at the weekend. The former Everton man grabbed 2 goals and an assist and, with 2 bonus points thrown in, returned 15 points for his 2% of Fantasy owners. Saha’s injury history will always make him no more than a Fantasy gamble but, with his new boss clearly delighted with his impact, could be set for more game time than perhaps anticipated. With Emmanuel Adebayor pretty much nailed-on and Rafael Van der Vaart tending to start when fit, Redknapp’s praise perhaps not quite what the likes of Jermain Defoe would want to hear.

Roberto Mancini yesterday admitted he could yet turn to the talents of Carlos Tevez as City attempt to solidify their lead at the top of the table. With just thirteen games remaining, Mancini’s side have a two-point advantage over United but have been reliant on their home form to boost their title bid. Despite a 100% home record, they have faltered on the road over the last couple of months and, with just 2 wins and 4 goals in their last seven away games, an upturn in attacking performances looks essential if they are to take the title.

A possible Tevez return, then, in addition to Mario Balotelli’s availability after a four-match ban, may lessen the appeal of the likes of Sergio Aguero- many have earmarked the latter as potential captaincy material for the next two gameweeks (BLA, BOL). However, in a translated interview on twitter earlier this afternoon, Tevez didn’t seem too friendly when talking about Mancini and with the City boss expecting an apology before he considers allowing the player to return, it’s perhaps too early to suggest he will definitely play a part.

Owen Coyle has defended his decision to revert to a 4-4-2 formation against Wigan last weekend. The Trotters boss has tended to field a 4-5-1 but, a return to the system that won away to the Latics in Gameweek 8, with Kevin Davies re-installed to the starting line-up for the first time in nine matches, saw them downed 2-1 at the Reebok. A furious Coyle revealed post-match that changes will now be made for the Gameweek 26 trip to Chelsea, saying:

It’s individual errors that have cost us, and nothing else. Coming off the back of a poor defensive display last week, it has happened again, but I have got enough personnel now to make changes and that’s what is going to happen. I’m not going to sit through that again.

Starting Xl you mean. He has definitely staked his claim. But he will definitely be sharing match time with Defoe and VDV when Arry plays one behind the striker. Ade will definitely be leading the line for the rest of the season.

Would be surprised if Ade got dropped so he'll be rotated with VdV and Defoe but may well get a little run if VdV stays injured.

Given that the next matchday is spread over 4 different days does that mean you can change your captaincy 4 times within that gameweek??

Wish I knew, the rules seem to allow it, but I could be very WRONG here.

After all matches on a single day have finished and before the next matches start, you can:

1: Replace any player who wasn't sent off, with one from your bench whose team is yet to play.

2: Change your captain if he wasn't sent off, with a player from your squad whose team is yet to play.

Wow. My cousin works for Standard Chartered and words going round that they want Suarez out in the summer or will stop their sponsorship, as they do not want 'racist' players representing them. Well as a Liverpool fan that is just stupid. Suarez should of ended matters with the handshake but apologised so fair enough. Standard Chartered should realise that Suarez is all we really have to give us hope for top 4 next season.

Perhaps you're forgetting the other ~119 days of silliness on Suarez' part.

However, as sponsors they can *ask* for anything. Either 'Pool will conform or find another sponsor. I can't see them dropping him on SC's say-so, though. Tail wagging the dog.

What's his goalscoring record now, 2 in 13 games? Not 'phenomenal'.

And, he's a despicable puke who made your club look quite bad as he put himself above club, supporters, and teammates.

The club took a stance to support him (and still do about the "racist insults") and I can see how and why they would do that, if they feel they know him and his views. The recent handshake patheticness is too much though. Suarez went back on his word to club and manager... he should be out imho.

I think KD has acted properly throughout this. He supported his player who he obviously thinks isn't a racist or made racist comments despite what the FA have ruled. There is nothing unusualyl in this.

I hope KD comes down on Saurez like a ton of bricks now. Unfortunately, Pool aren't in the City position whereby they can just bench Suarez like Tevez has been. I disagree with them still playing him, or, at least, he should get a massive fine but it's now business ðŸ™

The t-shirts... the club backed Suarez and showed that backing in a crass way. A mistake which backfired.

What I don't accept is that Pool are in anyway more racist than any other club, not that any club should be racist in any way. Yes, there's been a lot of mistakes recently but I don't believe any club is is institutionally racist these days.

No-one has said that 'Pool is more racist ...

We are all just appalled at Dalglish and his antics.

I will confess to never being a fan - I believe he was/is hugely overrated by the Scottish Mafia. Still, he has lost any residual respect lingering from Hillsborough over this affair.

You can love the child but not their behavior. KD could have supported his player, upheld 'Pool's integrity, and preserved his own dignity.

Instead, he printed up t-shirts that made light of a very serious charge - one that he was 'convicted' of. KD has never asked his player to take responsibility for this - even Suarez' most recent "apology" doesn't mention Evra. And KD's lies - lies - about not knowing what happened at the beginning of the game are just embarrassing.

'Pool will toss Suarez to the wolves to conceal their own complicity in this mess. Nice.

I am sure that, at the time, KD, like me, thought the allegations ridiculous and thus ridiculed them. That was a big mistake.

I don't believe this "lies" accusation and believe that Suarez just totally f*cked up.

So, you're manager - with the biggest bombshell disciplinary issue (bigger than Tevez, I'd say), with his biggest player, in one of their biggest matchups, against the 'victim' of the charge at the 'victims' home turf, when he (KD) made sure to get an explicit answer as to the handshake, etc. - when the players line up he just "doesn't see it" ... ?

                    Arsene Wenger would be proud.

If KD actually didn't see it, it was because he made sure *NOT* to see it for plausible deniability. So: KD's statement is either an outright lie or one of omission.

Can't agree with you there i'm afraid GF. Liverpools handling of the whole situation has received, and correctly in my opinion a negative reaction from both the public and the media. Tor a business, who already sponsor the club financially to also risk a loss of business have to protect their primary interest. Remember your cousin and all they employ depend on them for a living.

Diakte if he works out will be massive. A proper defensive midfielder will make a massive difference Plus he has the FA cup break to settle in, for some reason the break might be a very good thing.. Time to train plus a rest, I think they will treat in as a fresh start.

'he apologised so fair enough'...... Mmm, did the fact that the dictum in the 'apologies' by suarez and dalglish not strike a similarity to that of the press release by the Liverpool owners.
