Roberto Mancini admits Carlos Tevez will be considered for selection once again. Juan Mata is fit for Chelsea’s game with Bolton. Martin Jol receives an injury boost ahead of the derby with QPR, Tony Pulis leaves behind some key players for Stoke’s trip to Valencia, while Emmanuel Adebayor offers further indication he is ready to return against Arsenal:

Roberto Mancini confirmed for the first time yesterday that Carlos Tevez has every chance of playing for Man City again. Speaking after City’s Europa League thrashing of Porto, the Italian –on the back of Tevez’s recent public apology- has admitted he has no qualms over fielding the Argentine during the remainder of the season, once Tevez is back to full fitness. Mancini’s words will concern Fantasy owners of the likes of Sergio Aguero in particular; with Tevez back in the frame, the City frontline could be nigh-on impossible to predict and with Tevez the only forward unavailable for European duties, his chances of game time in the league look favourable:

I accept his apology, I don’t have any problem. Tomorrow I will meet him before training and after that he can begin to work with us. He needs maybe two or three weeks to find a good form and after that he will be OK. He can play. Like the other players. I think that it will be good if he can help us to do a good job in the next two months. Carlos can’t play in the Europa League but we can have four strikers in the Premier League and that is very good. If we get through in Europe I think it will be important to have four strikers.

Andre Villas-Boas confirmed this afternoon that Juan Mata is fit for the weekend clash with Bolton. The Spaniard broke a finger in the midweek defeat at Napoli but is available for the Stamford Bridge showdown. Jose Bosingwa is out with a muscle injury, though, meaning Gary Cahill is likely to continue in the centre of the back-four, with Branislav Ivanovic filling in at right-back. Fernando Torres missed training today with an illness but is expected back tomorrow, while the Chelsea boss went on to reveal John Terry is out for 5-6 weeks, though hopes his skipper may return sooner.

Bolton’s Mark Davies has a slight hamstring strain for the Chelsea game but is expected to be available. Owen Coyle also admitted Kevin Davies is still struggling to be fit after tweaking medial knee ligaments- the Trotters will assess their skipper tomorrow before making any decision. Joe Riley missed a reserve game in midweek due to a bruised foot and will also be monitored ahead of the Stamford Bridge clash.

Martin Jol received some positive injury news ahead of Fulham’s derby with QPR. Philippe Senderos is available after recovering from a groin problem, while Orlando Sa and Andrew Johnson will both offer options up front. Jol also revealed Pavel Pogrebnyak has shrugged off a foot injury and is fit and available for selection, after being subbed off in the Gameweek 25 win over Stoke with the problem. The Cottagers have almost a clean bill of health, with Steve Sidwell and Zdenek Grygera the only absentees for the Loftus Road showdown.

Tony Pulis has left behind a number of key figures for Stoke’s Europa League trip to Valencia. With the Potters 1-0 down from the first leg, their manager’s decision to rest the likes of Ryan Shawcross, Peter Crouch and Jon Walters may have raised many an eyebrow, but it’s good news for Fantasy managers ahead of the home clash against Swansea on Sunday, as Pulis looks to address a slump that has seen his side beaten in each of the last four gameweeks:

There have been one or two players who have looked tired just recently. We take a great deal of notice every week of Prozone stats and there are one or two whose monitor is showing empty, so they need a breather. We also have a couple of injuries and knocks we are concerned about and it is important to get them right with the games we have coming up.

The Mirror has suggested Sebastien Squillaci and Francis Coquelin – who both limped out of the FA Cup defeat at Sunderland- will miss out this weekend, as Arsenal prepare to face Spurs on Sunday. As the defensive worries pile up for Arsene Wenger, Carl Jenkinson has made a successful comeback in the Gunners reserves. The youngster hasn’t played since Gameweek 11 due to a back problem but managed 45 minutes on Tuesday evening. Aaron Ramsey is believed to be a doubt, after being subbed off with an ankle knock at the Stadium of Light, while Marouane Chamakh is struggling to overcome a toe problem.

Emmanuel Adebayor offered further indication of his imminent return from a knee problem yesterday. The Tottenham forward – who missed the weekend FA Cup draw at Stevenage- revealed via twitter that he is back in full training ahead of the trip to former club Arsenal on Sunday:

Good training session today. Knee is feeling better. Really enjoy it today.

As reported yesterday, Wayne Rooney is out of this evening’s Europa League clash with Ajax due to a throat infection. The forward has been suffering from the problem for a week, with Sir Alex Ferguson hopeful he will be fit for the trip to Norwich. Dimitar Berbatov has recovered from a knock, though, and is available to start against the Dutch side, while Ferguson also revealed he is planning to afford Tom Cleverley the full 90 minutes. United’s midfield received a further boost with the news that Anderson is back training with the first-team- the Brazilian has played only two times since Gameweek 9, with a knee injury curtailing much of his season.

Martin O’Neill has admitted Nicklas Bendtner is in contention for Sunderland this Saturday. The Black Cats travel to West Brom on the back of last weekend’s FA Cup win over Arsenal – a game Bendtner was unavailable for due to the loan deal with his parent club. O’Neill has seen Fraizer Campbell team up successfully with Stephane Sessegnon since the Dane limped out of the Gameweek 22 match at Swansea with facial injuries and, given Campbell’s eye-catching displays, a place on the bench may be as good as Bendtner is likely to muster at the Hawthorns.

Whose gametime is most at risk from Tevez?
    A) Aguero
    B) Balotelli
    C) Dzeko
    D) Jordy Hiwula, top scorer for Man City reserves

Yeah interesting that, I reckon A too, yet there seems to be quite a lot of doubt about it.
I don't think he's an out and out center forward like Balo and Dzeko, can see him taking Aguero's time.

      Arsenal defensive problems against Spurs:
      Mertesacker, Santos out
      Koscielny, Squillaci, Coquelin doubtful

      Probable lineup
      Gibbs Verm Djourou Sagna

Djourou is dodgy defensively, have to say Verm's positioning isn't the greatest, Sagna didn't look to clever in recent matches, Gibbs hasn't had much gametime, Arsenal central midfield hasn't been covering them either (they were awful against Milan and Sunderland). Ramsey doubtful too - although this may be a blessing.

As a Gooner I can assure you Spurs will run riot, don't miss out on the Bale.

I can not see Wenger starting Walcott and Sagna on the same side again with Bale out there...that would be a death wish. I'm guessing Yennaris has to start somewhere...he looked more than capable against Nani.

I can't recall much of Yennaris, mentally I think I may have unjustly lumped him in with the rest of our scarily inexperienced youth invasion - Coquelin, Miquel, Jenkinson, aaaaaaaaarrrrrghhh..... but yes, Walcott and Sagna are defensively unsound at this point in time and Bale would rip them to shreds.

If Wenger agrees with you on Yennaris he'll come in I guess

CB isn't the biggest problem, it is LB and RB they (Sagna & Gibbs) have no agility to take on or even be dynamic. Sagna is a shade of his former slightly overrated self. Song can play CB for Kos (if need be) and Yennaris looked more capable than either of our fullbacks.

What it should be...If Wenger had sense:

        ------------------------------Szczesny
        (Sagna/Yennaris)-(Djourou/Song)-Vermaelen-Gibbs
        ----------------Song/Yennaris----Oxlade
        -----------------------------Arteta
        -------------------Walcott------Gervinho
        ----------------------------RVP

At this point you've got to play AOC in place of Rosicky and especially Ramsey who is horrible...sorry folks. We've got to have a ball winner and possession player that can take pressure off of Arteta and allow him further up the pitch.

Defensive 4-3-3 basically - yep Rosicky, Ramsey and Arshavin should stay away from the team, seem to specialize in doing bugger all. I'd swap Ox and Arteta there. If Wilshere came back it would make all the difference. With current personnel we are buggered no matter what formation we play IMO. Playmakers sold.

Yes, as Arteta seems to be in over his head in his current position, but I chalked that up to running around like a chicken with his head cut off at times. and not really providing any support for him. afraid to dip in the hole and take on anyone. And when Rosicky does it...no one seems to be on the same page. Also Rosicky doesn't know when to take the foot off the gas of his old Porsche and get off on the right exit.

Europa League Group B Match Day 1 Preview:

      Hannover 96’ (Sarnab-Wazzagoal) VS Standard Liege (Duffman91)

Group B kicks off with the 3rd seed Sarnab taking on myself, the group’s 2nd seed. Sarnab currently sits at 173,691st place in the world and is in fine form entering the competition, with 8 green arrows gained in the last 9 gameweek’s. I’ve been in more mixed form as of late dropping from 47,488th to my current rank 90,173rd in the last 5 gameweek’s. This already looks like a close match-up on paper with many of the same players in both team’s and Sarnab’s 4 point advantage going into the tie could well prove crucial.

      Team News:

Hannover 96’ – Djibril Cisse remains’ suspended but with 1 transfer already made I’d be willing to bet he’s been replaced, most likely for Demba Ba. Sarnab will also be sweating on the availability of Micah Richards after he appeared to pick up a knock in Man City’s Europa League tie with Porto, but after continuing to play for the full 90 minutes, he should feature.

Standard Liege – With Robert Huth suspended and Antonio Valencia out injured for 4 weeks a transfer is likely to be made. If not then Nathan Dyer and Stephen Kelly/ Steven Caulker will feature. Ryan Taylor has returned to full training after recovering from an ankle injury and may take his place in Newcastle’s midfield for their tie with Wolves.

      Predicted Line-ups:

Hannover 96’ - Krul Richards Evans Simpson Silva Bale Dempsey Sessegnon RVP Aguero Ba

Standard Liege – Sorenson Kompany Taylor Caulker Silva Bale Sessegnon Dyer RVP Aguero Ba

      Key Differential:

Hannover 96’ – With an apt team name of ‘Captain America’, Sarnab will be looking to Clint Dempsey to produce the goods when Fulham travel to QPR this weekend.

Standard Liege – I’ll be hoping that everyone’s favourite defender Ryan Taylor is re-instated to the Newcastle team, and with corner and free-kick duties in the bag, can deal some damage to the hapless Wolves.

Kobenhavn (Milanista) VS Vorskla Poltava (transferaddict)
The group’s favourite and 4th seed for the whole competition, Milanista, take’s on the group’s 4th seed and rank outsider, transferaddict. Milanista has been having a fine season and was ranked in the top 10K manager’s for 11 weeks until dropping to his current rank of 12,405th last gameweek. However, there may be signs of his favourite tag getting to him as he was recently considering transferring in Aleksander Kolarov. transferaddict’s season has been somewhat disastrous with his policy of huge point hit’s leading to his current rank of 527,039th. However he has recently managed to rise from a rank of over 1 million to his current rank so there are signs of a recovery in his season and he will relish the task of toppling one of the competition favourites. But he will enter into this tie at a 4 point disadvantage making the task all the more difficult.

      Team News:

Kobenhavn – Milanista is another manager hoping that Micah Richards features for City this week, particularly as his defence consists of Jose Enrique who has a blank fixture this week and Ryan Shotton who has recently been out of favour at Stoke. Juan Mata is also reported to have broken a finger in Chelsea’s Champions League tie with Napoli but will be expected to feature.

Vorskla Poltava – transferaddict is a fellow owner of Antonio Valencia and may decide to transfer him out, or otherwise play the superb James McClean away to West Brom.

      Predicted line-ups:

Kobenhavn – Krul Richards Taiwo Kelly Silva Mata Bale Dempsey RVP Aguero Ba

Vorskla Poltava – Vorm Kompany Evans Williamson Silva Bale Dempsey McClean RVP Aguero Ba

      Key Differential:

Kobenhavn – Milanista will be hoping the brilliant Juan Mata will continue with his excellent home form when Chelsea take on Bolton at Stamford Bridge.

Vorskla Poltava – transferaddict may look to play James McClean if he doesn’t bring in a replacement for Antonia Valencia, and this could be a wise move as high flying Sunderland travel to West Brom who have been atrocious when playing at home this season. It’s worth noting that Milanista also has McClean in his squad but won’t be expected to play with a midfield of Silva Mata Dempsey and Bale.

      A. Play Graham+keep Valencia(in bench)+save 1 FT for the looming DgWks

      Dempsey: QPR (a)
      or
      Walters: Swansea (h)

I could make such a strong case for and against Walters at the moment.
Not so much to go on with Dempsey.

      Ok back to Valencia picks

I've got a shortlist of three, anyone care to share their thoughts. ( I already have Demp, Sess, Bale, Silva)

      1. Mata -He is very likely to score this week, and game week 28, but is terrible away. ...the short term pick.

      2. Nani - could be rusty, could be a great source of points if he can recapture early season form amid Man Utd great fixtures...the long term pick

      3. YaYa - superb pick over the next two games....makes up for not having Aguero as either he or silva are likely to assist any Man City goals. Leaves me with a choice gwk 28 though...do I ditch Silva or him for Rooney and a cheap mid. ...the conundrum pick.

I have lost faith in Chelsea, but if anyone does well from their team it should be Mata.
As for Nani, wait till he starts resembling his early season form, before you think about him.
Yaya has you mentioned in your article is a steal for 7.5, and the player I would go for.

Form over fixtures for me in this case.

See how Nani does tonight - if he starts plays very well for 60 minutes and nabs a goal/assist then he could be a great pick. If he plays the 90 or looks rubbish not so much.

Also with Mata being terrible away WBA are terrible at home - might balance it out and mean you could grab a 5 pointer out of him.

You're banking on City scoring well in the next two and plenty of goals and assists to go round? Looks pretty likely to me - Yaya could be a good pick. It all depends what role he plays though. He can drop really deep and have no fantasy impact on a game. If he's in attacking beast mode (Which looks probable given the fixtures) he could be a great shout.

            I'd probably pick Yaya.

This is the team I plan on having for gw 29, this is based on Everton and Liverpool game joining gw29:

      Sorensen,Vorm
      Jose Enrique,Evans J,Simpson,Senderos,Caulker
      Silva,Sigurdsson,Bale,Dempsey,Moses
      Rooney,Van Persie,Ba

      4.7 in bank.

I'll be able to field 11 and I think we can all agree that I'm not "knackering" my team to achieve this. IE it's entirely possible.

My transfers afterwards will be 2 tottenham players in, probably for Caulker and Vorm/Sorenson.

Don't use fractional odds but I think that's 2/1 - based on the logic that evens (1/1) would be 2.0. Experts correct me if I'm wrong

Worried about lack of Aguero for the next two; is it worth a hit to bring him in for Dzeko or shall I just hold onto Dzeko for the next two? Aguero is an obvious captain choice whereas Dzeko's too risky to captain.

Depends if you can field 3 defs without the hit. If you can't then it's prob worth it, especially if it's for one with attacking threat and a decent fixture, like Raylor and Cahill this week.

Would go Raylor myself just for the OOP but also depends if you're going to be playing another toon def.

4 weeks is too long to plan for, especially when there are a few fixtures to be rearranged. Do it one week at a time and save an extra transfer between now and GW29 if possible. If no injuries you shouldn't need to make any transfers this week or next.

See if Rooney is fit(You should get to know by Saturday) and RVP may not have a game in GW 29, then RVP -> Rooney now or next week then in GW 27/28 Kun->Someone who has a game in GW 29 and then to RVP in GW 30. You might have to take a hit or two and gamble but that's necessary , I would also go for Silva ->Nani in Gw 28 if Silva's game is cancelled, else some other mid like dempsey for nani in Gw 28. You'll have to really watch out for GW 29 and it's consequent DGW because those are the two weeks you can really catch up.

Interesting, when should we know roughly about the fixtures for GW 29?

Who would you suggest to chenge in terms of my three defenders - Huth, Simpson, Caulker? I know it's difficult to say as DGW means a lot and getting a solid defender might pay off big time. Surely a Liverpool defender should have a DGW? Getting him is a must for me?

Guys who do I bench from this front 8 ?

      Silva, Bale, Dempsey, Sess, McClean
      Rvp, Aguero, Zamora

McClean is giving me only headaches, I've benched him 3 out of 4 times since i bought him and you probably know how that turned out for me. I really want to play him this time but who do I bench then ? Was thinking Bale, but then again that was a week ago, when arsenal looked at least kind of solid. Do I bench Dempsey maybe? He's not that dangerous away from home right ? Any Ideas appreciated, thanks

Play Zamora. Players ALWAYS score against their former clubs*. If there's a 'gentlemens agreement' then McClean will come in as first sub.

Picking defenders for this weekend is not easy.

At the moment I have: Kompany - Evans - Taiwo starting and Simpson & Senderos as sub..

Am I right or wrong? 😕

Yes, I have trouble deciding between Simpson and Taiwo. The reason I've put Taiwo is he's ability to get forward. And 2 assists in 3 games is not bad.. Hmmm

I'm currently on Richards, Evans, Santon with Taiwo benched. Unsure whether to play Evans or Taiwo but I'll certainly be playing Santon; Newcastle often good for a CS at home.

Do you think Evans is a better bet than both of those this week then?

      clishy > evans

      valencia >sigurdsson

      odemwingie > aguero

for a 8 point hit for this gameweek? I am 40 points ahead of number 2, dont want to use my WC just yet.

      any comments?

I think aguero would bring a lot of points in these two next home games. he sucks away, but is amazing at home!
