This morning has seen a couple of fixtures, which were previously affected by FA Cup and Carling Cup schedules, afforded new dates that will have significant bearing on Fantasy managers’ thinking.

Following on from last night’s rescheduling of the Villa v Bolton match to Gameweek 29, Everton have this morning confirmed their Merseyside derby with Liverpool has been switched to Tuesday March 13.

The game was originally set to take place in Gameweek 26 but was cancelled due to Liverpool’s Carling Cup Final with Cardiff- it will now be played in Gameweek 28, affording both Merseyside clubs the opportunity of a double Gameweek.

Liverpool now have (sun, EVE) on the agenda, while David Moyes’ side face (TOT, liv). Tricky fixtures for both sides, no doubt, but Fantasy managers will be keen to get in on the action. With Sergio Aguero facing a trip to Swansea, his dire away form may see the Argentine shipped out for Luis Suarez as frontlines are re-adjusted on the back of this morning’s announcement. Liverpool’s fixtures look particularly enticing from Gameweek 30 onwards, and many Fantasy managers may bring forward their plans a little earlier than anticipated now.

The likes of Leighton Baines will no doubt find himself the subject of investment, too, with the Toffees current five-match unbeaten run indicative of an upturn in performance which has seen them defeat both City and Chelsea, while recording clean sheets in both games. It’s also worth noting that Steven Pienaar will be unavailable for the Spurs game, due to the conditions of his loan deal, leaving the South African with just the trip to Anfield as his only option.

The downside is that, at present, both sides still have a blank Gameweek 29; Liverpool’s trip to QPR and Everton’s home clash with Arsenal have yet to be granted a new date. The fixture list is quickly being settled, though. Blackburn have also announced this morning that their home game with Sunderland has been set for Tuesday March 20, which falls into Gameweek 29.

At present, then, there are now only three games yet to be afforded a new date for that particular gameweek, though this could increase to four if Chelsea win their FA Cup replay with Birmingham. It’s clear, however, that our previous worries over Gameweek 29 are now being resolved, allowing Fantasy managers the chance to plan in advance once again.

I'm not going to get one DGW player. Liverpool always let me down so avoiding them like the plague, plus one of the games is against us so hope must keep quiet then anyway.

I've kept Enrique all this time (rather than BAE, shocking decision in hindsight) so will be sticking with him/upgrading to Skrtel.

Won't be having any other Liverpool cover though.

Skirtel would be the one I'd want and prob would have got him if hadn't already kneejerked and did richards > lescott earlier this week. If I don't bring him in for the DGW, he'll definately be in GW30 onwards.

Assuming all the GW29 postponed games get rescheduled within the same GW, how's this (rather high risk) team looking for a GW28 WC?

im just keeping ba until gwk30 then switch to adebayor

          my current plan is

          howard, mignolet
          enrique, skrtel, jevans, kelly, mcauley
          gerrard, valencia, sess, andrews, moses
          rvp, rooney, ba

howard switches to schwarzer after the double (hoping for a few save points)

Hmm, interesting. Not sure about Howard - wasting a transfer on a GK isn't ideal at this late stage of the season. Doubling on LIV defence could be a good idea though. Don't fancy a bit of an on form Walcott for NEW, eve, AVL, qpr?

true but with the team i would have id have no pressing transfers the following cpl of weeks barring injuries so i can chance it, could always keep him if injuries happen

Looks good for GW28, but there's a few there I wouldn't want for the rest of the season - Hibbert, Gerrard, Walcott, Suarez. Would almost need a second wildcard in GW29/30 to get Spurs and City players back in.

Yep, understand that. Not sure if this is good reasoning, but here goes...

Hibbert - fairly cheap so I don't mind him being on the bench most weeks.
Gerrard & Walcott - great short term fixtures, and an easy trade to Bale/Silva when TOT/MCY fixtures improve
Suarez -> great short term fixtures and an easy trade to Adebayor when TOT fixtures improve

I'm not sure Hibbert will score enough in the DGW to make him worthwhile over a 4.0 bench fodder.

The others are fair shouts, it's just 3 transfers you'd need to make.

I'm also struggling with selling Dempsey before his GW29 game and Kompany at all.

I'm 99% certain he won't get back in, unless it is for a simple rotation, as De Gea has done well and seems to have stepped it up a notch. Just can't see SAF dropping him again at this point of the run in.

    Senderos ➡ Skrtel
    Aguero ➡ Rooney
    Bale ➡ Charlie Adam

Transfers before GW28, will cost 4 pt.

Have a big lead in my ML, it might be fun to play Adam (especially if they will play also GW29), Skrtel and Rooney will be season keepers.

He literally gets a player in after they've been on form for 2 weeks. In previous seasons it's not been about chasing last weeks points, this season it certainly seems like that's the best way to do well.

Same here. 2 frees and a wildcard this week and no idea what to do with either. Lost a freebie last week because I had nothing to do.

Others in my minileague will probably take a 12 point hit the night before the DGW when they realise, and still do better than me when Ryan Taylor saves a pen.

Yup. On paper it looks like i have a better team than my rival every single week and any betting man in the world would put money on my team scoring higher. Of course it doesn't happen though because the week they randomly choose to double up on the QPR defence with a tough away fixture is the week they get a clean sheet and the defenders score all the goals whilst a doubling up on Man United defence at home to Wigan of course means they'll concede.

I will have Skrtel / G.Johnson / Baines and Suarez for the DGW. I already have Skrtel / G.Johnson & Baines was coming into my team in the next few weeks anyway. So the only unplanned change I will make is Aguero (swa) to Suarez. Liverpool have decent fixtures afterwards (inc QPR which is almost certain to take place in GW 29 but midweek) so I may let Suarez stay in for a few weeks anyway.

Current state of play for GW28/29 (I think):

    GW28
    ---------
Full set of matches at the weekend
    + Liverpool/Everton (Tuesday 13 March)

    GW29
    ---------
    Fulham v Swansea
    Wigan v WBA
    Wolves v Man Utd
    Newcastle v Norwich
Villa v Bolton (Tue 20 March)
Blackburn v Sunderland (Tue 20 March)

    Still uncertain
    -------------------
    Man City v Chelsea
(= dependent on Chelsea cup replay against Birmingham on March 6. If Chelsea lose, match is played as normal on weekend of GW29. If Chelsea win, league match needs to be re-scheduled)

    Yet to be re-scheduled
    --------------------------------
    Everton v Arsenal
    QPR v Liverpool
    Tottenham v Stoke
(= Spurs have Cup replay against Stevenage on March 7, Stoke are still in Cup)

if Liverpool and Everton have a say in this , (and they do) .
They will be very reluctant to let their games played on the 20th of March ( GW29)
this simply means they will have to play 4 PL games and an FA cup quarter final in 15 days.
      That's a bit to much , isn't it ?

    Afternoon all.

Well I see the news on the rearranged Merseyside derby certainly seems to have put the cat amongst the pigeons! Suddenly our best laid transfer plans are all up in the air as we scramble to accommodate an assortment of scousers for their upcoming double gameweek.

After my initial excitement had passed, on reflection I don't think I will be going too crazy, the GW28 fixtures are not particularly appealing for either team and both may have a blank in 29. It was always in my plans to get a Liverpool defender in for the run in and that move will now have to brought forward in time for the double but aside from that, I probably don't really want any Everton players in my squad and Liverpool as an attacking force are still struggling, Sunday's Carling Cup final was yet another example of this.

Glen Johnson is the pick of the bunch for me but also the most expensive, struggling to decide if he is worth the extra cash over Enrique or Skrtel even, what do you folks think? If I was going to go with more than one Pool player I would probably double up on defenders as none of their attacking players fill me with any confidence. What say you?

Just realised how long this post has become, apologies!

Just what I was thinking Dexter, hence my question below. No one from either team stands out. I'd defo go Skrtel over Enrique (who I had earlier in the season) but even then.....

....which Bellemy was a regular, would go for him. Everton is in good form but selection /rotation makes it a mess to choose. Apart from Baines, but too expensive and CSs not a guarantee in those games...

Agreed, Bellamy would be my pick of the attacking players but don't think his knees are up to playing 90mins every week, let alone twice in one week!

Had a quick peak at Downing as he is relatively cheap and did look dangerous in the final on Sunday and could not believe my eyes, he doesn't have a single goal or even an assist to his name in PL this year! How is that even possible!!!! Think it is a defender only for me. Everton just a no go area for various reasons.

In La liga I think you have to have a release clause for every player. So to prevent their players leaving on the cheap, they put to ridiculously high vaues. Newcastle didnt put Ba's very high so any bids that reach it, have the right to contact Ba.

My team for GW 28 after a 4pt hit will be:

    Hart
    G.JOHNSON / SKRTEL / BAINES / Evans
    Bale / Mata / Surman
    Rooney / SUAREZ / Ba

    Mignolet / Dempsey / McClean / Santon

    Any thoughts?

      My only thoughts are:

You better have a wildcard in your pocket!

To be fair even before news of the DGW I was planning on having the same team in a few weeks apart from keeping Aguero and not having Suarez. G.Johnson / Skrtel / Baines are all long term transfers for me.

I don't think that I will be reading too much into this DGW personally, both have tricky fixtures especially Everton. I mean I wouldn't be looking at those games for rewards if they were 1 off gw's so why change the philosophy.

Same thoughts here, Hay number 2 I think I'm just going to ignore it, bad timing for it.

Agreed, mean maybe the odd punt is worth it but I won't be looking to cram 3 from each team or anything. I'll only have to get rid of them over a couple of GW's which in the long run may disrupt the flow!

I really was hoping for only 4 games in GW 29. I would be able to justify a 4pt hit or two and fix my team. Was anyone else thinking the same?

    Krul (Vorm)
    RICHARDS, Evans, Kelly (Simpson, Caulker)
    SILVA, Sess, Bale, Valencia (McClean)
    AGUERO, rvp, P.Cisse

2FT, 0.2 in bank, quick vote please (this is IF Chelsea beat Birmingham)

    A) GW27 Sess -> Pienaar GW28 Silva, Aguero & Richards -> Gerrard, Rooney & Enrique (4point hit)
    B) GW27 Vorm -> Mignolet GW28 Silva, Aguero & Richards -> Gerrard, Rooney & Skrtel (4 point hit)
    C) GW27 McClean -> Surman GW28 Silva, Aguero & Richards -> Gerrard, Rooney & Skrtel (4 point hit)
    D) Other

Probably thinking about too much, any help appreciated!
