Liverpool are likely to be without Daniel Agger for a month. John Terry is hopeful of a swift recovery after his knee operation. Michel Vorm is expected to return for Swansea this weekend, Chris Brunt could feature against Chelsea, while Wolves are sweating over three key players ahead of Sunday’s trip to Fulham:

Daniel Agger could be out for up to a month for Liverpool. X-rays have confirmed the centre-half sustained a cracked rib in the Carling Cup Final win over Cardiff on Sunday, meaning Agger is almost certain to miss the upcoming double gameweek for Kenny Dalglish’s side. Jamie Carragher is the likely deputy, given that Sebastian Coates has been afforded two starts since joining the club last summer. The Reds haven’t been as tight at the back with Carragher in the first XI, though; they have 3 clean sheets in the 10 games he started, compared to 7 in the other 15.

Glen Johnson, on the other hand, is expected to recover from the hamstring problem that forced the right-back to withdraw from the England squad yesterday. The injury is thought to be very minor, with Johnson’s decision to pull out of the game against Holland more a precautionary measure.

Reports this morning suggest that John Terry hopes to be back within a month after undergoing a knee operation. The Chelsea skipper had previously played through the pain barrier but eventually succumbed to surgery, after pulling out of last week’s training session prior to the Champions League game at Napoli. Terry, who has now missed Chelsea’s last four league games, explained:

The operation went well and I’m feeling really good. The surgeon has shaved off a bit of bone in my right knee that was rubbing and causing a lot of swelling. We’re all confident the operation has solved the problem and it is looking good for a quick return. The medical staff say four to six weeks before I can play again. But, hopefully, it might be sooner.

Darren Fletcher has ruled himself out of the remainder of the season. The United midfielder, currently sidelined with a chronic bowel condition, admitted that while he won’t feature again this term, he is trying every possible measure in order to continue his career:

I’m trying everything under the sun at the moment: diet, hypnotherapy. It’s a week-by-week situation so I’ve not got any timescale on recovery, but the target for me is next season now. If I can come back then, that would be great for me. It’s something that will never leave me but somehow you have to find a way to manage it so that I can still play my football.

Aaron Ramsey is out of Arsenal’s trip to Liverpool this weekend. The midfielder has failed to recover from an ankle problem picked up in the recent FA Cup defeat at Sunderland, meaning Thomas Rosicky is likely to keep his place ahead of the Anfield showdown.

Michel Vorm is on course for a return to action this weekend. The Swansea keeper missed out on last Sunday’s trip to Stoke after picking up a virus but, according to Brendan Rodgers, he should be fit and available for the Welsh club’s visit to Wigan:

He was being sick and everything else, but he has come around well and we hope he will be back in training with us on Wednesday. We think he should be fine for the weekend.

In other Swansea news, Kemy Agustien has underwent ankle surgery yesterday. The midfielder picked up a problem prior to the Gameweek 25 home game with Norwich and, with the operation described as “minor”, he is expected to return to the first-team squad within three to five weeks.

Wolves are assessing injuries to Wayne Hennessey, Dave Edwards and Kevin Doyle, after the trio pulled out of international duty this week. Hennessy picked up an ankle problem towards the end of Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Newcastle, while Edwards and Doyle have knee and hamstring problems respectively. Steven Fletcher has returned to training after missing out last weekend due to a virus, while Sebastien Bassong is in full training after a recent hamstring problem.

Chris Brunt is on course for a return to action this weekend. The Irishman has been sidelined for the previous seven gameweeks after sustaining an ankle injury but, according, to Roy Hodgson, he has now fully recovered, with his lack of match fitness now the only issue ahead of the home game with Chelsea. Hodgson is also hoping Jerome Thomas recovers from a hamstring problem- the winger has helped the Baggies to three wins in his last four appearances but is described as “touch and go” for the Blues clash.

Steven Taylor has targeted a pre-season return for Newcastle. The centre-half’s words have dismissed any notion that he may recover from a ruptured Achilles prior to the end of the current campaign, meaning 4.2 priced Mike Williamson’s place alongside Fabricio Coloccini is all but nailed on at the heart of defence.

Everton reserve manager Alan Stubbs reckons Jack Rodwell and Leon Osman are both on course for first-team returns this weekend. The duo featured for the reserves yesterday, with Osman afforded 45 minutes and Rodwell an hour of the 2-2 draw against Bolton. Both players have been sidelined since limping out of the first match of Everton’s double Gameweek 20 –also against Bolton- but, with David Moyes’ side losing just once in their absence, could perhaps find it tricky to force their way straight back into the first XI.

Hmm, I should probably wait until Colehole posts the Matchday 1 reviews before I put my Matchday 2 preview up for Group B of the UCL shouldn't I? (I realise most on here couldn't give a fig but then if that were the benchmark for posting it would be pretty quiet round here! 😉 )

Have you found it's given some greater insight into the rest of the group? That was the only reason I thought (fleetingly) of doing the write-ups.

I only bothered with Chris White's team last time as I was playing him, but this week I havent even felt like doing that until these internationals are out of the way.

Just needs one or two free transfers - not a WC

      Maybe Jones for Smalling

Kompany for Richards not allowed on this occasion

They're defensive midfielders, for heavens sake! Exactly what you need in an attacking 4-2-3-1 formation

The creative players are the four in front of them, and the full backs.

Since when were holding/defensive midfielders meant to be creative???

Oh come on, there's being a defensive midfielder and then there's being a water carrier with no creativity or ability on the ball. An accurate description of both Barry and Parker. Since when was having two such players a requirement in a 4231?

Of course holding midfielders can be creative - would you not call the likes of Alonso, Busquets and Carrick creative?

The both do exactly the same jobs for their respective clubs - hassle. Then when in possession they simply pass it to someone who is better on the ball. Having them both in the same midfield is needless and is exactly the reason England are destined to underachieve - not enough footballers, too many try harders.

RVP is a must play ... but liverpool at home can pull a clean sheet against anyone so play both and hope for the best.

If you can play a better defender than Evans then I would but again United can pull a clean sheet from anywhere, Bale should not be bench.

Bench one of Sess and Mclean and one of Krul or Simpson

    Bale, Demps or Sess?

Sess is the stand out but with fixtures against blackburn and qpr around the corner is it such a wise move?

Bale is the highest scoring midfielder so he is great value and can perform against any team. He's inconsistent but important to have.

I'd like to sell Bale for a few weeks. Was justifiable with Spurs having a blank but now feels like too much of a risk. Also, would have been part of a hit which would have been easier to take if everyone was scrambling to get DGW players and 11 on the pitch GW29.

Haha yeah down to bad finishing I thought. Same with me for the first 2 games, where Torres has atleast 4-5 sitters. Sigh what's new! Either way, your overall gameplay is sweet. 🙂

I'm still trying to figure out the defending in Fifa12 - totally confusing at times. Also, crossing is so difficult in this - every attack of mine used to be through crosses and now I'm forced to play a direct form. Any reason why this is the case?

That direct play is exactly the reason you fox me so much, against players online(I'm in division 6) there is no direct play most of the play comes from wingers or tricks, so I'm totally unused to direct play, having said that, you're very good/excellent for a beginner, I mean you're beating me and I play a lot 😯 having said that I'm still confident of winning the series with you 8) need 3 wins from 4 games, not that difficult but you're in the drivers seat for sure.

Interesting, yeah I'd expect the pros to go through wingers, but I'm finding it real hard to find space in the wing. Probably more realistic and something I need to get used to.

Anyone from FFS or someone in the know!!. My last throw of the dice this season for my mini leagues (65 pt deficit) is wildcard. Is LIV/EVE the last double gameweek. Not sure about the potential 4 fixtures around FA cup semis and if they will just fall into the corresponding gameweek.I need to work this out!

Having read Archie's response below I think his is more accurate. No reason why cup semi finalists with no Euro commitments can't have fixtures rescheduled midweek like what's happening GW29.

Any sides still in Europe by the time of the FA cup semis could get DGWs, or for the cup final.

So that means Chelsea is the only possibility I'd say, and they'll probably get dumped out by Birmingham or in the quarters anyway - or by Napoli.

So basically unless there are more riots coming up there probably won't be any DGWs..

Don't write them off though, there's always freak circumstances

That's the problem with SOPA. Even with the legitimate uses of file sharing sites, if they're found to share even one copyrighted file they'll go after them and try and shut them down. I've even heard other people saying it has the potential cause issues for the likes of youtube!

How DARE people share without a dollar going into my pocket?! We already don't have the right to own anything we buy (seriously...read the fine print), so eff them on that point alone. I do agree to an extent. I wouldn't pirate a lot of stuff but when I feel there's an album or a movie that they've already made multi millions on, I don't think much harm is caused by it. It's all about balance, you have those who will pirate everything which I don't agree with. On the other hand, you have the utter greed of many big companies which is not right either.

I agree, I honestly think it's the very very very small minority that pirate ridiculous stuff. I do Cd's, and Cd's only. SOMETIMES. I've pirated Word once, because my Mac wouldn't let me update to it because it's an older model. I think people blow this out of proportion, the COMPANIES still make the money. I feel bad for the artists, actors, etc....consumers pirating don't hurt them, the companies with their shady contracts screw them over a hundredfold. But of course, they'll NEVER take responsibility for it. All the blame on the mindless sheep, of course. Seriously people read the fine print.

It looks a lot of nothing really and a recent ruling in Belgium looks like Euro Law will win out

"it will be now up to the court to ensure that any remedy provided will uphold the freedom of internet service providers, or ISPs, to conduct their business.

It will also have to offer an “absolute requirement” that an ISP cannot be mandated to carry out monitoring of the information it carries. It must also ensure that measures implemented are “fair and proportionate” and not “unnecessarily complicated or costly”.

It also states that fundamental rights of an ISPs’ customers must be respected by the court including their right to protection of their personal data and their freedom to receive or impart information."

The occupy movement have some legitimate gripes but have the wrong solutions for those problems. Simply calling for more regulations and higher taxes (i.e. more govt. power) is a rather naive take on things and reflects a lack of economic knowledge IMO. Yeah too many hipsters and not enough thinkers in the Occupy movements. They have a very naive view on it all, I remember one group assaulting a man for owning a Mercedes. Now, my dad owns a Merc and he works his arse off to earn a good living, is that wrong? I'm sure this man they went after was very similar, he was just driving down the road.

Not sure if you'll see your mail again. But I'm keeping my fingers crossed for that precious review of yours, even if it can be done by Sat 😀

Anybody know if its true that Lukas Podolski has agreed terms with arsenal? I'm a massive Arsenal fan but can't get my head around this, there's so many articles saying that he has agreed terms but i just dont know, hopefully its true.. Lol

I've seen a lot of articles saying Kim Kardashian gave birth to an alien bat-man....Until I see it on the Arsenal FC website, I'm not believing anything. Mere speculation....don't get me wrong, huge stateside gooner right here, I want to believe.

Podolski has agreed personal terms with Arsenal, but his club, 1.FC Cologne, haven't agreed a transfer fee with Arsenal. As the two sides couldn't agree a price in November, the deal is a long way off yet.

To put it into perspective, Eden Hazard agreed personal terms with Tottenham last month - and no deal has been agreed between Lille and Spurs since then. In both cases, the news has been leaked to the press (either by the selling club, or more likely, the player) in order to start a bidding war.

Who would you play this week?
    Sessegnon (at Newcastle)
    N Dyer (at Wigan)

I'm playing Santon Vs Sunderland if that makes a difference to your thinking.......and thanks.

I'm having he same dilemma. Leaning towards Dyer at the moment. I find it difficult to bench anyone against Wigan.
