David Moyes is full of praise for Royston Drenthe. The injury doubts rack up for Arsenal ahead of tonight’s game with Milan. Pablo Zabaleta is set to be sidelined with a hamstring problem, Darren Bent undergoes successful ankle surgery, while Swansea decide against appealing Nathan Dyer’s three-match ban:

David Moyes has been praising Royston Drenthe ahead of Everton’s upcoming double gameweek. The Dutchman has been a source of frustration for Fantasy managers this term –he has started two games in a row only twice in the current campaign- but last week saw him rewarded a role on the right for the Toffees against QPR. Drenthe grabbed a goal at QPR and, with Landon Donovan back in the US after the completion of his loan deal, he looks set to battle Seamus Coleman for a chance on the flank. With Steven Pienaar also unavailable to play against parent club Spurs, Drenthe is seeing a fair amount of Fantasy investment ahead of next week and his manager admits he’s starting to earn his trust:

It’s taken him time to settle. He came from Real Madrid and you think they will come and understand what we do here. But they don’t straight away. There’s a lot more of the defensive side of the game we need him to be part of. He can’t just do what he wants. He’s beginning to do a bit better and can do much better. He has that ability to score, to create a chance. We’re beginning to trust him much more now.

Arsene Wenger revealed Arsenal have plenty injury worries ahead of tonight’s Champions League game against Milan. Four-nil down from the first leg, the Gunners need something of a miracle at the Emirates if they are to overcome the deficit but will be short of midfield options tonight. Yossi Benayoun is out through illness, Abou Diaby has picked up a hamstring problem and Mikel Arteta needs a week’s rest after his head knock at Anfield last weekend. Thomas Rosicky is also a doubt for Wenger in the middle of the park, while Kieran Gibbs is struggling to overcome a groin problem. The Arsenal boss revealed no players will be rested as he attempts to haul back the Italians’ lead, with Robin Van Persie set to lead the line against the Serie A leaders.

Pablo Zabaleta is set for a spell on the sidelines after picking up a hamstring injury in City’s weekend win over Bolton. The full-back limped out of the proceedings with less than 20 minutes on the clock and with Micah Richards also injured, Kolo Toure stepped in to replace the Argentine at right-back. Richards’ Fantasy owners have been stung by Roberto Mancini’s recent rotation policy, which saw the right-back rested in Gameweek 25 and 26 and, despite Zabaleta’s upcoming absence, Toure’s versatility and experience during the title run-in could well see the Ivorian play a part in Mancini’s thinking over the vital final third of the season.

Darren Bent has undergone surgery on his injured ankle. The forward, who ruptured ligaments in the Gameweek 26 match at Wigan, is expected to return to full training in around 12 weeks’ time, according to Aston Villa. With the club struggling to find the net –just a single goal in their last three- young forward Andreas Weimann scored yet again for the reserves yesterday. Weimann bagged a couple of hat-tricks for Villa’s second string last week and was drafted into the first-team squad for the trip to Blackburn. Alex McLeish afforded him a single minute at Ewood Park but with Gabby Agbonlahor continuing to misfire, Weimann may be set for more game time over the next fortnight, with Fulham and Bolton both rolling up to Villa Park.

Swansea have decided against appealing the red card handed out to Nathan Dyer in the weekend win at Wigan. The winger received a three-match ban for a challenge on Jordi Gomez but, while the Welsh club view the decision as “extremely harsh”, they feel that an appeal could run the risk of an extension to the ban. Dyer will now miss games against City, Fulham and Everton and will not be available for selection until April 1- Wayne Routledge is odds-on to replace him on the flank, with the latter finding himself out of favour lately, having managed a mere 21 minutes gametime over the Swans’ last five matches.

Reports suggest Ashley Cole is a doubt for Chelsea’s FA Cup replay at Birmingham this evening. The left-back is said to have picked up the problem in Saturday’s 1-0 loss at West Brom and will be assessed prior to the St Andrews showdown.

IMO it will mean a City/Chelsea cancelled game. rearranged during a later gameweek. But this is not confirmed or everyone's opinion.

And if the game IS cancelled and re-arranged, will you keep City players for the DGW, or sell due to the blank? It feels like a double gameweek for City will just mean serious rotation for the likes of Silva and Aguero. Perhaps its the time to get rid (though not for Rooney this week, WBA will do well against them)

So Moyes loves Royston, That'll be 90 minutes over the two games then.

And Arsene is going to risk all to overturn the four-nil. Error in my opinion.

"He’s beginning to do a bit better and can do much better".

Not overwhelming praise really. If the DGW was against Wigan + Wolves he would be in but Everton will have plenty defending to do against Spurs + Liverpool and Drenthe could be a bit part player in those games.

I can't see the appeal myself. Bringing in Suarez is going to cost me two transfers (8pts) and based on performances to date I can't see him recovering those over any period of games coming up.

      I've done Ba > Suarez as a one-week punt.

I have two frees and will lose 0.1 tops on Ba. I think Suarez looked very lively against Arsenal and I fancy him to get more points from sun,EVE than Ba does from ars.

    Silva/J Morrison/Dempsey/McClean/Valencia

    Rooney/RVP/BA

1 FT left and 3.3mil in the back.

    Second draft of WC team:

    Schwartzer | Mignolet
    Evans | Skrtel | Enrique | Caulker | McCauley
    Silva | Adam | Dempsey | Siggy | Miyachi
    RVP | Rooney | Ba

Adam to Valencia (if fit) after the DGW, bringing Bale back somehow for GW31.

People keep saying that about Adam, but you're all wrong! Nah, he's just a 1 week DGW punt - worked out well maxing on Spurs for the last double, so I'll try it again.

No Bale is the big risk, but I can get him back easy enough if I downgrade a Liv defender.

I did expect slightly more, but that was probably because a few friends had said it was basically the best TV series ever. But it is very good nonetheless, and seems like it gets better with each series. Well worth a watch if you get the chance, FB.

FISO got the required NTO for Valencia right, as he was red flagged they upped it to 20% of people to transfer him out, but he's just had a lot of transfers out.
            20% * 2.3% ownership * 2.7 million players = 12k NTO

I'm not sure about Richards, or why Ba barely dropped during ACON, but they do have a formula that works sometimes, just not all the time for some reason.

As far as Drenthe goes, if he isn't guaranteed a starting spot, who do people think will take it from him? Now Donovan has gone it's only Osman and Coleman who are challenging him for a place, and they're both yet to make a first team return after injury and will be lacking match fitness. I reckon he'll play 90 mins plus 60 mins over the 2 games personally.

silva and siggy, or Yaya and Valencia. The first of many wildcard issues?
Silva was a keeper for me.
Valencia was also someone I wanted in.
Problem - Silva not on top of his game currently and more potential for rotation that Yaya, though still believe he will play most and have a higher PPG than YaYa overall.
Problem - Valencia currently injured, but now also more prone to rotation given that Nani and Young are fit. Have to play Fergies guessing games every saturday morning - though his price makes him excellent value. Siggy certainly has goals in him, but looking at his fixtures in short term not sure I would want to play him that much anyway.
    Ideas?

Following on from an amusing post he made last night. Stupid question, though, what response does he expect from Utd fans?

Possibly a bit of an OTT response, but it's a shit-stirring question.

From watching games as a Liverpool fan - of course they do! 😛

But if you have a look at the stats, United don't actually seem to get more big calls their way, I read an article on it a while ago, I'll try to dig it up

I read something like that, the bigger clubs tend to get more decisions in their favour, but not Utd in particular.

I think most of them are just scared of SAF, so decisions tend to go their way. Is the opinion of many.

No, not really. It's just if one goes in favour of United everyone remembers it, whereas they seem to forget when one goes in the favour of someone else or against United.
