David Moyes is full of praise for Royston Drenthe. The injury doubts rack up for Arsenal ahead of tonight’s game with Milan. Pablo Zabaleta is set to be sidelined with a hamstring problem, Darren Bent undergoes successful ankle surgery, while Swansea decide against appealing Nathan Dyer’s three-match ban:

David Moyes has been praising Royston Drenthe ahead of Everton’s upcoming double gameweek. The Dutchman has been a source of frustration for Fantasy managers this term –he has started two games in a row only twice in the current campaign- but last week saw him rewarded a role on the right for the Toffees against QPR. Drenthe grabbed a goal at QPR and, with Landon Donovan back in the US after the completion of his loan deal, he looks set to battle Seamus Coleman for a chance on the flank. With Steven Pienaar also unavailable to play against parent club Spurs, Drenthe is seeing a fair amount of Fantasy investment ahead of next week and his manager admits he’s starting to earn his trust:

It’s taken him time to settle. He came from Real Madrid and you think they will come and understand what we do here. But they don’t straight away. There’s a lot more of the defensive side of the game we need him to be part of. He can’t just do what he wants. He’s beginning to do a bit better and can do much better. He has that ability to score, to create a chance. We’re beginning to trust him much more now.

Arsene Wenger revealed Arsenal have plenty injury worries ahead of tonight’s Champions League game against Milan. Four-nil down from the first leg, the Gunners need something of a miracle at the Emirates if they are to overcome the deficit but will be short of midfield options tonight. Yossi Benayoun is out through illness, Abou Diaby has picked up a hamstring problem and Mikel Arteta needs a week’s rest after his head knock at Anfield last weekend. Thomas Rosicky is also a doubt for Wenger in the middle of the park, while Kieran Gibbs is struggling to overcome a groin problem. The Arsenal boss revealed no players will be rested as he attempts to haul back the Italians’ lead, with Robin Van Persie set to lead the line against the Serie A leaders.

Pablo Zabaleta is set for a spell on the sidelines after picking up a hamstring injury in City’s weekend win over Bolton. The full-back limped out of the proceedings with less than 20 minutes on the clock and with Micah Richards also injured, Kolo Toure stepped in to replace the Argentine at right-back. Richards’ Fantasy owners have been stung by Roberto Mancini’s recent rotation policy, which saw the right-back rested in Gameweek 25 and 26 and, despite Zabaleta’s upcoming absence, Toure’s versatility and experience during the title run-in could well see the Ivorian play a part in Mancini’s thinking over the vital final third of the season.

Darren Bent has undergone surgery on his injured ankle. The forward, who ruptured ligaments in the Gameweek 26 match at Wigan, is expected to return to full training in around 12 weeks’ time, according to Aston Villa. With the club struggling to find the net –just a single goal in their last three- young forward Andreas Weimann scored yet again for the reserves yesterday. Weimann bagged a couple of hat-tricks for Villa’s second string last week and was drafted into the first-team squad for the trip to Blackburn. Alex McLeish afforded him a single minute at Ewood Park but with Gabby Agbonlahor continuing to misfire, Weimann may be set for more game time over the next fortnight, with Fulham and Bolton both rolling up to Villa Park.

Swansea have decided against appealing the red card handed out to Nathan Dyer in the weekend win at Wigan. The winger received a three-match ban for a challenge on Jordi Gomez but, while the Welsh club view the decision as “extremely harsh”, they feel that an appeal could run the risk of an extension to the ban. Dyer will now miss games against City, Fulham and Everton and will not be available for selection until April 1- Wayne Routledge is odds-on to replace him on the flank, with the latter finding himself out of favour lately, having managed a mere 21 minutes gametime over the Swans’ last five matches.

Reports suggest Ashley Cole is a doubt for Chelsea’s FA Cup replay at Birmingham this evening. The left-back is said to have picked up the problem in Saturday’s 1-0 loss at West Brom and will be assessed prior to the St Andrews showdown.

Got 2 free transfers this week and already done Aguero to Suarez.

My plan was to take a 4pt hit and do Sess to Young and Kompany to Enrique, but now I'm contemplating an 8pt hit and do Sess to Drenthe, Kompany to Enrique and Ba to Rooney.

    Thoughts?

8-pt hit is not worth it, especially when getting rid of Kompany.

Ba to Rooney is your United coverage sorted, if you need money to fund that, a 4-pt hit is a possibility through bringing someone like Surman / Pilkington / Miyachi as a cheap differential.

Would be for a Liverpool defender though who have 2 games so that should be a minimum of 4pts really so Kompany would have to get a clean sheet just to outscore him and that's on the basis Enrique doesn't get one. Kompany will likely have a blank the week after as well, plus it frees up enough funds to do Sess to Young.

I've done both the first two transfer you suggest already and was going to take a 4pt hit to bring in Enrique or Skrtel.

I wouldn't go for your latter option (obviously, based on my last comment) because Ba will be at home to Norwich in the gameweek after next.

Secondly Drenthe is still a bit hit and miss at the moment, it's worth waiting to see what happens with him.

I agree that Rooney at home to WBA is tempting but I simply can't afford him after bringing Ashely in.

Do you have a concept of value?

For a start, they freely available at 28/1 on Betfair.

Also, realistically the score after 90mins is almost certainly going to be 4-0 or 5-0 if they are to qualify, which you could dutch at 36.5/1

Just saying, people should think about value before they bet as the bookies have enough of an advantage anyway!

The Sunderland game was a local derby so probably not the best one to base your judgement on.

By some coincidence, Suarez is playing Sunderland and Everton so might not manage the required 15 shots he needs to score.

I remember after a night out in Uni once (so rather drunk), we went to the casino, played Blackjack. One of my friends was on 18. Said "Hit me", "Sir, you're on 18", "I know, I know. Another card". And he got a 3. True story.

Moral of the story: Sometimes logic can go f*ck itself, and gambling can work out lovely. 😉

Not a fan of ditching him...I still think he is the best option under 10M, a few blanks doesn't immediately change that.
I see the temptation though, Suarez DGW, Rooney nice fixtures/form, Pogrebnyak and Odemwingie on fire.
      Still wouldn't do it, however.

actually surprised so many are getting rid to be honest. Normally people on this site talk sense. I think it's hilarious that so many people are picking a severely unproven EPL player for the DGW. Yes he hints at high scores, but surely people would like at least 1 week of proof? I know I would. Getting this much uncertainty in for Ba seems silly. Especially when Arsenal haven't kept a clean sheet in 10 of the last 12 games.

I don't agree with selling Ba either but I completely understand anyone who wants a punt on Suarez. It's a double after all and a player who has the ball a lot, shoots a lot and has scored a lot at previous club and national team.

Yeah absolutely, but with twice as many minutes to earn points it's easy to understand why he's tempting, don't you think? I'm staying away personally as I think other options might well do in one game what he does in two.

    Scwarzer
    Skrt/Komp/Evans
    Yaya/Demps/Silva/Sess
    Roo/RVP/Ba

    Vorm/Ferg/Raylor/Kelly(ful)

8 point hit to bring in Sess >Pilk & Ba > Suarez??

Opponent is joint top in mini leage, need to win!! SO it feels risky, but he has pretty much same squad, no transfers made from him yet, he has no rooney, Aggy instead...im thinking he might bluff me and not make any transfers, he has Enrique as cover for DGW. But then he may take a few hits to try and smash me and if i remain the same, i will lose, With my luck Lpool will get hat-tricks and all!!

I dont know what to do lads, help??????

Sounds a bit like panic rather than tactics on your part Gash.

Pilk is a rotation risk as most of Norwich, although they have good fixtures for the next three, it all goes down hill from there.

Suarez has two tough fixtures for the DGW and has scored six league goals all season.

11 games to go yet. Steady and solid with guaranteed players is the way to go for at least the next six imo.

Hi guys, is it worth making any transfers for a hit? Team below.

    Mignolet (Vorm)
    Skrtel, Evans, Richards (Caulker, Williamson)
    Bale, Silva, McClean, Dempsey (Valencia)
    RVP(c), Rooney(vc), Ba

Tempted to get Drenthe in for Valencia and bench McClean?

    cheers!

I'd rather stick with the solid, in-form scoring strikers and mids.

nice nice. You might want to trade out Donovan though, he won't play, bring in Barkley.

ooppss Donavon is playing against Toronto FC in the first leg of the Concacaf CL quarter finals in toronto (which i have tickets for). You think he will be fit enough for this weekends clash vs pool?

Yup...get to see Donovan, Beckham and Robbie Keane in my home town tomorrow night. Pretty excited! 50,000 tickets sold it is a sellout. Toronto FC need to win big on our home leg.

MLS is hard to watch somtimes as most matches lack quality, but it is getting better.

-2pt per transfer makes it so easy/tempting to do a few, especially with points for recovered balls etc, seems you have more chance to make it up.

    8pt hit done!

Well people taking hits willy nilly in FPL and thats a 4 pointer and you dont have the bonus of more ways of getting points like u do the UCL game. Plus i dont really care too much about it.

How many goals do we think Arsenal need to be up at half time to have a chance against Milan tonight?

    I reckon even at 1-0 there's a chance. 2-0 and it's really on.

      3-0 tbh.

The major problem is we will concede, not how many we can score.

Depends what team you put out I guess. Realistically I think you need to be 2-0 by half time and then unleash the Ox for 30 minutes to have a go.

Personally I think you'll win 2-1 or something like that.

    Hi chaps,

How does my team look for this game week

    Mig

    Caulker Kelly Kompany
    McClean Silva Yaya Bale Surman
    RVP (c) Rooney (vc)

    Krul Ba Taiwo Santon

Got two free transfers. Not sure whether to avoid the double game week or not. Want the likes of Demps, Siggy, Young, Nani, Enrique, Skrtel and Rolls Royston but can't decide who. Ideally i'd like to make only one this week so I have two rolled over. Any advice greatly appreciated? I'm just over 90 points behind my main rival in my head to head league so need a differential
