Last season the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) saw something of a gold rush in the budget bracket. The fast bucks ostentatiously displayed by early investors in the likes of Andy Carroll and Charlie Adam drew a torrent of fortune seekers in their wake, and a thriving seat of industry sprang up in the land of cut-price plenty.

A town in decline for much of this season, less prodigious yields from the newly promoted hopefuls turned many Fantasy managers away to more upmarket territory, but the resurgence of the budget performer in recent weeks is tempting hardy prospectors back to this unfashionable seam. From old favourites like Kevin Doyle to new men such as James McClean, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Grant Holt, the points are again flowing in the budget belt.

Here at The Scout we’ve got an eye on a budding cut-price acolyte of the Arsene Wenger academy, Bolton loanee Ryo Miyaichi. Signing for Arsenal after an impressive trial last winter, Miyaichi was immediately sent on loan to Feyenoord for the remainder of the season. Nicknamed “Ryodinho†by the Dutch media he was quick to make his mark in the Eredivisie, grabbing three goals and five assists in his twelve matches.

Featuring in the Gunners’ pre-season tour but subsequently destitute of competitive opportunities, Miyaichi was sent in January – like Jack Wilshere before him- to learn the Premier League ropes at Bolton. Scoring just four minutes into his full debut against Millwall in the FA Cup, he retained his starting berth wide left against Chelsea in the league the following weekend, emerging from that game streets ahead of the rest of the Bolton midfield across the board in our members’ OPTA data.

Named “Player of the Month†for February by the Bolton faithful on the basis of just one league start, and drawing gushing praise from Owen Coyle, Miyaichi’s place in the side looks secure, and his attacking potential could be given free reign over a run of fixtures that are the envy of his cut-price contemporaries (QPR avl BLA wol FUL).

Currently priced at a paltry 4.9, and with only 0.2% ownership, it likely that Miayaichi will not be flying under the radar for long. The rush for late-season differential gold is well under way, and prospecting is a notoriously tricky business. With price, fixtures and form aligning, however, the temporary Trotter could yield rich reward for those managers willing to invest in his Fantasy fortunes.

What are peoples thoughts on Henderson as a relativiely cheap way to get into Liverpools midfield for the DGW and then for Liverpools good run of fixtures. I have Enrique and also considering Suerez (still not entirely convinced though)

Getting in Suerez would mean I'd have to move out Ba as more than likely I am getting in Rooney plus I can't get rid of RVP.

Maybe just going with Suerez and Enrique will be enough Liverpool coverage. I think I am moving away from the Henderson idea, he basically just gets minimum points week in week out and has only hit double figures once

Not sure he'll start both matches and if he does, he's lacking confidence in front of goal as all his efforts seem weak like he's afraid to miss the target.

Ok I've done some research fixtures wise: Suarez vs Ba. Have in mind Ba has 4pts advantage.

Suarez sun & EVE qpr WIG
    Ba ars NOR wba

So Ba has 2 away games @ Ars with all the defense fit, WBA who suddenly recaptured form and home game against Nor fair enough. Suarez has double @ QPR who are shit and home game vs Wigan. If he doesn't receive red he will clearly outscore Ba in meantime. Plus I will reshuffle cash upfront waiting Ade in meantime. Top of the captain poll, so plenty of lads will captain him. So it is dangerous enough if he goes wild. Well by Suarez standards that is 1 goal a game. Well he could have Die Ade Die episode too. Hmmm.... Serious thinking needed, serious.

I have considered this for a while and so far decided against it. Know I want in GW31, will sell Taiwo and Silva for 2 FTs in Gw30, so I could do it for a 4 pointer without too much of a problem, but it's Suarez, Ba has shown himself capable of scoring against anyone, Suarez has not shown himself capable of scoring.

Hmm...an interesting conundrum! Are we playing each other in the Champions League this week? If so, would it be wrong of me to suggest I've gone down the Suarez route with (c) potential for the DGW! Best of luck for the game!

    hello, two part question here

for this gw, this is who i am fielding (i know kelly and valencia are doubts, but just incase)

    schwarzer
    kompany | evans | kelly
    bale | demps | silva | valencia
    rvp | rooney | ba
bench: krul, mcclean, caulker, santon (so if kelly and valencia don't play, mcclean and caulker will just come on for them). how does that look next gw. i finally cracked top 100k and wish to continue climbing in rank.

secondly, for gw30, i am pondering the thought of going silva to nani and evans to a defender who is 4.5 (only because the 3 players per team max rule). what do you think about this? should i just keep silva and evans, or get nani for his good fixtures and a 4.5 defender?

Yeah Valencia won't play unless SAF is lying to us. Kelly... I hope he plays but wouldn't count on it for certain.

I'd keep tabs on Nani to see if his form improves - blip doesn't even cover it. I honestly think I'd rather keep Evans and Silva at this current moment in time, but like I said keep an eye on it.

wouldn't be the first time he told a lie 😉 but i know valencia won't be playing, but i just like to field him just incase. and ya i'll be watching nani very closely. everytime i've brought him in, he's done wonders for me this year. one of the moves that regained my first place position in my mini league when he got the 16 pt return some time ago.

So my fellow trolls, is it wise to do Richards->Evans right not seeing as I won't be able to do it after Richards falls and will have to get rid of Hart instead or is it better to wait and pray Richards doesn't fall and if he does get rid of Hart? Ta.

At least our teams are quite different - unless we have synchronous transfers. I'm giving away -8 already with home advantage. This could be a Mick McCarthy-esque showing from me as I save the team for a more winnable home tie...

I'd think about Krul to Schwarzer. I can't see either Vorm/Krul keeping clean sheets.
Richards as always a doubt to start, even for a hit it could be worth looking at Enrique.

Ok, so I've been looking at Moussa Dembele's stats in the members area and he looks to be hugely under producing based on his underlying numbers and, as such, is also cheap. Could he be set to explode at some point soon or can anyone explain why his stats are so much better than his fantasy production?

Well under Jol he has been converted from a striker to a CAM very successfully, he's at the heart of many of their moves, but with any of Dempsey, A Johnson and Pog/Zamora in front of him who are all relatively greedy he gets plenty of Key Passes but assists and goals are harder to come by.

5.2 is cheap, but I wouldn't say he's worth a valuable striker spot

Fulham are chock full of strikers at the moment, leaving him a smaller amount of opportunity to produce. He seems to be the assist of the assister - which of course gives him nothing. He might pick up if and when Pog loses his form a bit.

If you look at the table closely the gap between 8th and 14th is just 3 points hence, I believe that there are 3 groups really - The top 7, the middle pack and the relegation strugglers, I believe WBA aren't really good enough to jump into the top 7 and if one looks at their results over the past 7 games closely, they have 4 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses, one win was against stoke who were in a slump at that period, and they've won the last three - vs Wolves(who were/are looking terrible), vs Sunderland(very impressive) and vs Chelsea(Who have pretty tepid over the last few weeks) I think it's way too early to judge but even considering their impressive form their only really impressive victory has been against Sunderland.

Nice analysis. It could go either way with WBA. Good = Hodgson drills taking effect, ok fixtures, decent def imo + Winge. Bad = Form so far, points predictability + Winge.

I would like to make room for 1 from WBA. Could be great value, if that's what you need at this stage.

Really?? How can you not give them credit for beating Chelsea? I think 3 wins on the trot says it all really. I certainly expect them to put up a fight at Old Trafford (but lose). They wont capitulate like everyone expects them to imo

Enrique will be lucky to assist, not because he is poor or can;t cross, but because Pool strikers barring perhaps Bellmay are incapable of hitting the proverbial barn door.

Ok ye're all prob sick shite of rmt's but finally pulled out my second wildcard despite having clint captain last wk but riddled wit dodge players (sess, ba, taiwo etc). Fiddling around and ended up wit this:
    Swharz Ming
    Sagna BAE Enrique Evans McAuley
Bale Young Walcott Sig Mr. Miyagi
    RVP Rooney Pogrussski

Spending strong in def due to such a dearth of decent 6.5 to 9 midfielders at the mo, was even contemplating rosicky/the ox/jarvis but have huge respect for sig, esp after seeing his record in Germany.
Ryo is an unknown but looks unreal and is savage in Fifa so a bit of personal bias going on.
Sagna and McAuley are interchangeable to be honest, just cash spare from mid for em.
Liverpool fan but wouldnt touch any mid (rotation and lack of form) or Suarez (form and actin the muppet)
Got rid of clint for Scharz and Pog, sad but couldnt have 3 with their fixtures.

Rant done, might be talking crap but could really do with some advice, have 500 euros riding on it in two leagues (top in one by 60 odd, second in another by 60 odd, 11k in world)!

Had 2 FT , I used one already to trade Sess for Drenthe, now i got one FT left... what should i do? The DGW for Liverpool and Everton and the fact that I dont have any player from Man United draws my attention but i cant decide who to bring in! 83pts last gw , feeling that i ll get less than 50pts next gw...
I gonna trade Ba and I aint sure if trading Aguero is wise... many did that to RVP and payed the price, it could happen with Aguero too!

This is my team so far:
    Hart(vorm)
    Enrique Taylor Lescott(BAE, Caulker) 1FT 1.8m bank
    Bale Drenthe Dempsey Siggy(McClean)
    Aguero RVP Ba
