Carlos Tevez continues to build up his fitness amid reports he is set to feature against Chelsea. Anderson may be out for the season after reportedly sustaining a hamstring injury in training. Alex McLeish hails the recent displays of Stephen Ireland, Glen Johnson is a concern for Kenny Dalglish ahead of tonight’s Merseyside derby, while David Moyes is wary of pushing some of his comeback stars too quickly:

Carlos Tevez has stepped up his conditioning training ahead of Man City’s game with Chelsea next Wednesday. The Argentine has featured for the reserves twice recently but has been withdrawn from the second string’s squad this week and, with the City frontline struggling to find the net, Roberto Mancini is keen to build up his former captain’s fitness in time for the crucial showdown. If United win at Wolves this weekend, City will enter the Chelsea game four points behind their title rivals; Tevez could well feature as Mancini looks to keep in touch with his neighbours as the pressure at the top ramps up. In other news, the City boss is sweating on the fitness of Joleon Lescott- the centre-half missed Sunday’s defeat at Swansea with a groin injury, with results of a scan expected at some point today.

Andre Santos is expected to turn out for Arsenal reserves on Wednesday evening as he nears a first-team comeback. The Brazilian – who has been missing since Gameweek 14 with an ankle injury – was an unused sub in last night’s win over Newcastle but “needs 90 minutes†to build up his fitness, according to Arsene Wenger, with an appearance against the Baggies second string now pencilled in. The Gunners boss also revealed Abou Diaby could return against Everton next week- the midfielder lasted just 27 minutes of his latest comeback before limping off at Liverpool.

Fulham’s Zdenek Grygera has confirmed he will not feature again this season, with his recovery from knee surgery taking longer than anticipated. The right-back suffered anterior ligament damage in the Gameweek 11 match with Spurs and his absence has afforded Stephen Kelly a chance to establish himself in Martin Jol’s back-four. The Cottagers have picked up defensively of late, with just a single goal conceded in their last three and, priced at 4.0, Kelly’s place as a cut-price Fantasy option continues to look secure over the remainder of the campaign.

Alex McLeish has heaped praise on the recent displays of Stephen Ireland, suggesting the midfielder will be an integral part of the Villa first XI over the remainder of the season. Ireland has now played 90 minutes in back-to-back matches over the last two gameweeks – the first time this term he has done so. Playing in the hole and priced at just 5.3, Ireland has the potential to be a bargain, though with Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool in the next four, Villa’s fixtures are hardly appetising. Mcleish went on to say:

Ireland has been a revelation in the last few weeks. From what I’ve seen the last couple of weeks, I’m thinking Stevie is starting to look like the player he was at Man City. There is a player in there alright. You see the slide tackles, dispossessing people. I thought he was really good on one to ones when he didn’t have the ball in terms of dispossession. He is at a very good moment – and long may that continue.

Reports suggest Anderson may be set to miss the remainder of the season after badly damaging a hamstring in training last week. Though United have yet to comment, the Mail reckon the club are awaiting results of a scan on the problem, with a lengthy lay-off more than likely. The Brazilian started eight of the first nine matches for the champions but, in an injury-hit season, has featured just twice from the bench since then and, with Paul Scholes coming out of retirement, it’s arguable as to whether Anderson’s midfield contribution has been missed by Sir Alex Ferguson’s side in their climb back to the summit.

Darron Gibson is the only definite absentee for Everton ahead of this evening’s Merseyside derby, David Moyes confirmed yesterday. The Toffees boss did admit, however, that, with an FA Cup clash against Sunderland to follow this weekend before squaring up to Arsenal next midweek, he is wary of pushing some of his fit-again players too soon over the next couple of games, with several of his squad only just returning from injury:

Some players I don’t think are as match fit as I’d like and that is a little bit of a concern for me. On Saturday I was a bit concerned about Seamus Coleman and whether he was going to be match fit. Even Nikica Jelavic, he hadn’t been injured like some of the others but he’d missed a couple of weeks and we’ve had quite a few players like that. I thought it showed near the end of the [Tottenham] game. We didn’t quite have the energy I would’ve liked.

Kenny Dalglish’s only concern centres around Glen Johnson. The right-back has missed the last couple of matches after picking up a hamstring problem in England training and is once again a doubt for this evening’s match, with his manager revealing:

He’s got a niggle, so we’ll have to wait and see. Sometimes they take longer to clear up than others – you keep thinking you’re going to get there, but it doesn’t quite happen. We’ll have to wait and see where he is.

        Lies. Heard it all before.

I am only joking of course, don't want to see bad injuries to any players but IMO he's an average player.

I'm getting the feeling Scholes will be offered a new contract along with Pogba, and Fergie won't sign the much needed centre midfielder for the 5th summer in a row. ðŸ™

Always thought he was average personally.

Least u only need 1 central midfielder, we need pretty much a whole new midfield and attack! ðŸ™

with santos back now too i wouldn't gamble on gibbs, rotation threat and his injury prone-ness probably negates his nice price

back from indie pop festival to discover an unspectacular but welcome 48 pts plus skrtel to come. I'll take that.

    So on to next transfers

I've got MRichards, Fletcher(the reverse midas touch player) and Yaya all booked in for the chop shop. Which should I ditch?

I favour Fletcher out before he loses me more more, but with 5.6 to spend that leaves me with Holt and Hoilet really as the best choices...not mad keen on either for this week.

    Any suggestions?

I agree with Fletcher having to go asap the way Wolves are playing but it does limit who you can bring in. Can you wait until you have 2FT to avoid a hit?

I would downgrade Richards and upgrade Fletcher. I think Yaya is worth keeping at his price.

I think you are right. I've been avoiding a hit on Fletcher for 3-4 weeks now...in that time he's gone from my purchase price of 5.8 down to 5.4. I think I might do a little...

Richards and Fletcher out to Evans /Pogbrethingy yak for a 4pt hit

or for Caulker and Odemwingie .....hmmm, actually that looks quite tempting.

Richards > Evans to start with. Great fixtures compared to Caulker. Although that doesn't seem to stop him lately.

If you don't have Dempsey, PogYak is a good shout.

Im struggling to decide on Richards aswell. Very tempted to do Richards > Sagna, but getting rid of a City defender seems daft, their fixtures aren't that bad. It's not clear yet whether he was he dropped for Zabaleta or was he just injured either.

Holt was absolute filth at the weekend, but he has a knack of scoring against the better sides, im still tempted to get rid of him this week as i worry about his starting position as Jackson looked lively and Morison is waiting in the wings.

I have no Man City players and I don’t think i’m in any rush to change that. Kompany when he is back is always worthwhile but with a lack of goals and so much rotation in attack I don’t think it’s worth the hassle. Trying to second guess Mancini is impossible aswell. There should be a game in addition to FPL for that.

After the debacle of my Richards, Silva and Toure purchases ahead of their recent great run, I'm inclined to ditch the lot myself. Too much rotation and too many better alternatives, particularly on the red half of town.

Dont you think Yaya is still a good shout? Always looks dangerous in my view and may be a way of getting in some City attack for relatively little money. Might be a good option together with Valencia. Think that pair may be better than any 5m+10m midfield combination.

    Hi all,

Having my best GW (top 40K) so far this season despite not going Roon (C) but wondering about next GW. I'd like to play my front 8 so could definitely save the transfer but I'm toying with the following:
    A. Lindegaard -> Given (one of the few that rotates with Vorm)
    B. Simpson -> Kelly (FUL)
    C. Lindegaard + Silva -> Schwarzer + Young (the Wolves game could be explosive) for a hit
    D. Save the move

    Cheers for your input

    Ba(v) Rooney RVP

    Subs: Beausejour Kelly Caulker

Subs and Captaincy will no doubt be changed during the week and considering starting Kelly too, but can't really see a transfer that could be done this week.

But his PPG since he hit form in GW6 is 8.6, if he keeps that up he'll hit 300 exactly, it'll be a close run thing 😉

so I did bale out for young yesterday. But Already I'm not sure.
The logic is that I want young until the end (personally I think he's gonna keep his form) and it was either bale or dempsey to go. I want dempsey for swansea and norwich at home, then I plan to transfer him out for bale, as I have 1.2mil in the bank, and that's also when tottenhams fixtures ez up. However, I'm going to lose like 1.5mil by doing these moves, but I think points are worth more at this stage.....anyone offer some positive or negative insight??

No one is nailed-on in United's midfield atm. Might as well have the cheaper option. Go with Valencia

Keep Skrtel and Enrique for the rest of the season?

    Vorm - Ruddy
    Kelly S - Enrique - Skrtel - Caulker - Santon
    Miyaichi - Valencia - Dempsey - Bale - McClean
Ba - Van Persie - Rooney

I'm keeping both for now. One will go in a few weeks but not sure who will be coming in. Verm and Sagna both appeal. So does Baines.

Do we think Balotelli will get most starts in the City lineup? Decent value at 8.1m... City has to start scoring goals again right?

Tevez coming back should only help his cause, because I can't see Aguero and Tevez fitting in the same lineup and Dzeko is pretty shit to put it bluntly.

Aguero and Tevez started together one game at the beginning of the season I believe. I think it was right after the 4 goals for Dzeko, burnt a lot of people

Definitely looking at him to replace Suarez. I don't think he will be nailed on but he will start most games imo.

Looking at the same transfer if Suarez doesn't pull off a miracle tonight... Haven't really followed footy this season, so I had no idea how cack Liverpool were atm...

I am seriously considering him. Mancini said he's got a part to play in every game this season. I'm going to wait a couple of weeks and monitor his starts, especially with Tevez starting to emerge again.

I don't think Tevez will eat into Balotelli's minutes though.

'Mancini’s only true allies appear to be David Pizzaro, Mario Balotelli and his Italian-speaking backroom staff'.

F1 fans. Is Vettel and Red Bull gonna dominate again this year, or will the shiny aesthetically pleasing McLaren keep up with them?
